3. Electric water heater should be mounted on a firm wall.
4. The wall where the electric water heater is to be mounted must withstand
at least the double weight of the water heater fully filled with water. There
must be no cracks and other damages on the wall. Otherwise, it is necessary
to take measures to strengthen the mounting or install the water heater on
a special support.
5. If a bathroom is too small the water heater can be installed in any other
place unexposed to direct sunlight and beyond the reach of moisture.
However, to reduce heat losses in pipelines the location where the water
heater is to be installed must be as close to the place of hot water use as
possible.
Water heater mounting
1. After you have chosen a proper place to install the water heater
determine points for holes for fixing of mounting strip, putting the strip to a
wall. Drill holes of corresponding depth in the wall using a drill dimensionally
fit for anchor bolts delivered together with the water heater. Next, fix the
mounting strip on a wall with help of screws. After that you should mount
water heater on a mounting strip (fig. 7).
2. Fasten an AC main socket to the wall. Requirements to the socket are
as follows: ~220V / 10А, single-phase, three wires. It is recommended to
place the socket from the right side higher of the water heater.
NOTE:
To install the water heater, please, use accessories
provided by the manufacturer. Electric water heater
must not be mounted onto the wall before you make
sure that the mounting strip is installed firmly and
securely. Otherwise, the electric water heater may fall
down from the wall that may cause its damage and
even more serious accidents involving harm to health
and personal injuries.
Fig. 7
NOTE:
In the places accessible for water the AC electrical
main socket must be installed on a height of at least
1.8 m from the ground.
Connection to the water main
1. The water heater must be connected to the water main with minimum
pressure of 0.1 MPa and maximum pressure of 0.7 MPa.
6
www.timberk.com • electrical storage water heater
NOTE:
The water heater is the appliance operating in such
a manner that pressure of water in the water heater
corresponds to the pressure of water in the water main.
If pressure in the water main exceeds 0.7 MPa then it
is necessary to install a pressure reducer before the
water heater so that pressure will not exceed 0.7 MPa.
2. To connect the water heater to the water main apply pipes with diameter
of G1/2.
3. To prevent water leakage when connecting pipes use rubber sealing
gaskets on the threaded pipe ends.
4. Screw the safety pressure valve onto the inlet nozzle marked with blue
colour and an arrow pointed water flow direction so that the water flow
direction coincides with direction of the arrow on the valve case.
NOTE:
Do not install additional accessories, such as a cutoff valve, between the safety pressure valve and inlet
nozzle.
5. Water heater with the mounted valve must be connected to the water
main – install a shut-off valve at the water inlet point. You need to connect
a drain pipe to the opening of the pressure relief of safety valve. Next you
should put a drain pipe to the sewer.
6. Connect a desired number of consumption points to the outlet nozzle
marked with red colour.
7. Check leak tightness of joints: open the cut-off valve and one of the outlet
valves. After the tank is filled with water, as evidenced by outflow of water
from the outlet valve, turn off the outlet valve and check leak tightness of all
the joints.
IMPORTANT!
If water in the location of installation contains a large
amount of calcium, manganese or ferric salts it is
necessary to mount an appropriate filter in the supply
system to reduce the amount of boiler scale in the
tank and on the heating element.
Connection to the electrical main
IMPORTANT!
Prior to connecting the tank water heater make sure
that the water heater is properly grounded. Proper
grounding is important to minimize electric shocks
and risk of fire. The power cord is equipped with a
plug with a grounding pin. The appliance must be
used with a properly grounded power outlet. If the
outlet you intend to use is not properly grounded or
grounded by a time-delay fuse or a circuit breaker
address to a qualified electrician to install a proper
outlet.
1. The water heater is designed to be connected to ~220V single-phase
electrical main. Prior to connecting make sure that parameters of the
electrical main in the point of connection correspond to the parameters
specified on the identification plate with technical characteristics of the
appliance. You should observe the current electrical safety code when
installing the water heater.
2. Power outlet must be designed for rated current of 10A at least; copperconductor power cord must be at least 3x1.5 mm
copper). The power outlet and the plug must always remain dry to prevent
current leakage. Check regularly if the power plug is tightly connected to
the outlet. Do it in the following order: insert the power plug into the outlet;
in half an hour switch off the water heater and unplug the cord; check by
your hand if the plug is heated. If the plug is heated over 50°C replace the
outlet with a new one to prevent damages, accidents and fire due to bad
electrical contact. A specialist must do this.

