LOCATION
Place the unit on dr y stable surfa ce away from
heat and damp and whe re it is unlikely to fall o r
be knocked over.

Un clip the batter y cover in the direc tion indicate d.
Lay the ribbon over th e battery com partment.
Batteries are to be place d on top of the ribbon.
Fit 6 x AA batteries in the seque nce shown,
observing polarity.
Ret the battery cover.
Switching on your ra dio for the rst time
1 Mains Adaptor (s upplied wit h the package)
Connect the main s adaptor to the DC powe r
socket on the rear of th e radio ( if not using
batteries ).
2 Extend the pig tai l aerial as far as it ca n go.
3 Slide the Power ON/OFF switch to ON to turn
on the radio.
The radio will auto matically tune an d operate the
quick scan.
During scan mod e, the LCD will display a s lide
bar that indicates t he progress of th e scan, and
the amount of radio st ations that have be en
found so far.
Once the scan has nishe d, the radio will select
the rst alphanumer ic station.
NOTE: The station nam e will be shown on the
top of the display. Informati on about the DAB
radio station wil l be displayed on the b ottom of
the display
Preset Memory
When you power up the r adio again, the radi o
plays in the same mode ( DAB or FM) as last
chosen.
If you hear no sound, then press the “VOL +”
control until you reach a desir ed level.
If the volume is too hig h, then press the “ VOL -
control to decre ase the volume level.
To listen to your desired st ations press eit her
the
/ buttons to cycle th rough the stored
stations. When yo u reach your desire d station
stop pressing the
/ buttons and the rad io will
automatically t une to that station . The display will
now change to show th e station name on th e top
of the screen and inf ormation about t he station on
the bottom of the sc reen.
Press the (standby) but ton to turn off the r adio.
To turn the radio on press t he
(standby) button.
1. To set manually, press and hold the
INFO/MENU button for 3 seconds.
2. When the <Scan Setti ng> option appears pres s
either
or and nd <System>.
3. Press the ENTER butto n, use the / buttons
to nd <Time> and press ENTER.
Inside the <Time> menu there are several
options. <Set 12/24 Hour>, <Set Time /Date>,
<Auto Update> & <Set Date Format>.
<Set 12/24 Hour > Use the / buttons t o select
12 or 24 hour and then press the ENTER button
to activate.
<Set Time/Date> When activated the hour digit
ashes, use the / button s to set the digit to
the correct hou r then press ENTER, rep eat for the
minutes again pressing ENTER when set.
The process for s etting the date is exa ctly the
same as the above. Pres s ENTER to nalise the
setting once co mplete.
<Auto Update> Use the / buttons to cycle
through the vario us options for auto s etting the
time & date. These range from. <U pdate from
any>, < Update from DAB>, < Update from FM>
and <No Update>.
NOTE: When the power is switched OFF ( not
standby ) the setti ngs will be lost.
<Set Date Format> Use the / buttons to
set DD-MM-YYYY or MM-DD-YYYY. Press the
ENTER button to store.
To nalise selections do not tou ch any buttons
for ten seconds. T he unit will exit to the s tation
selection screen.
Alarm Setting
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3
seconds.
2. When the <Scan Setti ng> option appears pres s
either or and nd <System>.
3. Press the ENTER butto n, use the / buttons
to nd <Alarm> and press ENTER.
Alarm Setup
Press ENTER to initiate the s etup process.
1. Use the / buttons to select Alar m 1 or
Alarm 2 then press ENTER to activate.
2. Use the / buttons to select Ala rm ON or
OFF then press ENTER to set.
3. Use the / buttons to set the Al arm ON hour
digits. Press ENTER to set .
4. Set the Minute digits the same way and pr ess
ENTER once set.
5. Choose the sour ce of the alarm bet ween
BUZZER, DAB & FM using the /
buttons.
If you choose DAB or FM t he next step is to
choose the statio n you want to play.

