Getting started Imaging
Press the navigation key to the right.
Your phone has a digital 1,3 megapixel Motion Eye™ camera which also
works as a video recorder. The camera lens can be rotated to point
inwards towards you, or outwards, away from you.
You can take pictures, record video clips, view them and send them
in picture messages via MMS (Multimedia Messaging Service) or as email
attachments. To use email and MMS, you must subscribe to these services.
Please check with your network operator. You can also exchange pictures
and video clips using Bluetooth™ wireless technology, infrared or cables.
You can use a picture as a screen saver, wallpaper or start-up screen,
or save it together with a contact in your phonebook so that the picture
appears when that person calls.
The pictures and video clips can be saved on the Memory Stick Duo™ or in the phone memory. You can
easily transfer files between the different memories. See also the Getting started guide Managing files.
You can save your camera pictures in three different sizes:
Small 160x120 pixels. Your video clips can be saved in two different sizes: Large 176x144
or
and
Small 128x96 pixels. This allows you to decide the quality of your pictures and video clips,
as well as the number of pictures or video clips that can be saved (this depends on the size)
in the phone memory or on the Memory Stick Duo™.
Large 1280x1024, Medium 640x480
The camera has an external photo light that can be activated using the light button () on the side
of the phone.
With Product name you can easily create your own personal pictures. Before taking a picture, you can
change settings and add effects or frames. After taking a picture, you can edit your pictures by adding
effects, frames or clipart objects.

Activating the camera and video recorder
The camera and the video recorder can be activated in two ways, either by pressing and holding
on the right side of the phone, or by selecting
Camera in the main menu.
The viewfinder is now activated. Use and to switch between camera and video recorder .
For the camera, you can also use the external display as a viewfinder.

Camera
You can take pictures in two ways: either with the phone closed, or open. With the phone closed,
the external display works as a viewfinder. Before taking a picture with the phone opened, you may
select between different settings such as changing the picture size, selecting effects or frames.

To take a picture with the phone open
1. Press and hold to activate the camera.
2. Press to switch to camera if the video recorder is activated.
3. Rotate the lens outwards so that you can see the subject in the
viewfinder. In the upper right corner of the viewfinder, a counter
shows the number of pictures you can still save (when less than
1,000) for the selected picture size. The picture size is shown
beside the counter (pressto change picture size).
Use the volume buttons to adjust the brightness.

The picture is saved on the Memory Stick Duo™ as default,
if a Memory Stick Duo™ is inserted into the phone. If not,
the picture is saved in the phone memory. If you are using

Camera functionality
The camera has different functions allowing you to get the best picture quality with reference to your
surroundings. You can zoom in on an subject, adjust the brightness or use the photo light when lighting
conditions are poor.
Zoom
When the camera is activated, you can zoom in on an subject.
• Press to zoom in on the subject. To zoom in continuously, press and hold .
• Press to zoom out. To zoom out continuously, press and hold .
Using zoom can decrease the picture quality.
Brightness
The brightness determines how much white is added to each colour in the picture. When the camera
is activated, you can adjust the brightness of the picture you are going to take.
• Press on the side of the phone to increase the brightness.
• Press on the side of the phone to decrease the brightness.
Photo light
Your phone has a light which is placed around the camera lens. When you take pictures in a dimly
lit environment, you can turn on the photo light.
• Press and hold on the side of the phone to turn on the photo light.
• To turn off the photo light, press .
Do not look directly at the photo light diodes using a magnification device, since this may damage
your eyes.
