SOFTWARE INSTALLATION
Now you will install the drivers to support each port on the port replicator. For the initial installation, you must complete each of the following three
steps to configure your USB Port Replicator ports and enable them for use. The configuration will occur in the following sequence: the serial (RS232)
port first, then the parallel port, followed by the PS/2 ports. If you are running Windows 98, you may need your Windows 98 CD to
complete the installation. During the installation, you may be prompted to insert the CD. If you are running Windows 2000, you will only need the included USB Port Replicator diskette.
Note: This procedure is divided into three steps and must be performed in sequence, from Step 1 through Step 3. Do not skip any steps.
Step 1. Setting Up the Serial Port
When first connected, the New Hardware Detected dialog box will appear, indicating that the Targus Serial Interface Controller is found. The Add New Hardware Wizard window will then appear. Click Next to continue.
When prompted by the next screen, What would you like Windows to do?, select Search for the best driver for your device, and click Next.
When prompted to initiate a search for the best driver for your serial device, insert the Targus USB Mobile Port Replicator disk. Then select Floppy disk drives, and click Next to initiate the search.
When the software driver is located, and Windows is ready to install it, click Next to continue with the installation.
When you see a message that Windows has finished installing the software driver for the serial port, click Finish.