9. WATER HEATER CONTROL
1. At first, open one of the outlet valves on the outlet of the water heater;
then open the inlet valve. The electric water heater will start filling in with
water. When water flows from the outlet valve freely it means that the water
heater is fully filled with water, and you can close the outlet valve.
Warning: During normal operation the inlet valve must be set open.
2. Plug the power cord into the outlet, after this the handle light will be on.
IMPORTANT!
Power outlet must be designed for rated current of
10A at least; copper-conductor power cord must be
at least 3x1.5 mm2 in cross-section (for copper).
3. Set the desired temperature of water by the temperature controller
handle by rotating the handle; “HEATING” indicator lamp (fig. 8) will flash
on. When water reaches the preset temperature “HEATING” indicator lamp
will go out. When water temperature drops to a certain level heating will
be switched on automatically and restore the required water temperature.
4. After rotating the handle to the position «MIN» the minimum temperature
+30°C (± 5°C) would be seted. After puting the handle in to position «MAX»,
the maximum temperature would be set +70°C (± 5°C).
5. There is a “COMFORT” sign on the panel. It signifies optimal temperature
of heating. Fixing the temperature controller handle in position “COMFORT”
you choose the most efficient mode of electricity consumption.
6. To turn off the water heater set the switch handle to position « » and
unplug the power cord.
IMPORTANT!
Water can drip from the pressure safety valve upon
heating. IT IS IMPOSSIBLE TO AVOID DRIPPING
AND IT IS FORBIDDEN TO PREVENT IT BECAUSE
IT CAN RESULT IN TANK RUPTURE (IN THE CASE
OF EQUIPMENT FAILURE). Working ability of the
pressure safety valve should be inspected every
14 days. The inspection method is described in the
section 9 (MAINTENANCE).
10. MAINTENANCE
1. Check the power plug and outlet as often as possible. Secure electrical

low air temperature (below 0°C), it is necessary to drain the water heater to
prevent damage of the appliance (due to water freezing in the inner tank).
To do so it is necessary to:
- disconnect the water heater from the electrical main;
- turn the water off by the cut-off valve;
- open the hot water tap and drain the system.
3. To ensure long-term reliable operation of the water heater it is
recommended to clean the inner tank regularly and remove deposits from
the electric heating elements of the appliance as well as check condition
(fully decomposed or not) of the magnesium anode and, if necessary,
replace it with a new one in case of full decomposition.
Frequency of tank cleaning depends upon hardness of water available
in a given territory. Cleaning must be performed by special maintenance
services. You can ask the seller for the address of the nearest service
centre or find it on the website www.timberk.com.
IMPORTANT!
The manufacturer grants an extended guarantee for

horizontal position; water will flow out from the pressure relieving opening
(refer to the figure 9).
For SWH SE1 VU series:
- disconnect the water heater from the water main and consumption point;
rotate it 180 degrees; water will flow out from the outlet nozzle.
It is possible not to drain the tank, but set the water heater on minimum
heating temperature with constant connection to electric supply.
IMPORTANT!
Never drain the appliance if water temperature is over
50°C since it may result in burns.
4. Schedule maintenance should be performed under strict observance of
this instruction manual and safety precautions.
5. The water heater is equipped with a temperature limiter (figure 10)
which cuts off power supply to the heating element upon water overheating
or its absence in the water heater. If the water heater is connected to the
electrical main, but water does not heats and the handle lamp does not
light then the temperature limiter was switched off or not switched on. To
reset the water heater to the operating condition it is necessary to:
- unplug the water heater from the electrical main, remove the face panel
cover;
- press the button located in the centre of the temperature limiter placed on
the heating element until it clicks;

temperature limiter turns off repeatedly during a short
period of time then you should unplug the water
heater from the electrical main, cut off water supply
and contact your local Timberk Authorized Service
Centre for a consultation or repair of the appliance.
6. Bear in mind to check serviceability of the pressure safety valve every 14
days. The inspection method is as follows:
- turn the handle for draining to the upper position until you feel the change
of thread, then water must start flowing out from the valve opening; after
checking the water outflow return the handle to its initial position.
IMPORTANT!
If water does not flow then the valve is damaged.
In this case you must not use the heater; it is
recommended to call for a service technician.
7. Wipe external surfaces of the water heater by a damp cloth with soap
when necessary.
11. TROUBLESHOOTING
All the disorders in operation of the water heater should be fixed as well
