1 Introduction

Congratulations with your purchase of the Topcom BPM 1900f. This fully automatic, wrist mounted blood pressure monitor is both easy to use and ideally suited for daily measurements. The large display includes systolic, diastolic and pulse, all clearly shown at the completion of each reading.

In addition, you can store up to 90 measurements, ideal for users who want to monitor and track their blood pressure on a regular basis. The BPM 1900 f is compact and portable, making it ideal for home use and travel.

Please read this manual carefully before use. For specific information on your own blood pressure, contact your physician. Put the user guide away in a safe place for future reference.

2 Safety instructions

1.This product is for household use only. It is not intended as a substitute for consultation with your doctor.

2.For users diagnosed with common arrhythmia (atrial or ventricular premature beats or atrial fibrillation), diabetes, poor circulation of blood, kidney problems, or for users suffered from stroke, or for unconscious users, the device might not be suitable for use. Consult your doctor in case of any doubt.

3.The unit should not be operated by children so to avoid hazardous situations.

4.The unit contains high-precision assemblies. Therefore, avoid extreme temperatures, humidity, and direct sunlight. Avoid dropping or strongly shocking the main unit, and protect it from dust.

5.Leaky batteries can damage the unit. Remove the batteries when the unit is not used for a long time.

6.Do not press the START key when the cuff is not placed around the arm.

7.Do not disassemble the main unit or cuff.

8.If the unit is stored in a cold place, allow it to acclimate at room temperature before use.

9.Clean the blood pressure monitor body and the cuff carefully with a slightly damp, soft cloth. Do not press. Do not bend the pre-formed cuff inside out. Do not wash the cuff or use chemical cleaner on it. Never use thinner, alcohol or petrol (gasoline) as cleaner.

10.To ensure accurate measurements, it is recommended that calibration be completed every two years.

4 Helpfull tips

Here are a few helpful tips to help you obtain more accurate readings:

•Do not measure your blood pressure immediately after consuming a large meal. To obtain more accurate readings, please wait one hour before measuring.

•Do not smoke or drink alcohol before measuring your blood pressure.

•You should not do be physically tired or exhausted while taking a measurement.

•It is important that you relax during measurement. Try to take 15-minutes rest before a reading.

•Do not take measurements if you are under stress or under tension.

•Take your blood pressure at normal body temperature. If you are feeling cold or hot, wait a while before taking a measurement.

•If the monitor is stored at very low temperature (near freezing), have it placed at a warm location for at least one hour before using it.

•Wait about 5 minutes before taking the next pressure measurement.

5 Blood pressure

5.1What is Blood Pressure?

Blood pressure is the pressure exerted on the artery tube while blood flows through the arteries. The pressure measured when the heart contracts and sends blood out of the heart is systolic (highest). The pressure measured when the heart dilates with blood flowing back into the heart is called diastolic (lowest) blood pressure.

5.2Why Measure Your Blood Pressure?

Among the various health problems afflicting modern people, problems associated with high blood pressure are by far the most common. High blood pressure's dangerously strong correlation with cardiovascular diseases and high morbidity has made measuring blood pressures a necessity of identifying those at risk.

5.3Blood Pressure Standard

The World Health Organization (WHO) and National High Blood Pressure Education Prgram has developed a Blood pressure standard, according to which areas of low and high-risk blood pressure are identified. This standard however, is a general guideline as individual's blood pressure varies among different people and different groups...etc.

5.4Blood Pressure Fluctuation

Blood pressure fluctuates all the time!

You should not be worried if you encountered two or three measurements at high levels. Blood pressure changes over the month and even throughout the day depending on circumstances (state of mind, temperature, ...)

6 Battery installation

ENGLISH

1.Press down and lift the battery cover in the direction of the arrow to open the battery compartment.

2.Install or replace 4 “AA” sized batteries in the battery compartment according to the indications inside the compartment.

3.Close the battery compartment.

Dispose of the batteries at a designated battery disposal unit and not in the household waste. Do not shortcircuit & dispose of in fire. Remove the battery if this device is not going to be used for a long period.

9 Applying the cuff

5	1.	Plug in the cuff connecting tube into
		the unit.
	2.	Unwrap the arm cuff, leaving the
		“Index” end of the cuff through the
		D-ring of the cuff.

