Preparations
To Insert battery A
1 Slide the OPEN switch to open the cassette
holder.
2 Release the catch to open the battery
compartment lid, and insert one R6 (size
AA) dry battery with correct polarity.
Note
•For maximum performance we recommend that you
use a Sony alkaline battery.
When to replace the battery B
Replace the battery with a new one when the BATT
lamp goes out.
Note
•After the battery is replaced, the settings of the
FUNCTION and SOUND buttons will be erased.
Playing a Tape
1 If the HOLD function is on, slide the HOLD
switch in the opposite direction of the
arrow to unlock the controls.
2 Insert a cassette and press Y•REPEAT on
the main unit, or if using the remote
control, press Y (play)•x (stop).
Adjust the volume with VOL.
When adjusting the volume on the main unit
Set the VOL control on the remote control at maximum.
When adjusting the volume on the remote control
Set the VOL control on the main unit slightly above the
appropriate level.

Using Other Functions
Adjusting playback mode
While holding down FUNCTION, press the
FF button. The BL SKIP/s lamp will
light as long as FUNCTION is pressed.
Both sides of the tape is played repeatedly
(s mode), and the tape are fastforwarded to the next track if there is a
blank space.
To cancel the BL SKIP/s mode, hold
down FUNCTION and then press FF. The
BL SKIP/s lamp goes out.
Both sides of the tape are played once (if
you start from the reverse side (opposite to
the lid), only that side will be played).
Protecting Your Hearing (AVLS)
When AVLS (Automatic Volume Limiter System) is
turned on, the maximum volume is kept down to
protect your ears.
While holding down FUNCTION, press
REW. The AVLS lamp will light as long as
FUNCTION is pressed.
To cancel the AVLS, while holding down
FUNCTION, press REW. The AVLS lamp
goes out.
Notes on FUNCTION
•When FUNCTION is pressed, the LED lamp will light
to show the present mode.
•When you enter a function mode, you will hear a
short beep and when you cancel it, you will hear two
short beeps.
Emphasizing Bass
Press SOUND. Each time you press the
button, the SOUND mode changes as
below.

MB (Mega bass): emphasizes bass

GRV (Groove): emphasizes deeper
bass sound

Notes
•If the sound is distorted with the mode “GRV”, turn
down the volume of the main unit or select other
modes.
•Bass emphasis may not show great effect if the
volume is turned up too high.
Locking the controls — HOLD
Function
Slide the HOLD switch in the direction of the arrow
to lock the controls.
Precautions
On batteries
• Do not carry dry batteries with coins or other metallic objects.
It can generate heat if the positive and negative terminals of
the batteries are accidentally contacted by a metallic object.
• When you are not going to use your Walkman for a long time,
remove the battery to prevent damage from battery leakage
and corrosion.
On handling
• Do not leave the unit in a location near heat sources, or in a
place subject to direct sunlight, excessive dust or sand,
moisture, rain, mechanical shock, or in a car with its windows
closed.
• Do not use cassettes longer than 90 minutes except for long
continuous playback.
• If the unit has not been used for a long time, set it in the
playback mode to warm it up for a few minutes before you
start using again.
On the remote control
Use the supplied remote control only with this unit.
On headphones/earphones
Road safety
Do not use headphones/earphones while driving, cycling, or
operating any motorized vehicle. It may create a traffic hazard
and is illegal in some areas. It can also be potentially dangerous
to play your headphones/earphones at high volume while
walking, especially at pedestrian crossings.
You should exercise extreme caution or discontinue use in
potentially hazardous situations.
Preventing hearing damage
Do not use headphones/earphones at high volume. Hearing
experts advise against continuous, loud and extended play. If
you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce volume or
discontinue use.
Caring for others
Keep the volume to a moderate level. This will allow you to
hear outside sounds and to be considerate to the people around
you.
On maintenance
To clean the tape head and path
Use the cleaning cassette CHK-1W/C-1KW (not supplied) every
10 hours of use.
Use only the recommended cleaning cassette.
To clean the exterior
Use a soft cloth slightly moistened in water. Do not use alcohol,
benzine or thinner.
Clean the headphones/earphones and remote control plugs
periodically.

