between the loudspeaker terminals, will trigger the protection
circuit. The protection will continue to trigger every one second
until the low impedance load is removed. Short-circuit either of the
loudspeaker terminals to the cabinet, ground or signal cables can
damage the amplifier. Always turn off the amplifier when
connecting or removing loudspeaker cables or signal cables.

unbalanced input (e.g. some spectrum analysers or speaker switch
boxes).

Mains Switch
The light indication in the display state if the amplifier is turned
on. The amplifier is turned on by pushing "1" on the mains switch
on the rear panel.
Further the amplifier is equipped with a safety breaker contact
placed at the left side at the bottom. This safety breaker switch is
then easily accessible from the front and can be used e.g. in
emergency situations. Both the mains switch on the rear panel and
the safety breaker switch must be in "on" position before the
amplifier is turned on.

Standby/operate
In operate condition the "Virtual Class A®" circuit require a slightly

higher idle current to operate than normal class AB amplifiers, thus
the PA250B/PA350B will obtain a surface temperature of 40-50C
with no load, depending of the ambient temperature. The "high
efficiency" powersupply will however limit further temperature rise
even under quite heavy load.
When the amplifier is not used, the amplifier should be set in
standby mode. This is accomplished by pushing the "STBY" knob.
In standby mode, the amplifier’s circuit is still active, but power
consumption is minimized.
From turning on the mains switch it will last 2-4 hours before
sound performance is optimal, while from standby mode it will
only last 15-30 minutes. From standby mode the amplifier can be
set in operate mode by pushing the "STBY" knob again. Standby
can also be controlled externally by applying a low level voltage on
the Data I/O connector pin 3 (see technical specifications).
However, when the amplifier is not used for some days, please turn
off the mains switch to avoid unnecessary power consumption.

Input selector
The "2ch/5ch" push knob on the front panel controls if the
amplifier is in 2x 250/350W or 5x 100/120W mode. At the same
time the rear panel input is switched between the "2 channel
connectors" and the "multi channel connectors".
In 2 channel mode the input can be switched between balanced
and unbalanced input by holding down the "STBY" knob in approx.
two seconds: "b" = balanced or "U" = unbalanced shows in the
display.

Netafbryder
Lysindikation i displayet fortæller om forstærkeren er slukket eller
tændt. Forstærkeren tændes ved at trykke "1" på netafbryderen på
bagsiden af apparatet.
Forstærkeren er endvidere udstyret med en sikkerhedsafbryder
placeret i venstre side på undersiden af apparatet. Denne
sikkerhedsafbryder er således nem at betjene fra forpladen og kan
f.eks. benyttes i nødsituationer.
Både netafbryderen på bagpladen og sikkerhedsafbryderen skal
være i "on" position før forstærkeren er tændt.

Standby/aktiv tilstand
I aktiv tilstand kræver "Virtual Class A®" kredsløbet en lidt højere

hvilestrøm end almindelige klasse AB forstærkere, derfor vil
overfladetemperaturen være 40-50C
stuetemperaturen. "High efficiency" kredsløbet vil begrænse
yderligere temperaturstigninger selv med svære belastninger.
Når forstærkeren ikke bruges, bør forstærkeren sættes i standby.
Dette gøres ved at trykke på "STBY" knappen på forpladen. I
standby er forstærkerens kredsløb stadig aktive, men
effektforbruget er minimeret.
Fra apparatet tændes på netafbryderen vil der gå 2-4 timer før der
opnås optimal lydkvalitet. Fra standby tilstand vil der kun gå
15-30 minutter før optimal lydkvalitet opnås. Fra standby kan
forstærkeren sættes i aktiv tilstand ved tryk på "STBY" knappen
igen.
Forstærkeren kan også sættes i standby ved påtrykke en lav
spænding på Data I/O stikket, ben 3 (se tekniske specifikationer).
Hvis forstærkeren ikke anvendes i nogle dage, venligst sluk på
netafbryderen, for at undgå unødvendigt strømforbrug.