6	3.	Put your left arm through the cuff
		loop. The "OK" range indication
y		should be positioned closer to
		yourself with the rubber tube pointing
		in the direction of your arm. Position
		the artery mark (	) over the main
		artery (on the inside of your arm) in
		the upper arm.

4. Turn your left palm upward and place the edge of the arm cuff at approximately 2 to 3 cm above the inner side of the elbow joint. Tighten the cuff by pulling the "Index" end of the cuff. If the Index line falls within the OK range, indicated at the edge of the cuff, this cuff is suitable for your use. If the Index line falls out of the OK range, you may need a cuff for use with other circumferences for measurement.

5.Relax your entire body,especially the

area between your elbow and fingers. Place your elbow on a table so that the cuff is at the same level as your heart.Avoid leaning back while the measurementis being taken.

Your heart is located slightly below your arm pit.

10 Measurement

10.1 Procedure

1.Press the POWER button. All

display segments will appear for approximately one second before returning to “0”

2. The unit will automatically inflate to the appropriate inflation level based on the user's pulse oscillations. Measurement will then begin.

To interrupt the measurement, simply press any key. The cuff will deflate immediately after a key is pressed. During the measurement, do not talk or move your arm or hand muscles.

3.When the measurement is completed,systolic, diastolic and

pulse will be shown simultaneously and be saved automatically in the memory system. Up to 90 results can be saved.

4.Press the POWER button to turn

off the power. If no button is pressed, the unit will shut off automatically in 1 minute.

When a mistake was detected during measurement the Error mark appears on the display.

11 Recalling memorized results

To recall stored blood pressure measurement results from the memory:

•Press the MEMORY button. The last memorized result will be displayed.

• Press the MEMORY button again

to recall the previous result...

When the batteries are installed, the data in the memories will not be lost even when the Blood Pressure Monitor is switched off. Remove the batteries for more than 10 seconds to erase the memories.

•Plug the AC adapter into the wall socket.

13 Topcom Warranty

13.1 Warranty period

The Topcom units have a 24-month warranty period. The warranty period starts on the day the new unit is purchased. Consumables or defects causing a negligible effect on operation or value of the equipment are not covered.

The warranty has to be proven by presentation of the original purchase receipt, on which the date of purchase and the unit-model are indicated.

13.2 Warranty handling

A faulty unit needs to be returned to a Topcom service centre including a valid purchase note.

If the unit develops a fault during the warranty period, Topcom or its officially appointed service centre will repair any defects caused by material or manufacturing faults free of charge.

Topcom will at its discretion fulfil its warranty obligations by either repairing or exchanging the faulty units or parts of the faulty units. In case of replacement, colour and model can be different from the original purchased unit.

The initial purchase date shall determine the start of the warranty period. The warranty period is not extended if the unit is exchanged or repaired by Topcom or its appointed service centres.

13.3 Warranty exclusions

Damage or defects caused by incorrect treatment or operation and damage resulting from use of non-original parts or accessories not recommended by Topcom are not covered by the warranty.

The warranty does not cover damage caused by outside factors, such as lightning, water and fire, nor any damage caused during transportation.

No warranty can be claimed if the serial number on the units has been changed, removed or rendered illegible.

1 Inleiding

Gefeliciteerd met uw aankoop van de Topcom BPM wrist 1900f. Deze volautomatische bloeddrukmeter is gebruiksvriendelijk en ideaal voor dagelijkse metingen. Op het grote display worden bovendruk- (systolisch), onderdruk- (diastolisch) en polsslagwaarden weergegeven, allemaal duidelijk af te lezen op het eind van elke meting. Bovendien kunt u tot 90 metingen in het geheugen opslaan, ideaal voor gebruikers die hun bloeddruk regelmatig willen controleren en opvolgen. De BPM 1900f is compact en draagbaar, en zo ideaal voor gebruik thuis en onderweg.

Lees deze handleiding aandachtig alvorens het toestel te gebruiken. Voor specifieke informatie over uw eigen bloeddruk, raden we u aan uw arts te raadplegen. Bewaar de gebruikershandleiding op een veilige plaats voor later gebruik.