裝電池 A
1 滑動OPEN（啟開）開關以打開卡帶架。

何時須更換電池 B
當BATT（電池）指示燈熄滅時，便請更換新電池。

播放磁帶
1 如果HOLD（保持）功能開著，即請相反於箭頭所
指方向滑動HOLD開關以解鎖各控制器。
2 裝入卡帶並按主機上的 Y•REPEAT，如果是用遙
控器操作，則按 Y（放音）•x（停止）。
用VOL調整音量。
在主機上調整音量時
請把遙控器上的VOL控制設定於最大電平。
在遙控器上調整音量時

使用其他功能
調整放音模式
按下FUNCTION，同時按 FF 按鈕。而按住 FUNCTION
按鈕多久，BL SKIPs 燈也隨著點亮多久。
將反復播放磁帶的雙面（s 模式）。播放中遇
到空白部分時，磁帶將自動地快進繞到下一首
曲。
要解除BL SKIPs 模式時，請按住FUNCTION，然
後按FF。BL SKIPs 燈即告熄滅。
磁帶便只播放一次雙面（如果是從倒繞面（蓋子
的相反面）開始播放，便只能播放該一面就停止
了）。

保護您的聽覺 (AVLS)
當打開了AVLS（自動音量限制系統）時，最大音量
將受限制以便保護您的耳朵。
按下FUNCTION，同時按 REW。
按住FUNCTION多久，AVLS指示燈即點亮多久。
要解除AVLS功能時，請按下FUNCTION，同時按
REW。AVLS指示燈將熄滅。
FUNCTION須知
•當按了FUNCTION操作按鈕時，即將點亮發光二極管燈以
表示現在的操作模式。
•當輸入功能模式時，都可聽到一短嘟聲，當您解除功能
時，裝可聽到兩短嘟聲。
加強低音
按SOUND。每次按此按鈕，SOUND（聲）模式即作如
下變化。
,, NORM（正常）：關掉功能
m 一短嘟聲
MB（Mega Bass）：加強低音
m 一長嘟聲
GRV（Groove（佳紋））：加強了深重低音
兩短嘟聲
註
•“GRV”（最佳狀態）模式時，如果聲音發生失真，即請轉小
主機的音量，或選擇其他模式。
• 如果把音量轉得太大，低音加強功能可能不發生太大效果。
鎖定控制器 — HOLD功能
沿箭頭所指方向滑動HOLD開關以鎖定控制器。
使用前須注意
電池須知
• 請勿將乾電池與硬幣或其他金屬小件混在一起攜帶。如果電池
的正極和負極意外地接觸了金屬小件，將會發熱。
• 長期不使用Walkman時，請取出電池以避免因電池漏液而腐蝕受
損。
本機須知
• 請勿將本機置於熱源附近，或受陽光直射、極多塵沙、潮濕、
會淋到雨、有機械衝擊的地方，或緊閉的汽車裡。
• 請不要使用9 0 分鐘以上長度的磁帶，除非需要長時間連續放音
或錄音。
• 如果長時間未使用本機，在重新開始使用之前，請先將其置於
放音狀態預熱幾分鐘。
遙控器須知
本機請限使用附帶的遙控器。
頭戴耳機耳機須知
交通安全
請勿在駕車、騎車或操縱任何機動車輛時使用頭戴耳機耳機，
否則可能導致交通事故，有些地區是違法的。即使在步行時，特
別是在過馬路時，高音量地使用頭戴耳機耳機也會有潛在的危
險。
在可能有危險的情況下，必須減小音量或暫停使用。
防止損傷聽力
請勿高音量地使用頭戴耳機耳機。耳科專家告誡不要連續、高
音量和長時間使用耳機。有耳鳴經驗的人也請調低音量或不連續
使用。
為他人著想
請保持適當的音量，使您能聽到外界的聲音，並不騷擾周圍的
人。
維修須知
清潔磁頭和磁帶通道
機器每使用10個小時，便請用清潔卡帶CHK-1W/C-1KW（無附帶）
清潔磁頭和通道。
清潔機殼
用軟布蘸濕清水擦拭清潔，切勿使用酒精，油精或稀疏劑。
也請定期地擦拭清潔頭戴耳機耳機和遙控器插頭。

