Link aggregation is a method used to bond multiple links between your NAS and your switch to optimize your connection, increasing your network’s capacity while maintaining a stable transmission speed. Employing link aggregation will optimize resource utilization, maximize throughput, minimize response time, and help in avoiding overload. Thecus NAS support 7 ‘avors’ of link aggregation: Load Balance, Failover, 802.3ad, Balance-XOR, Balance-TLB, Balance-ALB, and Broadcast.

Thecus System Failover
The Thecus System Failover feature is a fault tolerance process that creates mirrored data volumes. With at least
two Thecus NAS available, data is copied by scheduled backups and all changes are mirrored between the two NAS. In the event of a power or network failure, a scheduled maintenance, or other unforeseen circumstances, System Failover automatically redirects operations to the secondary Thecus NAS, which then acts as the primary NAS.

With a VMware® Ready certied Thecus NAS, business users can utilize their NAS together with VMware® servers to build virtual infrastructure and create virtual machines (VMs). On virtual machines, dierent operating systems can be set up and numerous applications can be installed on each OS so as to carry out various tasks. A Thecus NAS with a VMware® server will form a unied pool of resources that can be used by VMs to run applications. Compared with traditional single servers with single sets of applications models, virtual infrastructures signicantly reduce operating costs, lower electricity consumption, and increase overall hardware resource utilization. With daisy chaining, users now have the ability to cost
eectively increase their storage volume while maintaining fast transfers. To set up a daisy chain, one
master NAS unit is installed as a controller with up to four DAS linked as slaves. SAS cables are then used to link the units together in order to ensure rapid speeds. The ability to reach tremendous capacities while saving nearly 30% on hardware costs (versus traditional storage architecture) is something truly groundbreaking in the industry.
