What's Bluetooth?

Bluetooth is a new technology that enables wireless data communication by mobile phones, computers or other mobile devices. Bluetooth wireless technology operates within a range of about 10 meters* (about 30 feet). * Obstacles (body, metal, wall, etc.) or reception conditions

may adversely affect the usable range.

• Bluetooth communication may be affected by the conditions below.

– Obstacles between the Bluetooth earset and the

Bluetooth earset adaptor or Bluetooth mobile phone : Body, metal, walls, etc.

– Electromagnetic waves

: A place where a wireless LAN is installed, a microwave oven is used, or where electromagnetic energy exists

•The above is also subject to the mobile phone’s antenna and reception conditions.

Charging the units

The Bluetooth earset contains a rechargeable Lithium-Ion battery and the Bluetooth earset adaptor contains a NickelMetal Hydride battery, which should be charged before using for the first time.

1 Dock the Bluetooth earset with the

Bluetooth earset adaptor.

2 Connect the supplied AC power adaptor to

the DC IN 4.5 V jack on the Bluetooth earset adaptor.

When the AC power adaptor is connected to an AC outlet, both units will turn off automatically.

3 Make sure that the indicator lights up

green.

If the LED on the Bluetooth earset does not light up green, dock again, and make sure the indicator lights up green. Charging is completed in about 2.5 hours* and the indicator goes off.

*Time required to fully charge empty battery.

Caution

If this unit detects a problem while charging, the LED may blink green, and will turn off although the charge is not complete. Check for the following causes: –Environmental temperature exceeds the range of 0˚C-

40˚C (32˚F-104˚F). –There is a problem with the battery. In this case, charge again within the above-mentioned temperature range. If the problem persists, consult your nearest Sony dealer.

Notes

•The unit cannot operate while charging.

• Charge in an environmental temperature of between

0˚C and 40˚C (between 32˚F and 104˚F).

•Avoid exposure to temperature extremes, direct sunlight,

moisture, sand, dust or mechanical shock. Never leave in

a car parked in the sun.

• Use only the supplied AC power adaptor. Do not use any

other AC power adaptor.

Polarity of the plug

The low battery display

The LED display colour of either unit changes from blue to green when battery charge is low. (In some cases, the Bluetooth earset adaptor LED may light permanently blue.) In this case, recharge the battery immediately. After use, recharge the unit frequently.

Note

If the life of the built-in rechargeable battery drops to half the normal length, the battery should be replaced. Consult your nearest Sony dealer for replacement of the rechargeable battery.

Pairing the units

The Bluetooth earset adaptor is designed specifically for the Bluetooth earset; connection with other equipment cannot guarantee operation.

To pair the Bluetooth earset with the Bluetooth earset adaptor

The Bluetooth earset and Bluetooth earset adaptor come already paired from the factory. To pair the Bluetooth earset and Bluetooth earset adaptor again after use, do the following.

1 Place the Bluetooth earset and the

Bluetooth earset adaptor close together, as illustrated.

2 While the Bluetooth earset is turned off,

press and hold the Multifunction button.

The LED will blink in blue for the first 7 seconds (approx.). Keep pressed until the LED blinks blue and green.

3 Press the Power on button of the

Bluetooth earset adaptor.

4 With the point of the hanger on the

Bluetooth earset or similar instrument, press and hold the Pairing / Power off button (for about 3 seconds) until the LED lights up blue and green.

To pair the Bluetooth earset with a Bluetooth mobile phone

The Bluetooth earset can pair directly with a Bluetooth mobile phone. Do the following.

1 Place the Bluetooth earset and the

Bluetooth mobile phone close together within 1 m.

2 While the Bluetooth earset is turned off,

press and hold the Multifunction button.

The LED will blink in blue for the first 7 seconds (approx.). Keep pressed until the LED blinks blue and green.

3 Search the Bluetooth earset by the

Bluetooth mobile phone.

