Both sides of the strip have raised
ribs spaced 2” apart and are offset by
1

2” front to back. Ribbed strips are
ideal for heavy traffic strip doors
because they significantly reduce
scratching, so the door remains
clearer and safer.
USDA material is made of compounds
that meet federal requirements for
incidental contact with meat, poultry,
and dairy products. This product is recommended for indoor and outdoor applications, in temperatures ranging from
–20° F to 140°F. Extra Low Temp. is
available for applications to –75°F.
Frosted PVC material offers a translucent quality that allows light transmission but restricts a clear view through
the strip.
LOW TEMPERATURE GRADE PVC IS
RECOMMENDED FOR USE IN FREEZERS
AND EXTERIOR APPLICATIONS AT
TEMPERATURES AS LOW AS –20°F.

Amber and Aztec Red colored transparent
PVC protects against the effects of UV
light emitted during arc welding. However, eye protection should be worn for
direct viewing of welding arcs even
through this material.
Anti-Static material meets or exceeds the
specifications of Federal Test Methods
ST.101C and 4046. The electrical charge
decay rate is 0.50 sec. with a charge
potential of 5,000 volts. Please note: Any
product liabilities are the sole responsibility of the end-user of that product.

This material provides most of the benefits of Standard PVC, except it maintains
flexibility at a temperature as low as
–20° F. It is designed for both interior and
exterior applications. USDA material is
made of compounds that meet federal
requirements for incidental contact with
meat, poultry, and dairy products.
Standard flexible, transparent PVC is
available in rolls 36'' to 60'' wide. Ideal
for all-weather applications, this product
is formulated with an ultraviolet stabilizer
and a flame retardant additive. This
material is recommended for applications ranging from 0°F to 150°F.
These materials have the same properties
as standard flexible PVC. However, the
black and gray are completely opaque
and the reinforced material has nylon
threads that are embedded into the transparent PVC.

determine how much PVC Strip
Material will be needed for your project.
Based on the door height, the location
and kind of traffic, different sizes of strip
material (above charts) are available in
six different overlap patterns (drawings to
the right). For interior doors apply minimum strip overlap, for exterior doors apply
maximum overlap. For heavy-duty traffic
applications, use offset double ribbed material.

overlap percentage for the strip door

Step 2: Use those numbers to find the
linear footage factor on the chart

Physical Properties of
PVC Materials
Thermal conductivity is the quantity of heat
passing in “unit” time through a piece of
“unit” area and “unit” thickness with a temperature differential of one degree between
the faces. The values in this table were
obtained using ASTM Test C-177.
All of TMI, LLC’s flexible PVC strip
and sheet products are designed and tested
for both commercial and industrial applications. The materials represented in this catalog have been tested using American
Standard Test Methods (ASTM).
The Anti-Static performance at 73°F and 40% RM charge in kilo volts is as follows:

Flexible PVC can reduce noise level from
10 db to 35 db depending on the thickness
of the material. The figures in this table are
the results from ASTM Test E-90 and clearly
indicate the noise reduction potential of
PVC material.
This material should be considered for
“Clean Room” enclosures or high tech areas
where static build-up might be a detriment.
Our flexible materials either meet or exceed
the California Health and Safety Code
requirements of the State Fire Marshal Code
for flame retardation.
An ultraviolet inhibitor has been incorporated
into the compound of our clear materials to
reduce fading and yellowing. This inhibitor
also improves the material’s weatherability.
Our Amber material is also formulated to
deter the affects of ultraviolet and near ultraviolet light. This chart shows the correlation
between a carbon arc and our Amber product.

Swinging Doors
All hardware is constructed of
stainless steel with a lifetime
warranty against corrosion.
TMI Polar-Pro™ Swinging Doors are made
of USDA Low Temp PVC material and
allow fast, easy access to temperature
sensitive areas. The unique “swinging
hardware” allows the door to open in and
out on an even plane, and is the only
hardware that maintains a tight seal along
the top of the door opening and around
the hinges. This stainless steel hardware
system is the only fully adjustable system
for in-jamb alignment and opening/closing
speed control. This unique design allows
the main door to be closed without interference.

Specialty Doors
These models are available in 6” and 8” wide
PVC strip material in both
USDA Low Temp and
Standard grades. The Low
Temp grade is recommended for freezer applications to – 20°F.
Mounting hardware and
brackets are all aluminum.
Each strip has a heatsealed loop at the top
which slides onto the
mounting bar. This design
alleviates stress at the
point of contact with traffic. It also allows the strips
to be rotated or replaced
easily.

Dock Lights & Dock Accessories
TMI offers a line of Dock Lights with arms from
24'' to 115''. Incandescent, compact fluorescent,
polycarbonate, high-pressure sodium, metal
halide and quartz halogen light heads are available. Specialty lights are available. Most lights
can ship immediately from our large inventory.
The line of dock bumpers includes laminated,
extra-length, extra-thick, steel faced, extruded
and molded. We also carry overhead door
tracks, parking blocks, speed bumps and wheel
chocks.
The Auto Riser prevents spotted trailers from
tipping over due to landing gear collapse. This
revolutionary new trailer stand complies with
OSHA regulations and will keep your loading
area safe and accident free.The Auto Riser has
a static load capacity of up to 100,000 lbs.
Air Doors are engineered to create an invisi-
ble wall that separates environments. Not only
does it stabilize work area temperatures, but it
saves on expensive energy costs.
Air Doors provide year round comfort for
customers and employees. Our Industrial
Air Doors are used for both interior or exterior doorways at plants and warehouses
and we have heating options available.
All Commercial and Industrial Series Air Doors
have heating options. Although electric heaters
are the most popular, steam, hot water and
gas-fired units are available.
Industrial Curtains & Enclosures
Softwall partitions are the most inexpensive
solution to contain environmental problems
such as dust, smoke, humidity, adverse temperatures and noise. Our Pipe Staff design
adds stability and security with “lock-up” cane
bolts and “lock-down” wall brackets.
Weld Screens are free-standing and custom
made to your specifications. The PVC
Screens have heat sealed hems on all four
sides using an electronic welding process.
Grommets are placed at 12" centers, to eliminate ripping and tearing. Frames consist of
7
⁄8" galvanized square tubing. Heavy-duty
square tube legs eliminate excess sway and
wobble. Available in transparent or opaque
PVC.
