Component Upgrades in 23080S Single Drive Axle Models
Affected Models:
In December 1999, the models listed above were built with upgraded parts not shown in parts IPL AXIP-0031. The
change was implemented with models having serial numbers beginning with H99277xxxx. These models have several
improved components with design changes that affect replacement service parts. The product improvements detailed
below include several new high performance bearings and the use of a different but common wheel differential spider.
INNER PINION BEARING UPGRADE:
The most notable change is to the inner pinion bearing. The bearing profile has changed and therefore requires the use
of a new cage & cup assembly. The new cage & cup assy part number is 129854 (cage#129853); this also contains the
new bearing cup 129848. This cage/cup can only be used with the new inner pinion bearing 129847 because of the
bearing profile design. For serviceability reasons, a Cage & Cup Conversion Kit 510871 was released and now replaces
the old cage & cup assembly 127843. The cage/cup assembly (cage#127844) is no longer available for service.

DIFF CARRIER BEARINGS, PILOT BEARING AND DIFF SPIDER UPGRADE:
Other bearing upgrades include the 129565 Diff Bearing Cone (plain half), 129566 Diff Bearing Cup (plain half) and
129947 Pinion Pilot Bearing. To the eye these parts will be visually identical to the previous design bearing parts. These
particular bearing parts are completely interchangeable to the previous components. Use the vendor identification
number stamped into each part to identify them when replacing them in service. The wheel differential spider 108141 has
replaced the old wheel differential spider 210572. The parts are dimensionally the same but the 108141 is made of higher
strength steel.
NOTE: THE NEW BEARINGS, ALTHOUGH DIFFERENT IN PROFILE AND DURABILITY, ARE TOTALLY INTERCHANGEABLE WITH THE PAST
PRODUCTION PARTS. COMPONENT MIXING CAN BE DONE WITHOUT DETRIMENT, BUT THE LONG TERM BENEFITS FOR THE MOST
DEMANDING APPLICATIONS MAY NOT BE FULLY REALIZED IF THE UPGRADED PARTS ARE NOT USED.

chart are the vendor identification numbers located on the various parts that can be used to identify them.