When the Bluetooth mobile phone detects the Bluetooth earset, “DR-BT1” will appear in the display of the Bluetooth mobile phone.

4 Select “DR-BT1” in the list displayed on

your Bluetooth mobile phone.

If “DR-BT1” is not displayed, repeat steps 1 to 3.

5 Input the passkey* [0000] so that passkey

of “DR-BT1” will be requested to be input from your Bluetooth mobile phone.

*Passkey may also be called the following.

– Pass code, PIN code, PIN number, Password.

6 If the LED of the Bluetooth earset changes

from blinking blue and green to blinking blue slowly (every 3 seconds), the pairing has completed.

The unit will enter the standby mode. The display of the Bluetooth mobile phone will usually show that pairing has completed.

Operating the system

Wearing the earset

1 Hook the Bluetooth earset around your

ear, as you would glasses.

2 Adjust the position of the Bluetooth earset

to fit comfortably.

Changing the direction of the hanger

This unit can be worn on the right or left ear by the following procedure. Example: When changing over from right to left ear.

1 Holding the housing firmly, unlatch the

hanger assembly.

2 Holding the housing, rotate the hanger,

and then pull out in the direction of the arrow.

3 Rotate the housing to the other side.

4 Attach the hanger in the direction of the

arrow as illustrated below.

Note

The housing and the hanger are marked left (L) and right (R). For example, when using the left ear, the housing is set in the L position, and the hanger is attached with the L mark visible.

Tip

The unit comes with 2 hanger sizes to ensure a comfortable fit.

Notes

• The LED colour of either unit changes from blue to green when battery charge is low.

• Communication may sometimes not occur, even though the Multifunction button on the Bluetooth earset is pressed. In such a case, the LED double blinks (blue) 3 to 5 times, after which the Bluetooth earset enters standby mode.

Failure to communicate will occur in the following cases: – The Bluetooth earset adaptor is not turned on. – The Bluetooth earset is not paired with the Bluetooth

earset adaptor or your Bluetooth mobile phone.

– The Bluetooth function on your Bluetooth mobile

phone is not activated.

Operating the units

– To use this unit with your

mobile phone

General operation flow on the Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth earset adaptor is described as follows:

A Change to standby mode

1 Prepare the Bluetooth earset

Press and hold the Multifunction button on the Bluetooth earset for about 7 seconds.

When the LED blinks blue rapidly (for 1 second), release the button. The LED starts to blink blue slowly (every 3 seconds). A low/high beep sounds when the unit turns on.

Note

Take care that the Multifunction button is not pressed and held for more than about 10 seconds, otherwise pairing mode is entered.

2 Prepare the Bluetooth earset adaptor

1 Press the POWER ON button a few

seconds.

The LED lights up blue and green, then the LED starts to blink blue slowly (every 10 seconds).

2 Connect the Bluetooth earset adaptor to

your mobile phone.

2.5 mm tri-pole jack

If there are no obstacles between the Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth earset adaptor, communication sensitivity increases.

B Connect between the

Bluetooth earset and the mobile phone

Press the Multifunction button.

The Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth earset adaptor connect (audio communication), and sound from the mobile phone is heard on the Bluetooth earset. The pipe microphone transmits your voice to the mobile phone.

During audio communication, the LED on the Bluetooth earset blinks 3 times (every 3 seconds). The LED on the Bluetooth earset adaptor blinks blue (every second).

Notes

•The sound will be heard after a few seconds of pressing the Multifunction button.

• After 2 hours (approx.), the audio communication will terminate automatically.

C Call

This unit is used for receiving and sending the sound of your mobile phone.

Via the Bluetooth earset adaptor To call: Use the keypad of your mobile phone to dial the

number, then press the call button. To receive a call: Answer the call as you normally would, using the receive button. To terminate a call: Press the end button of your mobile phone.

Tips

•The auto-receiving function on your mobile phone makes this more convenient.

• If your mobile phone is equipped with a voice-dial function, you can dial by the pipe microphone.

