Teledyne PCI Express Quick Start

1
Introduction
Use this document for quick installation and setup.
If you experience problems or need more information, see the Summit Z3-16 User Manual at the Teledyne LeCroy web site.
Teledyne LeCroy's PCI Express Test Platform 16x2.5GT/s / 16x5.0GT/s / 16x8.0GT/s for the Summit Z3-16 Protocol Exerciser provides a convenient, powerful and flexible test platform for PCI Express devices at data rates up to 8 GT/s and lane widths up to x16.
The Test Platform allows the Summit Z3-16 Exerciser to act as a host system, enabling extensive protocol-level testing of PCIe® devices. In addition, there is a complete Gen3 protocol analyzer interposer built into the platform complete with iPass connectors for up to x16 lane support.
PCI Express Test Platform 16x2.5GT/s / 16x5.0GT/s / 16x8.0GT/s
Quick Start
Switches on the platform allow the user to select an internal or external reference clock, SSC on or off, and power ON/OFF for the DUT. Connectors on the platform include two PCIe x16 slots, Reference Clock IN and OUT, dual iPass connectors for connection to a Teledyne LeCroy protocol analyzer such as the Summit T3-16, DC power connectors (2-pin for the Summit Z3-16, and the choice of 6-pin or 8-pin for the DUT), and AC power.
For use as a host emulator, the Summit Z3-16 Exerciser is plugged into the lower PCIe x16 slot and connected to the power source provided by the Test Platform. The DUT is plugged into the upper PCIe x16 slot, and connected to the power source provided by the Test Platform.
In addition to using the Test Platform with the Teledyne LeCroy Summit Z3-16, the user can connect two of their own devices and use the Test Platform as a PCIe backplane and as an interposer to capture protocol traffic between the systems.