2 Veiligheidsinstructies

1.Dit toestel is enkel geschikt voor huishoudelijk gebruik. Het is niet de bedoeling om met deze meter een raadpleging bij uw dokter te vervangen.

2.Voor gebruikers die lijden aan aritmie (atriale of ventriculaire premature hartslag of atriale fibrillatie), suikerziekte, slechte bloedsomloop, nieraandoeningen, of voor gebruikers die een beroerte hebben gekregen of gebruikers die buiten bewustzijn zijn, is het toestel niet geschikt. In geval van twijfel, raadpleeg uw arts.

3.Dit toestel mag niet worden gebruikt door kinderen, anders kunnen gevaarlijke situaties ontstaan.

4.Het toestel omvat precisiecomponenten. Daarom moet het worden beschermd tegen extreme temperaturen, vochtigheid en direct zonlicht. Laat het toestel niet vallen en vermijd sterke schokken. Bescherm het tegen stof.

5.Lekkende batterijen kunnen schade aan het toestel veroorzaken. Verwijder de batterijen wanneer u het toestel langere tijd niet gebruikt.

6.Druk niet op de START-knop wanneer de armband niet rond de arm is geplaatst.

7.Demonteer het toestel of de polsband niet.

8.Als het toestel op een koude plaats wordt bewaard, laat het dan eerst op kamertemperatuur komen alvorens het te gebruiken.

9.Reinig de bloeddrukmeter en de polsband zorgvuldig met een licht vochtige, zachte doek. Oefen geen druk uit. Draai de voorgevormde polsband niet binnenstebuiten. Was de polsband niet en gebruik ook geen chemisch reinigingsmiddel om hem te reinigen. Gebruik nooit verdunner, alcohol of benzine als reinigingsmiddel.

4 Handige tips

Hieronder vindt u enkele handige tips die u helpen nauwkeurigere resultaten te verkrijgen:

•Meet uw bloeddruk niet onmiddellijk nadat u uitgebreid heeft gegeten. Om nauwkeurigere resultaten te verkrijgen, wacht u het best één uur vooraleer te meten.

•Rook niet of drink geen alcohol voordat u uw bloeddruk meet.

•Tijdens een meting mag u niet lichamelijk moe of uitgeput zijn.

•Het is belangrijk dat u tijdens de meting ontspant. Probeer 15 minuten te rusten vooraleer uw bloeddruk te meten.

•Meet uw bloeddruk niet als u gestrest of gespannen bent.

•Meet uw bloeddruk bij een normale lichaamstemperatuur. Als u het koud of warm heeft, wacht u beter een beetje vooraleer uw bloeddruk te meten.

•Als de meter op een erg koude plaats wordt opgeslagen, (dichtbij vriestemperatuur), zet hem dan gedurende minstens één uur in een warme ruimte vooraleer hem te gebruiken.

•Wacht ongeveer 5 minuten vooraleer u opnieuw uw bloeddruk meet.

5 Bloeddruk

5.1Wat is bloeddruk?

Bloeddruk is de druk die wordt uitgeoefend op de slagaderwand door het bloed dat door de slagaders stroomt. De druk die wordt gemeten wanneer het hart samentrekt en bloed uit het hart stuwt, is systolisch (bovendruk). De druk die wordt gemeten wanneer het hart uitzet door het bloed dat terugstroomt naar het hart wordt de diastolische (onderdruk) bloeddruk genoemd.

5.2Waarom moet u uw bloeddruk meten?

Van de verschillende gezondheidsproblemen waarmee de moderne mens heeft af te rekenen, komen problemen gepaard met een hoge bloeddruk verreweg het vaakst voor. Door de gevaarlijk sterke correlatie tussen hoge bloeddruk en cardiovasculaire aandoeningen en het hoge ziektecijfer zijn bloeddrukmetingen noodzakelijk geworden om de risicogroepen te identificeren.

5.3Bloeddruknorm

De Wereldgezondheidsorganisatie (WHO) heeft een bloeddruknorm ontwikkeld aan de hand waarvan bloeddrukwaarden met laag en hoog risico worden geïdentificeerd. Die norm is echter slechts een algemene richtlijn, want de individuele bloeddruk verschilt van persoon tot persoon en van groep tot groep...enz.