Refer to the manual supplied with your mobile phone about the voice-dial function.

D Terminate communication

between the unit

Press the Multifunction button once.

Audio communication terminates. The Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth earset adaptor return to the standby mode.

E Shut down the unit

1 Shut down the Bluetooth earset

Press and hold the Multifunction button on the Bluetooth earset until the LED turns off.

When the unit has turned off, the LED on the Bluetooth earset blinks green rapidly (for 2 seconds). A high/low beep sounds when the unit turns off.

At this time, the current volume level is stored.

Note

If the unit turns off when charging, the current volume level is not stored.

2 Shut down the Bluetooth earset

adaptor

With the point of the hanger on the Bluetooth earset or similar instrument, press and hold the Pairing/Power off button until the LED turns off.

The LED lights up blue/green while pressing the Pairing/Power off button. Keep pressing the Pairing/Power off button until the LED turns off (about 12 seconds).

To adjust the volume (To pair with the Bluetooth earset adaptor)

Press VOLUME + or – during connection.

A beep corresponding to the selected volume is heard every time you press either button. The volume does not change although the beep sound is heard when not connecting. When the volume setting is maximum or minimum, the beep does not sound.

When the sound is low, raise the volume of your mobile phone. The sound will be clearer.

The Bluetooth earset can communicate directly with your Bluetooth mobile phone. For details, refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone.

Note

The Bluetooth earset should be paired with the Bluetooth mobile phone beforehand.

A Prepare the Bluetooth earset

Press and hold the Multifunction button on the Bluetooth earset for about 7 seconds.

When the LED blinks blue rapidly (for 1 second), release the button. The LED starts to blink blue slowly (every 3 seconds). A low/high beep sounds when the unit turns on.

Note

Take care that the Multifunction button is not held down for more than about 10 seconds, otherwise pairing mode is entered.

B Prepare the Bluetooth mobile

phone

Confirm the Bluetooth mobile phone is turned on. Activate the Bluetooth function of the Bluetooth mobile phone.

For details, refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone.

C Connect between the

Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth mobile phone

With the Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth mobile phone already paired, Bluetooth communication connects by pressing the Multifunction button. In the following cases, communicate again between the Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth mobile phone. – the Bluetooth earset is turned off

– the Bluetooth mobile phone (or its Bluetooth function) is

turned off

– the Bluetooth function on the Bluetooth mobile phone

and the Bluetooth earset are in sleep mode

– Bluetooth communication has terminated

Note

Refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone about Bluetooth communication and the Bluetooth function.

D Call

To call: Use the keypad of your Bluetooth mobile phone to dial the number, then press the call button. If there is no sound from the Bluetooth earset, press the Multifunction button.

Tip

It is possible to call in various ways, depending on the Bluetooth mobile phone. Refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone. –You can call by pressing the Multifunction button using

the voice-dial function when in standby.

–You can call a specific number by pressing the

Multifunction button when in standby.

–You can call to the last number by holding the Volume +

or - button in standby (only when using Hands-free profile).

To receive a call: When the telephone is ringing, Bluetooth communication will connect automatically, and sound will be heard through the Bluetooth earset. Press the Multifunction button on the Bluetooth earset.

Note

If you pressed the call button on the Bluetooth mobile phone, some Bluetooth mobile phones may have handset use priority. In this case, set to talk with the Bluetooth earset by pressing the Multifunction button, or by operating the Bluetooth mobile phone. For details, refer to the manual supplied with your Bluetooth mobile phone.

To terminate a call: You can end a call by pressing the Multifunction button on the Bluetooth earset. In the following cases, audio communication terminates automatically. – the end button on the Bluetooth mobile phone is pressed

– the recipient hangs up the calling

E Shut down the Bluetooth

Press and hold the Multifunction button on the Bluetooth earset until the LED turns off.

When the unit has turned off, the LED on the Bluetooth earset blinks green rapidly (for 2 seconds). A high/low beep sounds when the unit turns off.

