USER MANUAL
®
Thank you for purchasing the Suhr Shiba Drive™ Limited Edition Pedal. Please take the time to read this manual to get
the most out of the Shiba Drive. The more you familiarize yourself with the features of this pedal, the more you will enjoy its
OVERVIEW:
Shiba Drive is a smooth sounding overdrive pedal that works excellent with
clean amps to deliver a wide range of warm bluesy rhythm tones, it can also be
used for soloing by pushing an already overdriven amp into creamy violin-like
sustain.! Shiba’s midrange character is specially voiced to help your tone cut
through the mix, while retaining your instruments natural sonic qualities.
Like all Suhr pedals, the Shiba Drive is True Bypass and can be powered from
9-18Vdc, drawing low current for extended battery life. It is protected from both
over voltage and reverse voltage.
Controls:
Shiba Drive features an easy to tweak layout which includes Drive, Level, Tone, and a Smooth switch.!!
Drive: Controls the amount of drive from the circuit. This will take you from a bluesy crunch to a sustained, compressed overdrive.
Level: Controls the output level of the pedal. Shiba provides enough level to push the front end of any tube amp into natural clipping, or adds sustain to an already overdriven amp.
Ton e:! ! Shapes the the overall tonal response of the pedal - from smooth to a more aggressive overdrive.
Smooth Switch:
This switch offers three modes which shape the high-end contour of an amp (Note: the modes have more effect at higher gain and tone settings). When using lower gain and tone settings we recommend you start in the middle position (normal mode). The positions to the left and the right alter the high end contour. Left position activates a mild high end rolloff, while Right position is a heavier high end rolloff.
OPERATION:
Install a 9V battery in the unit (see below) or plug in a suitable
9Vdc, center negative power supply. Plug your guitar into the
input jack and connect your amp to the output jack. (Note: as in
virtually all pedals, connecting a cable to the input jack will also
power up the pedal.) If using the internal battery, remember to
unplug your cable from the input jack when you are done playing
in order to insure a long battery life. Tap the footswitch to engage
the Shiba Drive. The LED will turn on.
