In the fu tu re you ma y wa nt to insta ll me m o ry mo dules to ex p a nd the functionality of you r computer. You can increase memory to 128 MB by installing optional memory modules. 64 MB of me mory are already installed on your computer. You can add another memory module in a slot. 32 and 64 MB expansion memory modules are available as optional memory modu les.
Make sure you observe the proper safety precautions when you install memory modules in

your computer. See the bulleted list below. Be carefu l when adding memory . Mistakes when installing or removing a memory module may cause a malfunction.
The procedures described belo w assu m e familia rity wit h the gene ral
terminology associated with personal computers and with the safety practices and regulatory compliance required for using and modifying electronic equipment.
Disconnect the system from its power source and from any
telecommunications links, networks, or modems before you open the system or follow any of the procedures described below. Failure to do so may result in personal injury or equipment damage.
Electrostatic discharge (ESD) can damage disk drives and other
components . Pe rf orm th e pr oc edur e s de scri bed be low only at an ESD workstation. I f su ch a station is not available, do not work in a carpeted area, an d do not handle m aterial s that pr oduce or hold stat ic electricity (cellophane wrappers, for example). Gro und yourself by maintaining contact with an unpainted metal portion of the chassis while performing the procedure.
Do not open the memory module package until you are ready to
install the module. The package protects the module from ESD.
Use the special bag for preventing ESD or use aluminum foil when
you stor e the memory module.

To install a memory module

Turn off you r co mpute r and remove all the cabl es c on ne cted to it . You must also r e move the batt ery.

When the compu ter has cooled completely, turn it upsi de down. Gently in sert a wire or other pointed object into the hole next to the lid of the memory module compartment. Slide the lid off in the direction of the arrow.
The computer remains hot after it has been turned off. To avoid burns to fingers or hands,

let the computer cool completely before detaching the memory module l id.