Indgangsvælger
"2ch/5ch" knappen på fronten styrer om forstærkeren er i
2x 250/350W eller 5x 100/120W tilstand. På samme tid skiftes
indgangene på bagpladen mellem "2 channel connectors" og "5
channel connectors".
I to kanal tilstand kan der vælges mellem balanceret (XLR) indgang
og ubalanceret indgang ved at holde "STBY" knappen nede i ca. 2
sekunder, hvorved displayet viser: "b" = balanceret eller "U" =
ubalanceret.

To give you full benefit from this advanced product, please
read this manual before you proceed.
PA250B/PA350B gives you unique flexibility:
In two channel mode you can enjoy stereo music with fully
balanced signal path for clean and detailed sound. And even
the most demanding bass transients is experienced with full
dynamic range, because of the extreme powerful output stage
with 2x 250/350W.
In multichannel mode the sound is redirected to 5-7 spea­kers, each with 100/120W power, to fit perfectly into your
surround sound or multichannel DVD-audio system.
Switching between two- and multichannel mode can be done in
three ways:

1) Manually from the front panel knob.

2) Controlled from the data interface (e.g. from PR250B).

3) Automatically from detection of signal in centre channel.

Placing
Place the amplifier on a hard and flat surface. The ventilation
holes must not be covered. There has to be at least 20 cm (8
inches) clearance above the amplifier and at least 5 cm (2
inches) around the sides for adequate ventilation. Do not place
CD player or other equipment on top of the amplifier.
To ensure long and trouble free operation we recommend:

-Do not expose the amplifier to direct sunlight.

-Do not place the amplifier in warm or dusty environments.

Connections, rear panel
"SUB OUT": Low level subwoofer output. The "sound stage"
from the PA250B/PA350B is forwarded to the subwoofer.
Multichannel input connectors:
"L": Left channel "R": Right channel
"SL": Surround left "SR": Surround right
"C": Centre
"S1": Optional surround 1 "S2": Optional surround 2
Two channel input connectors:
"Bal. input": Balanced XLR plug according to the
IEC specification: PIN 1: GND, PIN 2: +, PIN 3: ­"Unbalanced input": Unbalanced input connector.
Left and right speaker are connected to "L" and "R". Surround
left and surround right speaker are connected to "SL" and "SR".
The centre speaker is connected to "C". Be sure that the
loudspeakers are connected in phase.

The mains plug must be connected to the mains voltage
printed on the rear panel.

Cleaning
Turn off the mains switch before cleaning. Do never use
chemicals.

PA250B/PA350B giver dig en unik fleksibilitet i dit lydanlæg:
I to-kanal tilstand kan du opleve stereomusik med fuld
balanceret signalvej, og du opnår dermed en ren og detaljeret
lyd. Selv de kraftigste bastransienter opleves med fuld styrke
pga. det ekstremt kraftige udgangstrin med 2x 250W/350W.
I multikanal tilstand bliver lyden omdirigeret til 5-7 højttalere,
hvor hver udgangsforstærker har 100/120W, hvilket får
PA250B/PA350B til at passe perfekt ind i dit surround system.
Omskiftning mellem to- og multikanal tilstand kan gøres på tre
måder:

1) Manuelt fra knap på forplade.

2) Kontrolleret via datainterfacet fra f.eks. SPACE PR250B.

3) Automatisk ved signaldetektion i centerkanalen.

Placering
Placer forstærkeren på et hårdt, plant underlag. Ventila­tionshullerne må ikke tildækkes. Der skal være mindst 20 cm
fri luft over forstærkeren og 5cm fri luft i siderne af for­stærkeren. Placer ikke CD-afspiller eller andet udstyr oven på
forstærkeren. For at sikre lang problemfri anvendelse af
forstærkeren bør følgende regler overholdes:

- Udsæt ikke forstærkeren for direkte sollys.

- Placering i varme eller støvede omgivelser bør undgås.

Tilslutninger
"SUB OUT": Lavt niveau subwoofer udgang, der videresender
klangbilledet fra PA250B/PA350B til subwooferen.
Multikanal indgange:
"L": Venstre kanal "R": Højre kanal
"SL": Surround venstre "SR": Surround højre
"C": Center
"S1": Optional surround 1 "S2": Optional surround 2
To-kanal indgange:

Rengøring
Afbryd apparatet på netafbryderen før rengøring. Brug aldrig
rengøringsmidler, der indeholder opløsningsmidler.
