SansAmp XDI bridges the gap from guitar to mixer/computer. Its unique design features advanced, low noise F.E.T. technology to provide a natural, transparent guitar signal. Not just an interface for SansAmp direct recording software (SansAmp PSA-1 Plug-In* for Pro Tools®), it can also be used with any computer sound card, as well as with any mixing console as a standard transparent active direct box to preserve signal integrity, particularly over long cable lengths.
SansAmp XDI is housed in a compact, sturdy, cast aluminum box. It features two inputs and two outputs. It is phantom power operable, or can utilize an optional 9V DC power supply (Tech 21 Model #DC2), or 9V battery (not included) which will provide approximately 500 hours of use.
At Tech 21, it is our goal to offer useful, versatile, cost-effective products. It is our hope you find SansAmp XDI a welcome addition to your set-up.
*SansAmp PSA-1 Plug-In for Pro Tools: co-developed by Tech 21, Inc., and California-based software company, Bomb Factory Digital, Inc. It captures every sonic subtlety of its original namesake to provide you with a warehouse of the most desirable tube amp rigs and the flexibility to customize your own --all at the click of a mouse. Just like its real world equivalent, you can see --and turn-- each knob to obtain “virtually” any professionally miked tube amp/speaker cabinet system sound.

THE INS:
Faithful to the original design of traditional tube amplifiers, these unbalanced 1/4” inputs are high impedance 1M Ohm.The Bright Input simulates the EQ curve found in tube amps with (you guessed it) bright inputs.
THE OUTS:
LO Z 1/4” OUTPUT eliminates the need for an XLR converter for
sound cards that accept an unbalanced input.
XLR OUTPUT Balanced low Z output sends signal to mixing console. Accepts phantom power if your mixer is accordingly equipped.
NOTEWORTHY Q&A
1: Can both inputs be used at the same time? No. One overrides the other.
2. Can both outputs be used at the same time? Yes, but we don’t recommend it. If the low impedance XLR Output is loaded down by the mixer, it could alter the sound quality of the 1/4” Output.
3. Does the phantom power override an installed battery?
Yes. However, we recommend removing the battery if you do not have frequent occasion to use it. If the battery isn’t utilized for a long period it could leak, causing damage to the unit which would not be covered by the warranty.
