The Scout application that you install on your device req uires a means of accessing the publ ic Internet, which is ty pically
provided by your carrier’s data network.
The Scout application communicates with the Scout serve rs to get routing, map s, and points of int erest via your carrier’ s
data network. You do not need to purchase additional da ta services if you alrea dy have a data or email services plan for
your device. However, if you do not already have a data o r email services plan, yo u must order one f rom your wireless

page 127
The iPhone and iPad devices feature touch-screen capability. The Scout application can be viewed in either Port rait or
Landscape modes. For the purpose of thi s User’s Guide, mo st screenshots are shown from the iPhone.
The iPhone and iPad feature an on-screen keyboa rd. Within the Scout applicatio n, the keyboard displ ays whenever you
choose a field that requires text entry.
Scout can be downloaded from the App Store directly from you r iPhone. Go to the App Store a nd download the “Sco ut

After the download, the Scout logo is available for selection on the Main
Menu.
5.1 Sign-On Process
There is no limit of how many of your devices on whi ch you can install Sco ut. To access Scout on different devi ces,
simply install the app and then log in with your scout.me User Name and Password that you are a sked to create the first
time you launch Scout. However, you can only use Scout’s p remium features (voi ce-guided, turn-by-tu rn navigation,
automatic reroute when a turn is missed, etc.) on one dev ice at a time.
1. The first time you launch Scout, you will see the Welcome screen. Here,
you will be asked for your email address and to agree to the Terms of
Service.
2. If you do not have a scout.me account, you will be asked to create one
here. The scout.me website allows you to access web features and sync
certain features to your device, such as your Favorite s.
NOTE: Your password must be 4 or more chara cters. If you choose t o skip the
account creation process here, you can always create a scout.me account
through Extras >> Account >>My Account.
3. The next screen will ask you to select an account type. Depending on

account to sign in. The Free version of Scout does not off er all the features that

for a matrix
explaining the subscription features. This User’ s Guide explains all th e features
available in a Premium account.
During your first use of Scout, the phone will downloa d graphical co ntent

depends on wireless data conne ction.
When Scout is using data service to contac t the Scout servers, it will present
a message such as: a) Reading GPS, b) Waiting, c) Sending,
d) Receiving, e) Logging in, f) Personalizing, g) Downlo ading, and h) Stori ng.
Scout may ask if your current location can be used fo r map and naviga tion

The lead times for the audible guidance are increa sed proportionally to your driving speed. This allows more time for