To adjust the volume (To pair with the Bluetooth mobile phone)

Press VOLUME + or – during connection.

A beep corresponding to the selected volume is heard every time you press either button. When the volume setting is maximum or minimum, the beep does not sound.

How to use the car attachment

The car attachment (supplied) can be used to hold the Bluetooth earset adaptor, by installing it in the vent of the air conditioner of your car. This is convenient for using while driving.

Notes

•The car attachment may not install besides the above. Do not install the unit by force if installation is difficult. This may break a fin.

•Take care not to install or remove the unit by force. A fin may break.

• If necessary, protect the dashboard and the air conditioner vent with tape, etc., so as not to damage anything.

• Install this unit in a place that does not disturb the air bag function or your driving.

• Be sure to turn off the vent’s auto-swing function if your car has one.

To install the car attachment

1 Attach the hook to the rear of the

attachment. Ensure it is the correct way round. (See illustration.)

2 Attach the spacer under the hook firmly

after peeling off the double-sided tape.

3 Insert the hook in the vent of the air

conditioner. Ensure the hook is firmly clipped to the fin.

4 Dock the Bluetooth earset adaptor’s belt

clip in the attachment.

• Use the other hook (L) if the air conditioner is sloped.

Troubleshooting

1 Push the car attachment back, and push it

gently off the vent.

2 Remove the attachment while pressing the

fin.

Note

If the attachment is pulled out and catches a fin, it may damage it.

Additional information

Disposing of the Bluetooth earset and adaptor

For environmental conservation, be sure to remove the built-in rechargeable batteries from the units before you dispose of them, and dispose of the batteries appropriately.

1 Remove the two screws from the rear.

2 Push hard around the arrow as illustrated

to unlatch the unit assembly.

3 Lift lightly by the pipe microphone.

4 Remove the battery holder with battery

first, and then remove the battery from the battery holder.

5 Remove the connector.

Problem

The recipient voice cannot be heard.

Low sound from recipient

The recipient cannot hear or easily your voice.

Power does not turn on.

The power of Bluetooth earset adaptor cannot be turned off.

The correspondence distance is short. (The noise mixes with the voice. )

Pairing can not be done.

The Bluetooth earset cannot be charged.

Solution

Check that the Bluetooth earset adaptor is connected to the mobile phone correctly.

Check that the jack of your mobile phone is a 2.5 mm triple polarity jack.

Plug the Bluetooth earset adaptor in properly.

Check that the power of the Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth earset adaptor are on.

Check the volume of your mobile phone.

Check the volume of the Bluetooth earset.

Make the pairing of Bluetooth earset and Bluetooth earset adaptor again when Bluetooth earset is connected to other Bluetooth products.

Check that the jack of your mobile phone is a 2.5 mm triple polarity jack.

Plug the Bluetooth earset adaptor in properly.

Turn up the volume on your mobile phone.

Check that the Bluetooth earset adaptor is connected to the mobile phone correctly.

Check that the jack of your mobile phone is a 2.5 mm triple polarity jack.

Plug the Bluetooth earset adaptor in properly.

Release the mute of Mic by pressing the volume button once when the Mic of the Bluetooth earset is muted. (Intermittent beep sound can be heard during muting.)

Recharge both units. The unit cannot be turned on

when charging. Unplug the AC power adaptor from the Bluetooth earset adaptor.

Turn off the power of Bluetooth earset adaptor after turning off the Bluetooth earset.

If there are the obstacles between the Bluetooth earset and the Bluetooth earset adaptor or Bluetooth mobile phone, remove and avoid the obstacles.

Carga de las unidades

Los auriculares Bluetooth contienen una batería recargable de iones de litio y el adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth contiene una batería de hidruro de níquel metálico, que se debe cargar antes de usar la unidad por primera vez.

