backup for Synology RackStation RS18016xs+. RX1216sas seamlessly scales up the
storage capacity of Synology RS18016xs+ by adding additional 12 hard drives on-the-
y when connected directly with a mini-SAS cable. Synology RX1216sas is backed
with Synology’s 5-year limited warranty.

Storage Capacity Expansion
When storage capacity on Synology RackStation RS18016xs+ reaches its limit, Synology
Expansion Unit RX1216sas provides an easy way to immediately scale up by adding additional
12 SATA and SAS drives for exibility and balanced performance. RAID volumes on Synology
RS18016xs+ can be expanded directly without having to reformat existing drives, ensuring
that service on Synology RS18016xs+ continues during capacity expansion.
Synology RX1216sas can also be used as a dedicated local backup solution for Synology
RS18016xs+. When created as a separate volume, Synology RX1216sas provides a great backup
solution to RS18016xs+ in case of system failure.
Reliable Plug-n-Use Design
Synology RS18016xs+ securely connects to Synology RX1216sas through dual SAS cables to
ensure maximum throughput and connection redundancy. Drives in the connected Synology
RX1216sas can operate as though they were internal to Synology RS18016xs+, with no
data–retrieval lag. Redundant power supplies also ensure continual service uptime. Synology
RX1216sas is managed by Synology DiskStation Manager, with no additional software
installation required.
Green & Easy to Manage
Deep Sleep can be manually congured to take eect automatically when the system has been
inactive for a period of time. This not only saves energy but also extends the lifespan of the
hard disk. RX1216sas will also smartly power on/o with RS18016xs+, so no user intervention
is needed to keep this system running smartly and eciently.