6. There is the opti on to only have the alar m
activate on WEEKDAYS, DAILY and
WEEKENDS. Choose which you re quire using
the / buttons.
The ENTER button stores t he setting.
7. The next step is to set the volu me level you
require. use the / but tons to set
and press ENTER to activat e the alarm.
8. To disable the alarm return to the <Al arm>
screen and use the / but tons to
choose OFF and press E NTER to save.
9. To silence the alarm wh en sounding pres s the
ENTER button.
10. Repeat the procedure 1- 9 to set Alarm 2.
NOTE: In standby the alar m icon will display
when activated.
Snooze Mode
When the alarm sou nds you can press th e
SNOOZE/SLEEP / butt on to activate the
SNOOZE mode and delay the ala rm for 5
minutes.

Display modes
Press the INFO/MENU button, an d the bottom
section of the dis play will show a sub text m enu
with various information about the current station.
Every press of the INFO/MENU button changes
the information displayed.
This can be better ex plained in a diagr am showing
the order of sequen ce. NOTE: once you rea ch the
last info setting t he next press will r eturn you to
the rst setting.
Program type
This describes t he “Style” or “genre” of music th at
is being broadca st e.g. “Rock “or “Classical”.
Programme Name
Station name ( if br oadcast ). Frequenc y of the
station if no name is b roadcast.
Audio Mode (Stereo/Mono)
Denotes if the broadca st is in Stereo or Mono.
To specify that a stati on can be only played i n
mono or that stereo is allowed.
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3
seconds.
2. When the <Scan Setti ng> option appears pres s
either or and nd <Audio
Setting>, press the ENTER button.
3. Use the or buttons to cyc le through the 2
options <Forced Mono> or <Ster eo
Allowed>. Press ENTER to select.
Stereo allowed: Means any station broadcast in
stereo with a stron g enough signal wi ll be played
in stereo.
Mono only: Plays ALL stations in mono
regardless of the a vailability of a ste reo signal.
Time
Displays the curr ent time.
Date
Displays the curr ent date.
Radio Text
Displays scrolli ng text broadcas t by the station
( only if broadcast ) .
Scan Modes
Auto Scan
The Auto scan setting wil l scan up or down
depending on where the starting frequency is.
Once it nds a station it will sto p.
Ensure you are in the FM m ode before follo wing
the next steps.
DRC ( Dynamic Ra nge Control )
This causes the ra dio to reduce the dy namic
range of the audio si gnal. The purpos e of this is
to adapt the dynamic r ange of the audio si gnal to
listening in a noisy environment.
NOTE: this is not available on many DAB st ations.
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3
seconds.
2. When the <Auto Scan> opti on appears press
either
or and nd <DRC>, press
the ENTER button.
3. Choose betwee n DRC off, DRC Low and
DRC High.
4. Press ENTER to save the set ting.
Switching f rom DAB to FM
Press the DAB/FM but ton once to switc h. The
display will show FM M ode.
Storing preset stations
it is possible to store up to 10 of your favourit e
stations to the pre set keys. This will ena ble you to
access your favourit e stations quickly & easil y.
To store a preset, you must rst be listenin g to the
station that you would like to save, pre ss & hold
the PRESET button for 2 second s. The LCD will
then show the follo wing.
Use the / buttons to c hoose the preset
number from 1-10 you wish to use. Then press th e
ENTER button to store.
Recalling a stored preset station
Once you have saved a station to one of the
preset buttons, yo u can recall by pre ssing the
PRESET button. Then use the
/ buttons to
select the desired pre set station. Once sele cted
press the ENTER button t o activate.
If you choose a pres et that hasn’t been all ocated a
station, then “Preset Empty” will be displayed.
Alternatively you c an use the preset buttons.
Press one of the pres et buttons to acc ess presets
1-6, for 7-10 you will need to press and hold the
button.
Time & Date
The time & date is set automatica lly from the DAB
broadcast or set manually.
Program type
This describes t he “Style” or “genre” of music th at
is being broadca st e.g. “Rock “or “Classical”.
Ensemble/Multiplex (Group name)
A multiplex/ensem ble is a collection of radio
stations that are bundled and transmitted on
INFO/MENU button for 3 seconds.
3. When the <Auto Scan> opti on appears press
the ENTER button.
Manual Tuning
As well as an auto tune functi on, you can manually
tune the receiver. This can help you when aligning
your aerial or when a dding stations t hat were
missed while auto t uning.
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3
seconds.
2. When the <Auto Scan> opti on appears press
either or & nd <Manual Tune>.
3. Use the
/ buttons to cycle through th e DAB
channels, which are numbered
from 5A to 13F.
4. Now press the ENTER but ton to enter the
current ensemble/multiplex, the top line
will now display the rst station in the ens emble/
multiplex.
5. To see what stations are p resent in the foun d
ensemble/multiplex, just press either
/ buttons. When you ’ve located a stati on
that you would like to lis ten to, just
press the ENTER button
6. Once you have reached the last st ation in the
found ensemble, it will revert back
to the rst station again. If you wish to exit the
manual tuning mode, just press the
ENTER button.
Pruning
When the radio has pe rformed a Sc an in several
locations you may nd ther e are stored stations
that you can no longe r receive. This fu nction
automatically removes them from the stored
station list.
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3
seconds.
2. When the <Auto Scan> opti on appears press
either
or and nd <Prune>, press
the ENTER button.
3. Use the
or buttons to selec t YES or NO
and press ENTER to select.

