IMPORTANT SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS
When using electric devices, basic safety precautions must be observed. To avoid the risk of burns, electric shocks, fire, and/or personal injury, please read the instruction manual carefully before using the device, and observe all of the instructions during the operation of the device. GENERAL INFORMATION
• Electric devices are not toys! Keep children away from this device!
• Use this device for its intended purpose only.
• This device is suitable for use in private households and not for
commercial use.
• Do not leave this device unattended during use or while it is plugged in.
• Switch the device off and pull the power plug when not in use, in case
of malfunction or when cleaning.
• Do not carry this device by its power cord.
• Keep this device clean and dust-free.
• Do not operate this device outdoors.
• Check the device regularly for visible damages. Do not use the device
under any circumstances if you discover damages, if it has fallen or if it does not function properly. Do not try to repair the device yourself.
• Repairs may only be done by qualified professionals.
• The power outlet must be located near the device so that it can be
pulled out effortlessly in case of emergency.
RISKS FROM ELECTRICITY:
• The voltage of the device specified on the rating plate must match the voltage of your electricity network.
• Connect the device to an approved installed outlet. Do not use table power bars or extension cords.
• Do not operate this device with a timer or remote control.
• Never touch this device, the power cord or the power plug if your
hands are wet or if you are standing on a damp or wet floor.
• Do not pull the power cord over or through a sink.

• Do not immerse in water.
• There is a danger of electric shock from immersion in water or other
fluids!
• Keep the device, power cord and power plug away from hot surfaces, open flame, direct rays of the sun and sharp edges. Make sure that the cord does not kink during use (e.g. in doors).
• When you pull the plug, always pull by the plug and never the cord.
• If the power cord becomes damaged, it must be replaced by a
qualified professional in order to avoid hazards. The same applies for the power plug.
HAZARDS TO PERSONS:
• This appliance can be used by children aged from 8 years and above and persons with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities or lack of experience and knowledge if they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance in a safe way and understand the hazards involved. Children shall not play with the appliance.
• Cleaning and maintenance shall not be made by children.
• Keep the appliance and its cord out of reach of children less than 8
years.
• Children must be supervised in order to ensure that they do not play with this device.
• Children do not recognise the dangers which could occur in dealing with electric devices. Keep children away from this device. Be especially careful when using this device if children are in your midst!
• Keep packaging materials such as plastic bags and polystyrene parts out of reach of children. Danger of suffocation!
• Make sure when laying the power cord that it cannot be tripped over.
• Make sure that the device itself does not become a tripping hazard.

• Use this device only with the accessories included.
• Always use this device on an even, anti-slip and heat-resistant surface!
• Only put food items for toasting into the toasting slots!
• Please note that bread goods could catch fire while being heated. Do
not put this device near flammable materials such as curtains and do not toast any dried-out baked goods.
• The surface of this device becomes very hot during operation. Danger of burns!
• ATTENTION! Do not cover.
• Do not remove the bread slices while the device is in operation. Wait
until the toast slide springs back up and practice caution since the toast slices could be very hot. Danger of burns!
• Do not use the toaster near or below curtains or other combustible materials or under cupboards / shelves!

• Use this device exclusively for toasting toast bread, slices of bread and toast waffles. Do not put any oversized bread slices, bread slices with spreads, other foods, metal or plastic foils, or other objects into the toast slots.
• Empty and clean the crumb tray regularly! Bread crumbs could ignite!
• This device must never be operated without contents or without the
crumb tray.

HANDLING TOASTER
IMPORTANT NOTE:
Before operating toaster, make sure that the device, power cord and power plug are in perfect condition and that all packing materials have been removed. Also ensure that no foreign objects have reached the inside of the device!
Before first using this device, we recommend that the toaster be operated according to the following handling instructions without bread slices one time in order to heat up toaster to remove any possible existing production residues on the heating wires. A build-up of smoke or odour is possible in this case. This is not a defect and will disappear! Never toast more than 2 slices of bread (1 slice per toast slot)!
• Unwind the power cord completely from the cord holder under the base of the device and put the device on a stable, even and heat-resistant standing surface. Make sure that the device cannot slip or tip.
• Connect the power plug to the mains.
• Adjust the
browning control (4)
to the desired level (1 = lowest level / 6 =
highest level). You can read the browning level on the browning scale.
• Make sure that the
toast slide (2)
is at the top and put the bread slices in the
toast slot (1)
, so that they cannot get stuck when sliding down.
• Press the
toast slide (2)
down carefully, until it locks in and the toast cycle
begins. The indicator light beside the
stop button (5)
lights up.

