The new technical landmark from Thule Audio is the V350, a small but immensely worthwhile optional video switching upgrade board for the Space PR350B processor. The Sphere AV100S and AV120S integrated home theatre amplifiers are equipped with V350 as standard.

To make a very long story short, the V350 improves the quality of all video signals. A VHS or normal TV-signal become instantly clearer and sharper defined when connected through the V350. In popular terms, you can say that it upgrades all signal types to the next quality step. Composite becomes S-video quality, and S-video is almost upgraded to component/RGB. Even RGB and component signals e.g. from your DVD-player may in many cases benefit from the V350. For the real hard-core aficionados, please note that you can also choose whether the sync signal is embedded or separated from RGB.

As usual, like with our processors and the Digit II CD/DVD 24-bit/192Khz upsampler, we have handpicked the components for the V350 and put them together adding a significant Thule twist. We have used the Texas Instruments TDP5145 A/D converter and video decoder and combined it with the Analog Devices ADV7191 encoder and D/A-converter to produce what can only be described as one of the world’s absolute best and most advanced comb filters for home use.

This comb process also normally takes place in your TV or projector and converts all signals to RGB or component format for the screen to “understand”, but this filtering and conversion is far simpler and less accurate than the V350’s.

Another interior-friendly effect of connecting a V350 is that you now can run all video sources on your TV or projector with just one single set of connectors. Thus, you don’t have to change between the various input channels on your TV to switch video sources, but simply stay on the channel where you have selected V350.

The V350 thereby transforms the Sphere AV100S/120S into true AV-amplifiers by adding these unique video-processing improvements to the already impressive musical qualities.