준비
배터리를 넣으려면 A
1 OPEN 스위치를 밀어서 카세트 홀더를 엽니다.
2 잠금쇠를 푼 후에 배터리실 커버를 열고 R6(AA 사
이즈) 배터리 한 개를 바른 방향으로 넣습니다.
주의점
• 성능을 최대한 발휘시키기 위해서 Sony 알카라인 배터리를 사
용하실 것을 권장합니다.
배터리의 교환 시기 B
BATT 램프가 꺼지면 새 배터리로 교환하여 주십시오.
주의점
• 배터리를 교환하면 FUNCTION과 SOUND 버튼의 설정은 소
거됩니다.
테이프를 재생하기
AVLS(Automatic Volume Limiter System, 자동 음량
제한 시스템)를 사용하면 최대 음량을 낮게 제한해서 청력을
보호합니다.
FUNCTION을 누르면서 REW를 누릅니다.
FUNCTION을 누르고 있는 동안 AVLS 램프가
점등됩니다.
AVLS를 취소하려면 FUNCTION을 누르면서
REW를 누릅니다. AVLS 램프가 꺼집니다.
FUNCTION에 관한 주의
• FUNCTION을 누르면 LED 램프가 점등되고 현재 모드가 표
시됩니다.
• 어떤 기능 모드로 들어가면 짧은 비프음이 들리고 모드를 취소하
면 짧은 비프음이 2번 들립니다.
저음을 강조하기
SOUND를 누릅니다. 이 버튼을 누를 때마다 SOUND
모드는 다음과 같이 변경됩니다.

습니다.
컨트롤 스위치류를 로크하기 — HOLD 기능
HOLD 스위치를 화살표 방향으로 밀어서 컨트롤 스위치류를
로크합니다.
사용상의 주의
배터리에 대해서
• 건전지를 동전 등의 금속과 함께 휴대하지 마십시오. 배터리의 양극
과 음극이 금속에 의해서 접촉되면 발열되는 경우가 있습니다.
• Walkman을 장기간 사용하지 않을 때에는 배터리의 누액에 의한 부
식을 방지하기 위해서 배터리를 꺼내 놓으십시오.

재생 모드를 조절하기
FUNCTION을 누르면서 FF 버튼을 누릅니다.
FUNCTION을 누르고 있는 동안 BL SKIP/s
램프가 점등됩니다. 테이프의 양면을 반복 재생하
고(s 모드) 공백이 있으면 테이프는 다음 곡으로
고속감기됩니다.
BL SKIP/s 모드를 취소하려면 FUNCTION
을 누르면서 FF를 누릅니다.
BL SKIP/s 램프가 꺼집니다.
테이프의 양면이 한 번 재생됩니다(뒷면(커버 반대
면)부터 재생을 시작했을 때에는 그 면만 재생됩니
다).
• 본기를 난방 기구의 가까이, 직사광선이 닿는 장소, 먼지나 모래가 많
은 장소, 수분, 비, 진동이 있는 장소, 창문을 꼭 닫은 자동차 안 등에
방치하지 마십시오.
• 90분을 초과하는 테이프는 장시간 연속 재생 이외에는 사용하지 마
십시오.
• 본기를 장기간 사용하지 않았을 때에는 몇 분간 재생 상태로 해서 워
밍업한 후에 카세트를 넣어 주십시오.
리모컨에 대해서
부속된 리모컨은 본기에서만 사용하여 주십시오.
헤드폰/이어폰에 대해서
교통 안전에 대해서
자전거, 오토바이, 자동차 등의 운전 중에는 헤드폰/이어폰을 사용하지
마십시오. 교통 사고의 위험이 있을 뿐만 아니라 위법이 되는 지역도 있
습니다. 보행 중에도 특히 횡단보도에서는 큰 소리로 헤드폰/이어폰을
사용하는 것은 위험한 경우가 있습니다.
위험하다고 생각되는 경우에는 충분히 주의하거나 사용을 중지하십시
오.
청력을 보호하기 위해서
헤드폰/이어폰은 큰 소리로 사용하지 마십시오. 전문가는 계속해서 큰
소리를 장시간 듣는 것은 위험하다고 합니다. 귀가 울릴 때에는 음량을
줄이거나 사용을 중지하십시오.
주위의 분들께 배려를
적절한 음량으로 즐겨 주십시오. 주의의 소리가 들릴 뿐만 아니라 주의
의 분들께 폐도 끼치지 않게 됩니다.
손질법에 대해서
테이프 헤드와 주행 경로를 클리닝하려면
10시간 사용할 때마다 클리닝 카세트 CHK-1W/C-1KW(별매품)를
사용하여 주십시오.
반드시 권장용 클리닝 카세트를 사용하여 주십시오.
본체를 클리닝하려면
물로 살짝 적신 부드로운 헝겊을 사용하여 주십시오. 알코올이나 벤젠
또는 시너는 사용하지 마십시오.
헤드폰/이어폰과 리모컨의 플러그는 정기적으로 클리닝하여 주십시오.
