1 223 Series Adaptor panels to Motorola MCS Mobile
1 General
This application note is intended to show how to assemble a cable and setup the hardware of different 223 series adaptor panels (TRA223, DSP223 and IP223) to a Motorola MCS20000 series mobile radio.
2 Interconnect Cable assembly
A cable assembly will be required to connect to the 26-pin accessory connector of the XTL to the various 223 Series adaptor panels. Please use the following chart to manufacture this cable assy.

3 223 Series panels:
3.1 TRA223 Setup:
3.1.1 TRA223 Dip-Switch settings:
Set the front panel dip-switch for the following settings: Positions 4, 6 and 7 “ON”, Positions 1, 2 and 3 are for selecting 2/4-Wire operation; please see Section 2.2 of the TRA223 manual for proper configuration.
3.2 DSP223 Setup:
No software programming is required.
3.2.1 DSP223 Jumper settings:
Set the following jumpers to the “A” position: J14, J15, J22, J23, J24, J25, J27 Set the following jumpers to the “B” position: J12 and J13 Solder close JP2
J19, J20 and J21 are for selecting 2/4-Wire operation; please see Section 2.2 of the DSP223 manual for proper configuration.
3.3 IP223 Setup:
Setup the desired IP223 lines jumpers for Local radio control.
3.3.1 IP223 Jumper settings:

“B”=4-wire “A”=Single Ended “Hanging on center pin”= 10K Ohm “A”=Single Ended “B” High “B”= 600 ohms Solder bridge the pads together
