Before you start
The instructions in this document focus on how to set up a computer running Microsoft® Windows 2000,
Windows XP Home or Windows XP Professional using your phone as a modem to access the Internet.
Before you set up your computer and start using the modem, make sure you have the following:
• GSM phone subscription that supports data transmission using a packet switched connection (GPRS)
or a dial-up connection (CSD/HSCSD).
• Phone subscription that covers Internet browsing. If you are not sure whether you have this, please
contact your network operator.
• A data account (WAP configuration) set up in your phone. A simple way of setting up a data account is
to ask your network operator to send you a message that contains the required information to create
an account automatically on your mobile phone. You can also use the Phone setup on
www.sonyericsson.com/support to have all necessary WAP settings sent to your phone in a text
message (SMS).