NOTE: There are 2 options to note whe n using
this function.
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3
seconds.
2. When <Scan Settin g> appears press the
ENTER button.
3. You will have the choice o f either <Strong
Stations Only> or <All Stations>
using the or buttons.
Strong stations only, will only stop at stations
with a strong sign al.
All stations will s top at any station fou nd with a
strong or weak sign al.
4. Make your choice by pressin g the ENTER
button to activate t he setting.
5. Now press and hol d the BACK/SCAN button,
the auto scan searc hes for available st ations
based on the settings chosen above.
When a station is found the sca n will stop, to nd
another station s imply press and ho ld the BACK/
SCAN button again.

• Switch the unit off at the mains and un plug it if
you are leaving it unat tended for a long p eriod
(holidays etc).
CARE AND CLEANING
All care and cleaning op erations should be car ried
out with the unit unp lugged from the ma ins
power.
Occasionally wi pe the cabinet with a lint free
duster. Never clean the u nit with liquids or
solvents.

DLS (Dynamic Label Segment)
Dynamic label segment is a scrolling message
that the broadcaster may include with their
transmissions. This message usually includes
information, su ch as program deta il etc.
Scan Modes
There are two typ es of scan, one is Quick scan
and the other is Auto scan.
Quick scan: sear ches the UK DAB band III
Auto scan: searches all DAB cha nnels.
1. To activate the QUICK SCAN press and hol d
the BACK/SCAN button.
2. To perform a AUTO SCAN, press and hol d the

DAB OPERATION FM OPERATION
SLEEP TIMER
To enable the sleep time r function, the ra dio must
be playing ( not in stan dby mode ).
1. To activate the timer press the SNOOZE/
SLEEP button once to open th e option screen.
2. In order to set the timer duratio n you will need
to press the SNOOZE/SLEEP button
repeatedly until you reach the period you
require.
NOTE: The timer increases in in crements of 15
minutes, 30minute s, 45minutes, 60mi nutes then
jumps to 90 minutes.
Factory Reset
To reset the radio to the fac tory setting s follow
the next steps.
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3S .
2. When the <Scan Setti ng> option appears pres s
either or and nd <System>, press the
ENTER button.
3. Use the or buttons to nd th e <Factory
Reset> option and press ENTER.
4. Choose <Yes> and press the ENTER button.

To set the backlight
1. Press and hold the INFO/MENU button for 3
seconds.
2. When the <Scan Setti ng> option appears pres s
either or button and nd <System>, pres s
the ENTER button.
3. Use the or buttons n d the <backlight>
option, press the E NTER button to nd <Time
Out>.
4. Press the ENTER button to ente r <time out>
and choose the avail able duration:
<OFF>, <10 sec>, <20 sec>, <30 sec>,
<45 sec>, <60 sec > , <90 sec>, <120 sec>
and <180 sec>.