Het is belangrijk dat u regelmatig uw arts raadpleegt. Uw arts zal u vertellen wat uw normale bloeddrukbereik is en vanaf welke waarde u risico loopt.

5.4Bloeddrukschommeling

De bloeddruk schommelt heel de tijd!

U hoeft zich nog niet ongerust te maken als u twee of drie keer een hoge bloeddruk meet. De bloeddruk verandert in de loop van de maand en zelfs in de loop van de dag, afhankelijk van de omstandigheden (gemoedsgesteldheid, temperatuur, ...)

6 Batterijen plaatsen

•Open het batterijvak door aan de batterijdekselclip te trekken.

•Plaats de 4 AA batterijen. Let op de in het batterijvak aangeduide polariteit.

•Plaats de batterijdeksel terug.

Gooi de batterijen bij het klein gevaarlijk afval en niet bij het gewone huisvuil. Maak geen kortsluiting & gooi de batterijen niet in vuur. Verwijder de batterij als u het toestel langere tijd niet gebruikt.

9 De armband aanbrengen

1.Steek de verbindingsbuis voor de

armband in het toestel.

2. Haal de armband uit de verpakking, laat het "Index"- uiteinde van de armband door de D-ring van de armband

3.	Steek uw linkerarm door de lus van
	de armband. Zorg ervoor dat de
y	"OK"-indicatie naar uw schouder toe
	is gericht en de rubberbuis naar uw
	arm. Plaats het slagader-symbool

() over de hoofdslagader (op de binnenkant van uw arm) in de bovenarm.

4.Draai de palm van uw linkerhand naar boven en plaats de rand van de armband ongeveer 2 tot 3 cm boven de binnenkant van het ellebooggewricht. Span de armband aan door het "Index"-uiteinde van de band aan te trekken. Als de Index-lijn binnen het OK-bereik valt dat op de rand van de armband is gemarkeerd, is de armband klaar voor gebruik. Als de Index-lijn buiten het OK-bereik valt, kan het zijn dat u een armband nodig heeft met een andere meetomtrek.

5.Ontspan uw hele lichaam, vooral de zone tussen uw elleboog en vingers. Plaats uw elleboog op een tafel zodat de band op dezelfde hoogte van uw hart ligt. Leun niet achteruit tijdens de meting.

Uw hart bevindt zich iets onder uw oksel.

10 Meting

10.1 Procedure

1.Druk op de POWER-knop. Alle

display-segmenten verschijnen ongeveer één seconde vooraleer opnieuw naar "0" te gaan.

2. Het toestel pompt de band automatisch op tot het passende niveau, op basis van de polsoscillaties van de gebruiker. Dan begint de meting.

Om de meting te onderbreken, drukt u gewoon op een willekeurige toets. De armband zal onmiddellijk leeglopen nadat op een toets is gedrukt.

Praat tijdens de meting niet en beweeg ook uw armof handspieren niet.

3.Op het einde van de meting worden tegelijkertijd de bovendruk, onderdruk en

polsslag weergegeven. Deze waarden worden automatisch opgeslagen in het geheugen. Er kunnen max. 90 resultaten worden opgeslagen.

4. Druk op de POWER-knop om het toestel uit te schakelen. Als geen enkele knop wordt ingedrukt, zal het toestel na 1 minuut automatisch worden uitgeschakeld.

Wanneer tijdens de meting een fout wordt vastgesteld, verschijnt het Error-symbool op de display.

11 Opgeslagen resultaten oproepen

Opgeslagen resultaten van bloeddrukmetingen uit het geheugen oproepen:

•Druk op de MEMORY-knop. Het laatst opgeslagen resultaat wordt

weergegeven.

• Druk nogmaals op de MEMORYknop om het vorige resultaat op te roepen...

Wanneer de batterijen in het batterijvak zijn geplaatst, gaan de gegevens in de geheugenzones niet verloren, ook niet wanneer de Bloeddrukmeter wordt uitgeschakeld.

Om de geheugens te wissen, haalt u de batterijen gedurende meer dan 10 seconden uit het batterijvak.

13 Topcom Garantie

13.1 Garantieperiode

Op de Topcom-toestellen wordt een garantie van 24 maanden verleend. De garantieperiode begint op de dag waarop het nieuwe toestel wordt gekocht. Kleine onderdelen of defecten die een verwaarloosbaar effect hebben op de werking of waarde van het toestel zijn niet gedekt door de garantie.

