SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 provides you with capabilities to translate Web content
through a plugin for Microsoft Internet Explorer™. SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0
translates Web pages on-the-fly, without having to leave Internet Explorer. You can
translate in real -time while online or you can translate saved Web pages while offline.
All page formatting is preserved.
With SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0, you can browse Web pages in your native
language and translate them in real time. Once a page has been translated, the
plugin’s Fluid Navigation feature automatically translates all pages linked to the
translated page.

System Requirements
Users of SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 must be working on client computers with the
following specifications in order to install and run this product:
• PC with Pentium III (500 MHz or higher) processor
• Microsoft Windows® 98SE / ME / NT4 with SP6 / 2000 / XP
• Microsoft Internet Explorer 6.0 or above
• 128 MB RAM or above recommended
• 160 MB (plus around 60 MB per language pair) available hard-disk space
• 500 MB of available disk space during the installation
Installing SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0
1. Insert the CD into your computer’s CD-ROM drive, or, if you received your
software via download, run the installation program that you downloaded.
2. When the installation popup appears, choose the language for the installation
and click OK. The Installation program will continue to load.
This may take a few minutes. Please be patient.
3. When the Welcome page appears, click Next.
4. When the License Agreement appears, read it carefully. If you agree with the
terms, click the I accept the terms of the license agreement button, and
then click Next. You must agree with the terms to proceed with the
installation.
5. In the next screen, enter your User Name and Organization information.
Select Install this application for anyone who uses this computer(all users) or Only for me and click Next.
6. In the next screen, choose the target folder for the installation. Accept the
default or use the Change button to select a different folder. Click Next.
7. In the next screen, choose Complete or Custom installation and click Next.
Most users should choose Complete.
8. In the next screen, click the Install button.
9. Installation may take a few minutes. The status bar will show installation
progress. When the installation is complete, click Finish.

Activating and Registering SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0
1. The SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 toolbar may not appear in your browser
after installation. This toolbar must be displayed in order to run a translation.
To display the toolbar, select View, Toolbars, Systran WebTranslator 5.0.
Some versions of Windows may then display a message indicating that a
script is running. You will need to authorize the script in order for the
toolbar to be installed.
If you do not see all of the Toolbar icons, or if you want to move the
Toolbar, you must first unlock the Internet Explorer toolbars. Click the
View menu, point to Toolbars, and click Lock the Toolbars to remove
the checkmark next to it.
2. When you run a translation for the first time, a Welcome screen will be
displayed. This screen will invite you to activate your product. After reading
the displayed information, click Next.
3. Select Internet for quick and easy activation, and click Next. If you do not
have an internet connection, select Phone and follow the instructions.
4. Fill out the user registration form and click Next.
5. Type in your activation code. If you purchased SYSTRAN via download, look
for five groups of six digits on the purchase record that was emailed to you
from Digital River. If you purchased the CD version, you can find the code on
the back of the Quick Start Guide. Click Next.
6. SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 is now activated. Click Finish and begin
translating!
Uninstalling SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0
To uninstall SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0, run the Uninstall option in the SYSTRAN
WebTranslator 5.0 group in your Windows Start menu.
SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 can also be removed using the Add/Remove
Programs function in the Windows Control Panel.

The SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 plugin for Microsoft Internet Explorer gives you the
power to translate Web pages on demand. It also supports fluid navigation, which
enables automatic translation of all links on a Web page once the Web page has been
translated.
When SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 translates a Web page, it stores the translated
page in a cache. This allows you to move from the translated page to any other Web
page and then return to the previously translated page using the Back button in the
browser.
SYSTRAN Toolbar
The SYSTRAN WebTranslator 5.0 Toolbar is automatically displayed when you open
Internet Explorer.
If you want to hide the Toolbar click View, point to Toolbars, and click
Systran WebTranslator 5.0. Repeat this procedure to redisplay the toolbar.

Translating a Web Page
1. Use Internet Explorer to navigate to a Web page.
2. Use the Source Language drop-down list on the toolbar to select the source
language of the content to be translated, or select Auto to have the plugin
detect the language of the Web page automatically.
3. Use the Target Language drop-down list on the toolbar to select the
language you want to translate into.
4. Click the Translate button

Improving the Translation Quality
After you translate a Web page, you can use the Translation Options to improve the
quality of the translation. You can then translate the Web page again to apply your
option selections.
Selecting Translation Options
To select translation options:
1. Click the Translations Options
button on the SYSTRAN Toolbar.
The Translation Options window lists the translation settings you can use to
modify your translations. The available options depend on the source and
target languages selected.

2. The Translation Options window lists the available options. Place your
mouse cursor over a Translation Option to see a definition of its function at
the bottom of the window. Click the
control to expand or collapse any of
the option boxes.
3. Most of the options can be changed. Click the current setting for an option.
A drop-down list will appear. Select a new setting. To close the translation
options, click the X in the top-right corner of the options window or click the
Translation Options
When you close the browser, your Translation Options settings will be saved, and

Fluid Naviga t i o n O p tions
Fluid navigation can provide automatic translation of all pages linked to the translated
page once the source page has been translated. You can define the level of fluid
navigation to be used by the plugin when translating linked pages.
1. Translate a Web page.
