Brilliant performance in compact design. This superb Carl Zeiss®
Vario-Sonnar® T* Zoom Lens provides large-aperture f2.8 brilliance,
all-purpose 24-70mm zoom range and fast, silent auto-focus with
SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor) design -- plus aspherical and ED glass
elements to reduce distortion for superior clarity and color (35mm
equivalent: 36-105mm).

Superb image quality

Two ED glass elements and 2 aspherical elements help reduce chromatic aberration throughout the focal range.

Carl Zeiss® T* coating

The legendary T* coating from Carl Zeiss makes it possible to design complex optics by reducing internal reections on multi-element

lenses minimizing are and allowing for higher contrast. The result, signicantly improved performance throughout the entire optical

path.

17 elements in 13 groups

The specially designed grouping of elements includes a oating design between the 3rd and 4th groups allowing for excellent

compensation of various aberrations caused by zooming.

SSM (Super Sonic wave Motor)

Designed for fast, smooth, silent automatic focusing, this unique technology achieves high torque at low speed with rapid start/stop

response. It operates through the ability of a piezoelectric device to reshape itself quickly when voltage is applied.

For those that insist on the quality of a large aperture prime, but want the convenience of a variable focal length, this is a lens that

brings the best of both worlds. The large F2.8 maximum aperture is maintained throughout the focal range of 24mm - 70mm.