De garantie moet worden bewezen door voorlegging van het aankoopbewijs waarop de datum van aankoop en het toesteltype staan.

13.2 Afwikkeling van garantieclaims

Een defect toestel moet, samen met een geldig aankoopbewijs, worden teruggestuurd naar een Topcom-hersteldienst.

Als het toestel tijdens de garantieperiode een defect vertoont, zal Topcom of diens officieel erkende hersteldienst eventuele defecten te wijten aan materiaalof productiefouten gratis herstellen.

Topcom zal naar keuze haar garantieverplichtingen vervullen door defecte toestellen of onderdelen van defecte toestellen ofwel te herstellen ofwel te vervangen. In het geval dat het toestel wordt vervangen, kan de kleur en het model verschillend zijn van het oorspronkelijk gekochte toestel.

De oorspronkelijke aankoopdatum is bepalend voor het begin van de garantieperiode. De garantieperiode wordt niet verlengd als het toestel wordt vervangen of hersteld door Topcom of diens officieel erkende hersteldienst.

13.3 Garantiebeperkingen

Schade of defecten te wijten aan onoordeelkundig gebruik of bediening en schade te wijten aan het gebruik van niet-originele onderdelen of accessoires die niet zijn aanbevolen door Topcom, worden niet gedekt door de garantie. De garantie dekt geen schade te wijten aan externe factoren, zoals bliksem, water en brand, noch enige transportschade.

Er kan geen garantie worden ingeroepen als het serienummer op het toestel is gewijzigd, verwijderd of onleesbaar gemaakt.

Garantieclaims zijn ongeldig indien het toestel hersteld, gewijzigd of aangepast werd door de koper of door niet-gekwalificeerde, niet-officieel erkende Topcom-hersteldienst.

1 Introduction

Félicitations pour l’achat du Topcom BPM wrist 1900f. Ce tensiomètre, entièrement automatique est facile à utiliser et convient parfaitement à une utilisation quotidienne. Le grand écran affiche la tension systolique, la tension diastolique et le rythme cardiaque, tous trois clairement visibles à la fin de chaque cycle de mesure.

En outre, vous pouvez enregistrer jusque 90 mesures, ce qui est idéal pour les utilisateurs souhaitant contrôler et suivre leur tension artérielle sur une base régulière. Le BPM wrist 1900f est compact et portable, il est donc idéal pour une utilisation à domicile et en voyage.

2 Instructions de sécurité

1.Ce produit est prévu pour un usage ménager uniquement. Il ne remplace aucunement une consultation chez votre médecin.

2.L’appareil peut ne pas convenir pour utilisateurs souffrant d’une arythmie commune (auriculaire ou ventriculaire ou fibrillation auriculaire), du diabète, d’une mauvaise circulation du sang, de problèmes rénaux, pour les utilisateurs ayant eu une attaque, ou pour les utilisateurs inconscients. Consultez votre médecin en cas de doute.

3.L’appareil ne doit pas être utilisé par des enfants en vue d’éviter toute situation dangereuse.

4.L’appareil contient des pièces de haute précision. Par conséquent, évitez les températures extrêmes, l’humidité et la lumière directe du soleil. Évitez de laisser tomber ou de donner un choc puissant à l’unité principale, et protégez-la de la poussière.

5.Une fuite des piles peut endommager l’unité. Enlevez les piles lorsque l’unité n’est pas utilisée pendant un long moment.

6.N’appuyez pas sur le bouton START lorsque le manchon n’est pas placé autour du bras.

7.Ne démontez pas l’unité principale ou le manchon.

8.Si l’unité est conservée dans un endroit frais, laissez-la s’acclimater à la température ambiante avant de l’utiliser.

9.Nettoyez le tensiomètre et le manchon avec un chiffon doux légèrement humide. N’appuyez pas. Ne pliez pas le manchon préformé de l’intérieur vers l’extérieur. Ne lavez pas le manchon et n’utilisez pas de nettoyant chimique dessus. N’utilisez jamais de dissolvant, d’alcool ou d’essence comme nettoyant.

