Foreword

This instruction manual is designed to help you gain a thorough understanding of the
operation of the equipment. Teledyne Isco recommends that you read this manual
completely before placing the equipment in service.

Although Teledyne Isco designs reliability into all equipment, there is always the possi­bility of a malfunction. This manual may help in diagnosing and repairing the malfunc­tion.

If the problem persists, call or e-mail the Teledyne Isco Technical Service Department
for assistance. Simple difficulties can often be diagnosed over the phone.

If it is necessary to return the equipment to the factory for service, please follow the
shipping instructions provided by the Customer Service Department, including the
use of the Return Authorization Number specified. Be sure to include a note
describing the malfunction. This will aid in the prompt repair and return of the
equipment.

Teledyne Isco welcomes suggestions that would improve the information presented in
this manual or enhance the operation of the equipment itself.

Model 913 High Capacity Power Supply

IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS

1. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS – This manual contains

important safety and operating instructions for Model 913 High CapacityPower
Supply.

2. Before using the battery charger feature of the Power Supply, read all instruc­tions and cautionary markings on the Power Supply.

3. CAUTION- To reduce risk of injury, charge only Isco type rechargeable

batteries. Other types of batteries may burst causing perosnal injury and dam­age.

4. The Model 913 is for INDOOR/OUTDOOR use but not for Hazardous Loca­tions. Do not place in a location where flammable gasses can accumulate.

5. Use of attachments or appliances with this unit that are not sold or recom­mended by Isco may result in the risk of fire, electric shock, or personal injury.

6. To reduce the risk of damage to the Model 913 cord and plug, always grasp the
plug when disconnecting the unit, rather than pulling on the cord.

7. When the Model 913 is in use, make sure the cord is located so it will not be
crushed, stepped on, tripped over, or otherwise subjected to damage or stress.

8. Do not use an extension cord with the Model 913 unless it is absolutely neces­sary. Use of an improper extension cord could result in the risk of fire or electric
shock. If you must use an extension cord, please make sure of the following:

a. The pins on the extension cord plugs are the same size, number, and shape

as those of the plug on the charger.

b. The extension cord is properly wired and is in good mechanical and electri-

cal condition (no frayed wires or exposed connections, and firm retention of
the plug when inserted).

c. The wire size of the extension cord is adequate for the AC ampere rating of

the charger as specified below:

9. Do not operate the Model 913 with a damaged cord or plug. Replace the power
supply immediately.

10. Other important safety instructions are scattered within the following Opera­tional sections of this manual. Please be cognizant of all cautions and warnings
stated.

General Warnings Before installing, operating, or maintaining this equipment, it is

imperative that all hazards and preventive measures are fully
understood. While specific hazards may vary according to
location and application, take heed of the following general
warnings:

WARNING

Liquids associated with this instrument may be classified
as carcinogenic, biohazard, flammable, or radioactive.
Should these liquids be used, it is highly recommended that
this application be accomplished in an isolated
environment designed for these types of materials in
accordance with federal, state, and local regulatory laws,
and in compliance with your company’s chemical/hygiene
plan in the event of a spill.

concerning chemical and hygiene mishaps. In all cases use
good laboratory practices and standard safety procedures.
