RSA6100B Series Operating System Restore
These instructions explain how to restore the Microsoft Windows 7 operating
system and drivers in RSA6100B Series instruments. There are two versions
of the operating system restore media. One version is optimized for Option 56
(removable solid-state drive) and the other version is optimized for Option 57
(DVD drive and internal hard drive) and Option 59 (internal hard drive only).
These instructions apply to both versions of the recovery media.
Prerequisites
If your instrument has Option 56 (solid-state drive) or Option 59 (internal
hard drive only) installed, you need an external USB DVD drive to restore the
operating system.
Restore the Operating System
The procedure to restore the instrument operating system software requires that
a keyboard be attached to the instrument. You can use either a PS-2 or a USB
keyboard.

To avoid instrument malfunction, do not install any version of Windows that is
not specifically provided by Tektronix for use with your instrument. The version
of Windows on the recovery media is specially configured for the drive option
installed on your instrument. Other available versions of Windows will not operate
properly on the instrument. Do not modify hardware device drivers, apply patches to
operating system components, or modify the system BIOS.
To avoid data loss, back up any important user files stored on the hard

To restore the instrument operating system, perform the following steps:
1.
If a keyboard is not installed, connect one to the instrument (the supplied
accessory keyboard plugs into the USB connector).

Power on the instrument.
3.
Option 56 and Option 59: Connect the USB DVD drive to a USB port on
the instrument.

Once the restore process is complete, Acronis will ask you whether you want
to Shutdown or Reboot the instrument. Click the option to
remove the restore media from the DVD drive.
