We are pleased to announce the following improvements recently implemented on several of our most popular light duty u-joint kits: part numbers 5-1310-1x, 5-1310x, 5-1330-1x, 5-1330x, 5-1350x, 5-1410x, 5-7437x, 5-7438x, 5-7439x
Seal Guard
o Redesigned and material upgraded to greatly improve the installation and long term fit on
the bearing cap assembly.
o Performance results:
Virtually eliminates the potential for cracking during installation or operation. Improved performance in extreme temperatures. Eliminates the potential for outside contaminants from reaching the bearings.
Trunion Seal on pre lube U-Joints
o The design of triple lip seal has been changed. o Performance results:
Instances of loss of small amounts of
grease has been reduced by >50%.
Thrust Washer design changes
o The thrust washer is now a 2-piece assembly (a
thrust washer and a spacer). The spacer is machined with 3 grooves per side.
o Performance results:
The addition of a spacer allows for improved rotation of the journal cross and the
needle bearings.
Improved distribution of grease. Reduced potential for misaligned needle bearings.
Journal Cross Design changes
o The chamfer at the end of the trunion has been increased and seal guard retention ridge
has been redesigned.
o Performance results:
Reduced stresses on the seal guard. Reduced journal cross stress levels. Improved needle bearing retention.