1 Coloque el adaptador para auriculares

Precaución

Cuando esta unidad detecta alguna anormalidad durante el proceso de carga, el indicador LED puede parpadear en color verde y se apagará aunque no haya finalizado la carga. Compruebe las causas siguientes: – La temperatura ambiente excede el rango de 0º C a 40º C

(de 32º F a 104º F). – Hay un problema con la batería, etc. En este caso, vuelva a realizar la carga dentro del rango de

temperatura mencionado. Si el problema persiste, consulte con el distribuidor Sony más cercano a su domicilio.

Notas

• No se puede utilizar la unidad mientras se está cargando.

• Realice la carga con una temperatura ambiente entre 0º C

y 40º C (entre 32º F y 104º F).

• Evite la exposición a temperaturas extremas, luz solar

el sol.

• Utilice solamente el adaptador de alimentación de ca

Después de usar la unidad, vuelva a cargarla con frecuencia.

Sincronización de las unidades

El adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth sólo debe utilizarse con los auriculares Bluetooth. Si se conectase con otros equipos, el funcionamiento no está garantizado.

Para sincronizar el adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth con los auriculares

Los auriculares Bluetooth y el adaptador correspondiente ya vienen sincronizados de fábrica. Para sincronizar nuevamente los auriculares Bluetooth con el adaptador correspondiente después del uso, siga estos pasos:

1 Acerque los auriculares Bluetooth y el

adaptador correspondiente, como se ilustra.

2 Mientras los auriculares Bluetooth están

apagados, mantenga presionado el botón de multifunción.

El LED parpadeará en color azul durante los primeros 7 segundos (aprox.). Mantenga presionado hasta que el LED parpadee en azul y verde.

3 Presione el botón de encendido del

adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth.

4 Mantenga presionado el botón de

sincronización / apagado con la punta del soporte en los auriculares Bluetooth o un instrumento similar (durante 3 segundos) hasta que el LED se ilumine en azul y verde.

Después de unos segundos, el parpadeo azul y verde de ambas unidades cambiará y parpadeará sólo en azul para indicar el modo de espera.

Nota

Para sincronizar ambas unidades, se debe utilizar el modo de sincronización. El tiempo de espera del modo de sincronización de cualquiera de las unidades es el siguiente: Auriculares Bluetooth: aproximadamente 60 segundos. Adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth: aproximadamente 20 segundos.

Para emparejar el auricular-micrófono Bluetooth con un teléfono móvil Bluetooth

El auricular-micrófono Bluetooth podrá emparejarse directamente con un teléfono móvil Bluetooth. Realice lo siguiente.

1 Acerque los auriculares Bluetooth y el

teléfono móvil a una distancia de 1 m.

2 Mientras los auriculares Bluetooth están

apagados, mantenga presionado el botón de multifunción.

El LED parpadeará en color azul durante los primeros 7 segundos (aprox.). Mantenga presionado hasta que el LED parpadee en azul y verde.

3 Busque el auricular-micrófono Bluetooth

mediante el teléfono móvil Bluetooth.

Cuando el teléfono móvil Bluetooth detecte el auricular-micrófono Bluetooth, en el visualizador de dicho teléfono Bluetooth aparecerá “DR-BT1”.

4 Seleccione “DR-BT1” en la lista

visualizada en su teléfono móvil Bluetooth.

Si no aparece “DR-BT1”, repita los pasos del 1 al 3.

5 Introduzca la clave de acceso* [0000] para

que sea solicitada introducción de la clave de acceso al “DR-BT1” desde su teléfono móvil Bluetooth.

* La tecla de acceso también se puede denominar de

la siguiente manera:

– Código de acceso, código PIN, número PIN,

contraseña.

6 Si el LED de los auriculares Bluetooth deja

de parpadear en azul y verde y comienza a parpadear en azul lentamente (cada 3 segundos), se habrá finalizado la sincronización.

La unidad entrará en el modo de espera. El visualizador del teléfono móvil Bluetooth normalmente mostrará que el emparejamiento ha finalizado.

