Michael Neumann Architecture LLC New York, NY
"To create a unified appearance, appliance detailing inspired the millwork
design: the stainless counter edge profile matches the adjacent 48" Wolf
range. Lights in the fully concealed 54" Wolf range hood were also mount-
ed in the adjoining stainless soffit for consistency of style. The Sub-Zero
601 refrigerators and freezer with bottom grilles were chosen to maintain
pulls were chosen to harmonize with the minimalist look of the Sub-Zero
and Wolf appliance handles."

2004/ 05 Second place national winner: Elaine Cecconi
Cecconi Simone Inc. Toronto, Ontario, Canada
"The island is the focal point of the kitchen and
has the Wolf dual fuel range and exhaust liner
suspended from the ceiling above. This is the
heart of the kitchen where everyone gathers.
The client loves the look of the Wolf range with
its commercial cooking aesthetic, but wanted
the other appliances to 'disappear'. The 700
Series refrigerator and freezer and wine storage
achieve this and are clad in Corian. The
microwave sits below the plasma TV and is flush
mount and frameless."

2004/ 05 Third place national winner: David Jameson
David Jameson Architect Alexandria, VA
"The concept for the house is that it is a glass
pavilion flanked on the north and south by two
stone wings. Inside the glass pavilion, a
habitable wooden object is inserted to define a
space for the kitchen. The distilled solid-quality
of the kitchen is a counterpoint to the porous
glass walls that wrap and protect it from nature.
Four 700 Series units are discreetly placed in
pragmatic areas and clad in vertical grain fir to
remain anonymous. A Wolf 36" oven, 36" gas
cooktop and microwave act as minimalist
sculpture inserted into the material fabric."

Best use of Integrated refrigeration outside the kitchen: Scott Grandis, CKD and Carmen Schultz
Bella Cucina, Inc. Sylvan Lake, MI
"One request the client had for this dining room, was that they did not
want to see any exposed appliances. They requested base refrigeration,
two warming drawers as well as a sink with a disposer. Being that con-
cealed appliances were a must, Sub-Zero was the best choice. The focal
point of the built-in cabinetry is the arched glass upper cabinets and the
Bombay base cabinet, which beautifully houses two Wolf warming drawers.
To make this section balanced, we placed a tall cabinet both to the left
and right of this unit. The left bottom cabinet houses a 700BR refrigerator,
while the cabinet to the right houses a sink behind bi-fold doors."

Best use of Wine Storage in a unique location: Michael David Bright
Bright Woodworks, Inc. St. Petersburg, FL
"The overall house design makes this room a feature because of its
inside/outside orientation. The homeowners wanted the casual look of
furniture rather than cabinets. The Sub-Zero appliances allowed for the
true integrated look. The wine storage unit was recessed into a wall with
only a 6" projection, giving a very unique look and feel. The ice maker
false front was divided into a drawer face and door to match the adjacent
cabinet faces, giving the illusion of a piece of antique furniture. Function-
ally and esthetically the space works great."

National Student Winner: Jamie Miller
Alexandria Technical College Alexandria, MN
Jamie Miller's winning kitchen design was built
and incorporated into the Sub-Zero/Wolf exhibit at
the Kitchen and Bath Industry Show in Chicago,
April 21–23, 2006.
"The island is an important part of the design because it is
where the client will entertain his guests. A pro-style range,
refrigerator drawers and storage were incorporated in the island
so the client has everything at his fingertips. There is a 48"
side-by-side refrigerator, warming drawer, microwave and double
ovens in the kitchen. Refrigerator/freezer drawers and the
dishwasher are hidden by panels of cabinetry. Everything used
in this kitchen was selected based on ease of use, as well as
aesthetics to contribute to the overall design of the kitchen."

International Winner—Middle East / Pacific Rim: Cara Marie S. Marcelo
Focus Global, Inc. Mandaluyong City, Philippines
"Sub-Zero inspired vents on the top of the window ties in perfectly with
their stainless freezer and glass door refrigerator. Having Wolf cooking
appliances for their restaurant kitchens, there was no question that the
48" Wolf professional range and the microwave and warming drawer com-
bination would be their cooking equipment of choice. By incorporating a
Sub-Zero 424 wine storage in the center island, the homeowners dream
comes full circle, as this allows them to wine and dine their guests and
encourage family interaction in a space that is perfect for their lifestyle."

"The kitchen has three different blocks which are separated by the aspect
and by materials. The first block along the wall with steel structures and a
customized white corian top includes a wine storage 424G/S and a
700BCI refrigerator/freezer. The second block is an island in the middle of
the kitchen; it is the cooking area. The third block is characterized by
three Sub-Zero and Wolf appliances: 650/S refrigerator/freezer, built-in
oven and warming drawer. The whole structure is inside a corner niche
made on measure to obtain lightness and transparency."
