Thank you for purchasing the Tatung Electric Rice Cooker. Please read the user Manual carefully before using and keep it for future reference. Diagram images are for reference only, and may not be your exact model.
IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS
Basic safety precautions should always be followed when using electrical appliances, including the following:
1. Important: Read all instructions carefully before first use.
3. Use only on a level, dry and heat-resistant surface.
4. To protect against fire, electric shock and injury to persons, do not immerse cord, plug or the appliance in water or any other liquid. See instructions for cleaning.
5. Close supervision is necessary when the appliance is used by or near children.
6. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow unit to cool before putting on or taking off parts and before cleaning the appliance.
7. Do not operate any appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been damaged in any manner. Contact Tatung customer service for examination, repair or adjustment.
8. The use of accessory attachments not recommended by Tatung may result in fire, electrical shock or injury.

17. The rice cooker should be operated on a separate electrical circuit from other operating appliances. If the electrical circuit is overloaded with other appliances, the appliance may not operate properly.
18. Always make sure the outside of the inner cooking pot is dry prior to use. If the inner pot is returned to the cooker when wet, it may damage or cause the product to malfunction.

19. Use extreme caution when opening the lid during or after cooking. Hot steam will escape and may cause scalding.
20. Rice should not be left in the inner cooking pot with the Keep-Warm function on for more than 12 hours.
21. To prevent damage or deformation, do not use the inner cooking pot on a stovetop or burner.
22. To disconnect, turn any control to OFF, then remove the plug from the wall outlet.
23. CAUTION: To reduce the risk of electrical shock, cook only in the removable inner cooking pot provided.

Short Cord Instructions
1. A short power-supply cord is provided to reduce the risks resulting from becoming entangled in or tripping over a longer cord.
2. Longer extension cords are available and may be used if care is exercised in their use.
3. If a longer extension cord is used: a.The marked electrical rating of the extension cord should be at least as great as the electrical rating of the appliance. b.The longer cord should be arranged so that it will not dangle over the counter top or tabletop where it can be pulled by children or tripped over unintentionally.

Polarized Plug
This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other); follow the instructions below:
To reduce the risk of electric shock, this plug is intended to fit into a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not attempt to modify the plug in any way.
If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, please contast us at 1-800-829-2850 ext.216.

If you want your food to stay warm (around 158-168°F) after cooking, press this button. The indicator light will be on when the warming mode is active. This button only works in Standy Mode. To cancel the keep warm function, press this button until the indicator light is off.

Cooking Modes/Menu
Your rice cooker features many cooking options. The 3 common cooking
modes are listed below. These cooking modes are prominently displayed
on your rice cooker.
1.
Congee the default cook time is 2hr. Use the Hour or Min button to
adjust the time from 1.5hr to 4hr. *Please refer to the measurement
lines in the inner pot when cooking congee.

White Rice
3. Quick Rice for White Rice Only. Cooks about 10 minutes faster
than using the White Rice Cooking Mode. Use this button for when
you're in a rush. The rice texture and taste will be different compared
to using the White Rice Button.
Press the Menu button to access (8 additional Cooking Modes)

2. Porridge *Please refer to the measurement lines in the inner pot when
cooking congee
3. Oatmeal the default cooking time is 40 mins.Use the Hour or Min button
to adjust the time from 20 mins to 2 hours
4. Soup the default cook time is 2 hr. Use the Hour or Min button to adjust
the time from 1.5 hr to 4 hr.
5. Steam the default cook time is 5 mins. Use the Hour or Min button to
adjust the time from 5 mins to 30 mins. The "Hour" button will increase
the time by 1 hours and the "Min "button will decrease the time by 1 mins.
Make sure to use the steaming tray when streaming. Always add at
least 1 to 2 measuring cups of water. Please use the measuring cup
provided.

Cooking Modes/Menu
6. Stew the default cook time is 2 hr. Use the Hour or Min button to
adjust the time from 45 min to 2 hr.
7. Slow Cook the default cook time is 2 hr.Use the Hour or Min button
to adjust the time from 2 hr to 10 hr.
8. Reheat Use this button to reheat food. The reheating temperature
starts at 120-130°F.
*Inner Pot Measurement Lines
Please follow the measurement indicated in the inner pot when adding
water. See Cooking Instructions for more details.

Initial Use
Clean Before First Time Use
1. Wash lid and accessories in warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly.
2. Remove inner pot from rice cooker and clean with warm soapy water. Rinse and dry thoroughly before returning to cooker
3. Never immerse the rice cooker base, cord or plug in water
Cooking Instructions
How To Cook White or Brown Rice
Remove the inner pot and place it on a flat level surface
1 . Using the measuring cup provided,measure the desired amount of uncooked rice
2. Pour rice into a separate container to rinse
3. Rinse rice with cold water until the entire powdery residue has been removed. The water should become relatively clear
4. Pour rinsed rice into the inner pot and add the appropriate amount of water. Use the marking on the inner pot as a guide. For example if you measured 2 cups of rice you will need to add water until the level reaches line " 2" in the inner pot.
Warning: Do not fill water over the max water level marked in the inner pot; water will overflow into the cooker and damage it.

5. Place the inner pot into the cooker
6. Close the lid on the cooker until you hear a "click" sound
7. Plug the power cord into the wall outlet. Once the power cord is
plugged in correctly the LED will display "----" and the indicator light on the Start button will flash. The flashing lights indicate that the appliance is in Stand-By Mode.
8. Select the type of rice you are cooking by using the buttons on the
control panel. Select White Rice, Quick Rice, or Brown Rice.
(To select Brown Rice simply press the "Menu" until the "Brown Rice" indicator is lit.
9. Press the Start Button. The indicator light will be on (not flashing)
when it is in cooking mode. You will also see lights following each other in the shape of a rectangle on the timer display.

Timer
Your rice cooker features a 24 hour timer. Select your cooking function then press "Timer". The default time for the Timer is 2 hours (2:00 will be displayed on the timer and it will flash). Use the Hour or Min button to adjust the time. The "Min" button will adjust in increments of 10 minutes and the "Hour" button will adjust in increments on 1 hour. Set your time then press "Start". You will see the Timer Icon illuminate.
Note: You cannot set the timer for less than 2 hours.

Your rice cooker will automatically keep food warm for you after the cooking process is complete. The "Warm" indicator light will light up to indicate that it is in "Warm" mode and the number 0 will be displayed under Hour. In "Warm" mode the display will show "0" in the first hour, and then display 1 for the 1 hour, 2 for the 2 hour and so forth until the 12

Food should never be in "Warm" mode for over 12 hours. Rice will dry out and turn yellow if you warm for too long.

If rice has been cooked and cooled already (meaning at some point you unplugged the power cord or cancelled the "Warm" function) and you want to warm your food simply press the Warm/Cancel button while the unit is in Standby-By Mode. The "Warm" indicator light will light up to indicate that it is in "Warm" mode and the number 0 will be displayed under Hour
