splatter and metal burrs shall be removed to insure unobstructed operation.
Swing Arm: Shall be a weldment consisting of the following components: (1) welded steel cylinder tube,
internally reamed to accept a tapered cylinder, (1) 1035 steel .75” diameter axle, and (1) tube arm of the
specified length cut from 14 gauge x 1” x 3” welded steel tubing. The cylinder tube shall be welded closed
at the bottom end with a steel plate containing a threaded hole to receive an adjustment bolt that will
provide ease of removal and adjustment of the chair cylinder.
Seat/Table Support Assembly: Shall be a mechanical assembly consisting of (1) table stanchion, (1)
adjustable top mounting plate, (1) arm return mechanism, (1 or 2) swing arms, (1) 1/2” thick steel top
retaining plate, (1 or 2) 17-7 stainless steel torsion springs, and (1) cast aluminum protective cover. All
parts shall be assembled to careful tolerances with Grade 5 machine screws and lock washers. Spring
tension is to be calibrated to insure consistent silent return of the swing arms to the closed position without
the need of excessive force which may cause leg fatigue in the seated occupant. Open and closed stop
positions shall be cushioned with urethane rubber to insure silent operation. Single chair assemblies are to
include fitted blank cover in the place of the second swing arm location.

The inner shell shall be an electronically glued plywo od construction of varying thicknesses. The minimum
thickness shall be ½” - 7plys with a maximum thickness of 11/16” - 11 plys. The shell shall be conto ure d to
an ergonomically correct configuration.

Bureau of Home Furnishings Bulletin 117-75. Foam padding shall not be less than 2” thick at any location
on the seat surfaces and shall not be less than 1-1/2” on any location on the back surface. Foam shall be
2.5 lb. density and 45 lb. IFD rating.
By offering a quote for this project, the bidder assumes full responsibility for complying with the
specifications for this project and shall be totally responsible for any expenses incurred if the
product quoted does not comply with the specifications.

PART 4 – WARRANTY
4.1 The lecture seating manufacturer must provide a Warranty to the original purchaser of the seating as follows:

The electrical system shall provide for a minimum of two separate circuits in each row and shall be
configured with two hot wires, a shared neutral and a shared ground.
Each row is to be powered at a single power entry point at the end of the row. The power feed shall be
manufactured from liquid-tight BX cable with a molded end connector at one end for connection into the
electrical system and a 6” pigtail at the other end for connection into the building’s electrical sup ply. Wiring
the power feed into the building’s electrical supply and the parts necessary to do so shall be done/supplied
by others and is not the responsibility of the manufacturer or its’ installers.
Provide manufacturers standard power/data module consisting of two electrical outl ets an d two Category 6
RJ-45 data jacks. Electrical and data jacks are to be black in color. The module shall be mounted in the
worksurface centered and shared between two seated occupants.
Provide necessary quantities of manufacturers standard wire management raceways for the concealment
and routing of data wiring. Data wiring is to be provided and installed by others and is not the responsibility
of the manufacturer or its’ installers.
Seat/Table Supports, Worksurfaces, and Modesty Panels – The manufacturer shall warrant it’s products
against failures and manufacturing defects for the life of the product. This warranty applies to the original
purchaser and is non-transferable. The manufacturer will provide parts and labor to repl ace defective parts
for the first two years after the installation. Thereafter, the manufacturer will provide replacement parts for
the life of the product.
Chair Uppers – The manufacturer shall warrant the product for five (5) years from the date of shipment.
This warranty applies to the original purchaser and is non-transferable. The manufacturer will provide parts
and labor to replace defective parts for the first two years after installation. Thereafter, TSI will provide
replacement parts for the remaining 3 years.
This warranty shall not cover damage from abuse, misuse, neglect, or act of God. Damage caused by
modifications to the product by anyone other than an authorized seating manufacturer technici an will void
this warranty. This warranty does not apply to fabrics or products not installed by authorized seating
manufacturer technicians.
Examine site conditions, with installer present, for compliance with requirements for construction tolerances

Install standards in locations conforming to seating layout, with each standard attached to substrate by no

Install chairs using manufacturer’s recommended hardware and fasteners. Insure that chairs in curved
rows are installed on proper radius and are oriented toward the center point of the radius. Verify that
moving components operate smoothly and quietly.

Touch-up minor abrasions and imperfections in painted finishes with coating that matches factory-applied
