Chapter I
Introduction
The Orion 900A is a battery operated printer designed for field or laboratory use with Orion 115, 125, 145, 150, 250A, 290A, 420A, 520A, 620, 720A, 810, 850, 920A. The Printer plugs directly into the meter making a compact design, which is easy to carry in the field and reduces the cables and bench space required in the lab.
Note: Use the Orion 900A printer with Orion meters only.

See Figure 3.
1. Flip open the top portion of the front printer case.
2. Tear off approximately the first 8 inches of printer paper from the roll.
3. Hold the roll in one hand with the paper coming off the bottom of the roll. Insert the end of the paper into the print mechanism. Insert under the plastic section and above the lower metal piece.
4. Turn the printer on by sliding the switch to the right, then press line feed button. The paper should move through the print mechanism and out of the top. If not, check to make sure the paper is inserted properly.

The Battery
RECHARGING THE BATTERY
The Orion 900A contains a rechargeable battery. The printer can operate while plugged into line power and recharging. Recharge the battery overnight so it is ready for use the next day as follows:
1. Plug the line converter into the jack on the right side of the printer. For printers used with bench top meters turn meter over and plug into jack from below. You may leave the printer plugged into line power indefinitely.
2. Plug the line converter into an appropriate wall outlet and turn the printer off. Leave in this state for 12 hours to fully recharge the battery.
Note: Plugging in the meter will not recharge the printer battery. The printer must be plugged into line power directly.

1. Remove battery cover on rear panel by sliding cover down.
2. Remove battery pack by pulling gently. Disconnect the wire leads by pulling straight out from the internal connection.
3. Insert connector on new battery pack into the internal portion of the printer until it is secure. This is a polarized connector and can only be inserted one way. Position the battery pack into compartment and replace cover.
4. Plug in the printer and charge the battery for twelve hours.
Note: Battery must be disposed or recycled properly.