Uso del sistema

Uso de los auriculares

1 Enganche los auriculares Bluetooth

Mantenga presionado el botón multifunción del auricular-micrófono Bluetooth durante unos 7 segundos.

Cuando el LED azul parpadee rápidamente (durante 1 segundo), suelte el botón. El LED azul comenzará a parpadear lentamente (cada 3 segundos). Cuando se conecte la alimentación de la unidad, sonará un pitido bajo/alto.

Nota

Tenga cuidado de no dejar presionado el botón de multifunción durante más de 10 segundos; de lo contrario, pasará al modo de sincronización.

Notas

• Demora unos segundos entre que se presiona el botón y se escucha el sonido.

• Después de 2 horas (aprox.), la conexión de audio se desconectará automáticamente.

C Llamada

Esta unidad se utiliza para recibir y enviar sonido mediante el teléfono móvil.

A través del adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth Para llamar: utilice el teclado del teléfono móvil para

marcar el número y, a continuación presione el botón de llamada. Para recibir una llamada: respóndala como lo haría normalmente con el botón de recepción. Para terminar una llamada: Presione el botón de finalización de su teléfono móvil.

Consejos

• La función de recepción automática del teléfono móvil facilita el uso de esta función.

• Si el teléfono móvil está equipado con la función de marcado por voz, puede marcar mediante el micrófono tubular.

Se desconecta la conexión de audio. Los auriculares Bluetooth y el adaptador correspondiente retornan al modo de espera.

1 Para apagar los auriculares Bluetooth

Mantenga presionado el botón de multifunción de los auriculares Bluetooth hasta que se apague el LED.

Cuando la unidad está apagada, el LED de los auriculares Bluetooth parpadea rápidamente en color verde (durante 2 segundos). Se escucha un pitido alto / bajo cuando la unidad está apagada.

En este momento, se almacena el nivel de volumen actual.

Nota

Si la unidad se apaga mientras se está cargando, no se almacena el nivel de volumen actual.

2 Para apagar el adaptador para

auriculares Bluetooth

Mantenga presionado el botón de multifunción de los auriculares Bluetooth hasta que se apague el LED.

Cuando la unidad está apagada, el LED de los auriculares Bluetooth parpadea rápidamente en color verde (durante 2 segundos). Se escucha un pitido alto / bajo cuando la unidad está apagada.

En este momento, se almacena el nivel de volumen actual.

Uso del accesorio para automóvil

El accesorio para automóvil (suministrado) se puede utilizar para sostener el adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth, si se instala en la ventilación del aire acondicionado de su automóvil. Se aconseja usarlo mientras maneja.

No es posible encender la unidad mientras se realiza la carga. Desenchufe el adaptador de alimentación ca del adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth.

Apague el adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth después de haber apagado los auriculares Bluetooth.

Si hay obstáculos entre el auricular-micrófono Bluetooth y el adaptador para auricularmicrófono Bluetooth o teléfono móvil Bluetooth, elimine y evítelos.

Cuando haya algún equipo que emita radiaciones electromagnéticas como, por ejemplo, una LAN inalámbrica, otros equipos de Bluetooth y hornos microondas en el lugar de uso. Aléjese de éstos y proceda al uso.

Realice el emparejamiento acercando el auricularmicrófono Bluetooth y el adaptador para auricularmicrófono Bluetooth o el teléfono móvil Bluetooth.

Coloque los auriculares Bluetooth junto con el adaptador correspondiente de manera que el indicador LED se ilumine en verde.

Si la terminal de contacto de los auriculares Bluetooth y la clavija de contacto del adaptador para auriculares Bluetooth están sucias, límpielas suavemente con un paño seco.

Precauciones

• Evite el uso de los auriculares Bluetooth con el volumen alto durante un período prolongado. Esto podría perjudicar la audición. La escucha con auriculares a un volumen alto también podría producir zumbidos en función del equipo conectado al auricular. Se recomienda mantener el volumen en niveles moderados en todo momento.