• Do not touch the inside or upper part of the device during the toasting cycle. Danger of burns!
• Attention! Do not interrupt the toasting cycle by pressing the
toast slide (2)
up
manually because this could damage the mechanics.
• You can end the toasting cycle before the set browning cycle has been reached by pressing the
stop button (5)
. The browning cycle will end and the
toast
slide (2)
will spring up. The
indicator light (5)
beside the stop button will
switch off.
• Once the browning cycle has completed to the set browning level, the
toast
slide (2)
springs up and you can remove the bread. The indicator light beside
the
stop button (5)
then switches off. Caution! The bread is hot! Danger of
burns!
• If you should discover a development of smoke during operation, stop the toasting cycle immediately and remove the power plug.
• Pull the device plug from the power outlet when device is not in use.
• Pay attention to the notes in the chapter, “CLEANING AND CARE” regarding the
crumb tray (7)
.
In order to use the defrost function, proceed as described above and press the
defrost button (3)
after you have pressed the
toast slide (2)
down. The
indicator
light (3)
beside the defrost button then lights up.
HANDLING THE BUN WARMER
To warm up the buns, put the
bun warmer (6)
over the
toast slots (1)
. Make sure
that the
bun warmer (6)
sits securely on the device and does not wobble!
Put a maximum of 2 buns on the
bun warmer (6)
and press the
toast slide (2)
down
as described above. The device then switches on and the buns are warmed up.
CLEANING AND CARE
ATTENTION:
Always pull the power plug from the power outlet before cleaning and let the device cool off completely!
• The device, the power cord and the power plug must not be immersed in water for cleaning.
• Clean the device housing regularly with a dry cloth.
• In case of heavier soiling, the outside of the device can be wiped with a
dampened cloth and then carefully dried. Make sure that no moisture reaches the inside of the device in the areas of the
browning control (4)
and the
toast
slot (1)
!
• Do not use any harsh cleaning agents, steel brushes, scouring powder or other hard items for cleaning which could scratch the surfaces.

• The
crumb tray (7)
must be cleaned regularly because a collection of crumb
could catch fire. Pull the
crumb tray (7)
from the device, clean it and dry
it completely before re-inserting it. The
crumb tray (7)
must be inserted
correctly before using the toaster again.
• If the remains of the bread become clogged in the
toast slots (1)
, be careful not to damage the internal mechanism and heating wires when removing the remains. ATTENTION! Pull the power plug!
• Do not use any hard or sharp objects to clean and never put any objects into the
toast slot (1)
.
DISPOSAL
USED ELECTRIC HOUSEHOLD DEVICES
• If you do not want to use your electrical appliance any longer, return it free of charge to a recycling depot for used electric appliances.
• Used electric devices do not belong in the household garbage (see symbol).
FURTHER DISPOSAL INSTRUCTIONS
• Return the electrical appliance in such a condition that its later re-use or recycling is not adversely affected. Batteries must be removed in advance and the destruction of parts which contain fluids must be avoided.
• Electrical appliances can contain harmful substances. Improper handling or damage to the appliance can lead to health problems or water or ground contamination, when the appliance is recycled later.
SERVICE / WARRANTY
The warranty period covers 3 years and begins with the purchase date. For proof of the purchase date please retain the receipt.
The warranty covers defects and malfunctions occurring with normal use during the warranty period.
Warranty repairs are carried out free of charge.
The warranty is void in case of damages, alterations or improper use of the device, where these are not the responsibility of the warranty provider. This applies especially to the following cases:

• Interference with the device by unauthorized persons.
• Alterations on or in the device, removing or effacing the serial number, removal
or alteration of the device seal.
• Damages due to impact, dropping or external influence.
• Damages due to incorrect handling or improper use.
• Damages due to external causes, e.g. voltage overload, lightning strike.
• Commercial utilization of the device.
Your legal rights in the case of a defective device (replacement, return, reduction, compensation) are not restricted by this warranty.
Please keep the original packaging in case of a return for repair. Repaired or exchanged components are generally covered for the remaining warranty period of the device.
