APPLICATIONS
Home Studios
For musicians in need of a simple, reliable cassette deck in their studio, the 102mkII is an unbeatable value. Outstanding dynamic range characteristics are the result of Dolby B and C noise reduction, as well as the HX Pro circuitry extending the high end frequency response. The 102mkII truly takes advantage of CrO2 and Metal tape formulations by changing its recording characteristics. This improves performance even further to levels unheard of from a deck at this price point.
Whether you are using the cassette deck for mixdown of your recordings, or looking for a deck to use in rehearsals for listening to tapes of song sets, the 102mkII will stand up to the regular demands of these applications.
The fact that the 102mkII can be rack mounted also lends itself to a number of portable applications at the gig like making live recordings of the band, or being used for music in between sets.
Portable PA and Installed Sound
Musicians are not the only ones who will appreciate the sound quality and durability of the 102mkII. In many mobile PA systems or budget related installed sound, the 102mkII is a far superior solution to consumer oriented cassette decks.
Most consumer decks are designed to sit in a component stereo system cabinet, and are expected to be played a couple times a month, at most. They are not built for a regular routine of jostling, pulling cables in and ripping them out, and having tapes of all types jammed in.
The 102mkII chassis is much stronger than the average deck, with integrated rack ears. This offers more than just a more refined look, it actually strengthens the case and gives a more solid feel to the controls. The connectors are reinforced for more rugged connection to the rest of the electronics. Plus, the mechanism is designed for regular use.
