In order to meet more demanding application and performance expectations, Dana is pleased to
announce a product design change in the models listed above. Dana began implementing the use of the
new design, case hardened carrier’s bearings in production axles in February 2012.
The change to new bearings will impact service kits in a variety of ways. The part number changes have
been outlined below to minimize any potential mixing of bearing parts from different suppliers.
•
Bearings are manufactured and used in sets to maximize full life of the product
• NOT using SPECIFIED bearings in Dana carriers can create potential noise issues or lead to premature
bearing failures and affect the warranty of product
• Mixing of bearing cups and cones can create potential noise issues or lead to premature bearing failures
• New and Old bearing cones and cups are manufactured by different suppliers
• Superseding OLD individual part numbers directly to the NEW individual part numbers could lead to mixing
of parts that could lead to potential failures. DO NOT MIX CONES AND CUPS MANUFACURED BY
DIFFERENT SUPPLIERS
• Spicer® service kit contents will always contain mating cones and cups

o Service kit bill of material changes will be done on a running basis.
o The bill of materials will begin changing in late May 2012.

o Individual bearings cones and cups are sold separately thru service.
o Always use and install as matched sets, as noted below.
o When stock of the individual original bearing part numbers are exhausted, the part is No Longer
Available.
o Customers to reference the content of this bulletin and the chart below to help ensure bearing
cones/cups from the same supplier are purchased and used together.

INPUT ADJUSTER & CUP ASSY:
o Kits 514356 and 514357, that contain the Input Adjuster & Cup Assy., will be superseded by new
service kit part numbers, 504066 and 504067
o The new replacement kits will now contain the new Input Adjuster & Cup Assy’s and the matching
Input Bearing Cone.

OUTPUT SIDE GEAR AND LUBE PUMP PARTS:
o 513876 Lube Pump Parts Kit contains the patented On Demand Lube Pump, the output side
gear, spring pin, and the output side gear bearing cone.
o Bearing cone 131208 and the mating cup 131209 are being discontinued and are replaced by
139975 bearing cone and matching 139976 cup.
o 513876 will be superseded by 504065 Lube Pump and O/P Side Gear kit. The new kit will not
include a “bearing cone”.
o When a replacement output shaft side gear bearing cone and its matching cup is required,
customers to purchase individually, as needed, to assure they are using matching parts.