4 Conseils utiles

Voici quelques conseils utiles pour vous aider à obtenir des mesures plus précises :

•Ne mesurez pas votre tension artérielle immédiatement après avoir consommé un grand repas. Pour obtenir des mesures plus précises, veuillez attendre une heure avant de mesurer.

•Ne fumez pas et ne buvez pas d’alcool avant de prendre votre tension artérielle.

•Pour prendre votre tension, vous ne devez pas être fatigué physiquement.

•Il est important que vous soyez détendu pendant une mesure. Essayez de vous reposer 15 minutes avant de la prendre.

•Ne prenez pas votre tension si vous êtes stressé ou tendu.

•Prenez votre tension à température normale du corps. Si vous avez froid ou chaud, attendez un peu avant de prendre votre tension.

•Si le moniteur est conservé à des températures très basses (proches du gel), placez-le dans un endroit chauffé pendant au moins une heure avant de l’utiliser.

•Attendez environ 5 minutes avant de prendre la mesure suivante.

5 Tension artérielle

5.1Qu’est-ce que la tension artérielle?

La tension artérielle est la tension exercée sur les parois artérielles lorsque le sang passe dans les artères. La tension mesurée lorsque le cœur se contracte et envoie du sang hors du cœur est dite systolique (plus élevée). La tension mesurée lorsque le cœur se dilate avec le sang revenant dans le cœur est appelée tension diastolique (plus faible).

5.2Pourquoi mesurer votre tension artérielle?

Parmi les différents problèmes de santé touchant les gens à l’heure actuelle, les problèmes associés à une hypertension sont de loin les plus fréquents. La corrélation entre l’hypertension, les maladies cardiovasculaires et une mortalité élevée exige de mesurer la tension artérielle en vue d’identifier les personnes à risque.

5.3Norme de tension artérielle

L’Organisation Mondiale de la Santé (OMS) a développé une norme de tension artérielle, déterminant les zones d’hypotension et d’hypertension. Cette norme ne constitue toutefois qu’une directive générale étant donné que la tension individuelle varie d’une personne à l’autre et d’un groupe à l’autre, etc.

5.4Fluctuation de la tension artérielle

la tension artérielle fluctue tout le temps !

Vous ne devez pas vous inquiéter si vous avez deux ou trois mesures à des niveaux élevés. la tension artérielle change dans le mois et même au cours d’une journée selon les circonstances (état d’esprit, température, ...)

Ex. Fluctuation dans la journée d’un homme âgé de 35 ans.

6 Installation des piles

•Tirez sur l’onglet du couvercle du compartiment à batterie et retirez le couvercle.

•Insérez 4 piles AA. Respectez la polarité indiquée dans le compartiment à piles.

•Replacez le couvercle des piles.

Débarrassez vous des piles dans un lieu de dépôt de piles prévu à cet effet ou pas dans les déchets ménagers. Ne les court-circuitez pas et ne les jetez pas dans le feu. Enlevez les piles si cet appareil ne doit pas être utilisé pendant une longue période.

9Placer le manchon

1.Branchez le manchon en connectant

le tube dans l’appareil.

2.Ouvrez le manchon, en laissant

		l’extrémité " Index " du manchon dans
		la boucle métallique du manchon.
		3. Passez votre bras gauche dans le
y		manchon. L’indication "OK" doit être
		positionnée plus près de vous, le tube
		en caoutchouc dans la direction de
	y	votre bras. Positionnez le marque de
		l’artère (	) sur l’artère principale (à
		l’intérieur de votre bras) du bras.

4.Tournez votre paume gauche vers le haut et placez le bord du manchon approximativement 2 à 3 cm audessus du côté intérieur de votre coude. Serrez le manchon en tirant sur l’extrémité " Index " du manchon. Si la ligne Index est dans la zone OK, indiquée au bord du manchon, le manchon est bien placé pour vous et peut être utilisé. Si la ligne Index tombe hors de cette zone OK, il se peut que vous ayez besoin d’un manchon avec d’autres circonférences de bras pour la mesure.

5.Détendez tout votre corps, particulièrement la zone entre le coude et les doigts. Placez votre coude sur une table de façon à ce que le manchon soit au même niveau que votre cœur. Évitez de vous pencher en arrière lors de la mesure.

Votre cœur est situé légèrement en dessous de votre aisselle.
