Objects and liquid entry - Take care that objects or liquids do not get inside the unit through the ventilation openings.

Carts and stands - When placed or
mounted on a stand or cart, the unit should L be moved with care. Quick storx, excessive force, and uneven surfaces may cause the unit or cart to overturn or fall.

Condensation - Moisture may form on the CD pickup

- The heating system has just been turned on
- The unit is used in a very humid room
- The unit is cooled by an air conditioner When this unit has condensation inside, it may not function normally. Should this occur, leave the unit for a few hours, then try to operate again.

mounted on a wall or ceiling, unless specified in the Operating Instructions.

Precautions
Read the Operating Instructions carefully and completely before operating the unit. Be sure to keep the Operating
Instructions the Operating Instructions and on the unit should be strictly followed, as well as the safety suggestions below.
Installation

Water and moisture - Do not use this unit near water,
such as near a bathtub, washbowl, kitchen sink, laundry tub, in a wet basement, swimming pool, or the like.

Heat
heating vents, stoves, or other appliances that generate heat. It also should not be placed in temperatures less than 5°C (41 oF) or greater than 35°C (95”F).

Mounting surface - Place the unit on a flat, even surface.

Ventilation - The unit should be situated with adequate space around it so that proper heat ventilation is assured. Allow 10 cm (4 in.) clearance from the rear and the top of the unit and 5 cm (2 in.) from each side.
- Do not place the unit on a bed, rug, or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings.
- Do not install the unit in a bookcase, cabinet, or airtight
‘rack where ventilation may be impeded.

Power sources - Use on batteries or AC house current, as specified in the Operating Instructions and marked on the unit.

Polarization - As a safety feature, some units are equipped with polarized AC power plugs which can only be inserted one way into a power outlet. If it is difficult or impossible to insert the AC power plug into an outlet, turn the plug over and try again. If it still does not easily insert
into the outlet, please call a qualified service technician to service or replace the outlet. To avoid defeating the safety feature of the polarized plug, do not force it into a
power outlet.

- When disconnecting the AC power cord, pull it out by the AC power plug. Do not pull the cord itself.
- Never handle the AC power plug with wet hands, as this could result in fire or shock.
- Power cords should be firmly secured to avoid being bent, pinched, or walked upon. Pay particular attention to the cord from the unit to the power socket.
- Avoid overloading AC power plugs and extension cords
beyond their capacity, as this could result in fire or
shock.

Extension cord - To help prevent electric shock, do not
use a polarized AC power plug with an extension cord, receptacle, or other outlet unless the polarized plug can
be completely inserted to prevent exposure of the blades of the plug. When not in use - Urmlug the AC power cord from the

AC outlet or remove al’1th; batteries if the unit will not be
used for several months or more. When the cord is
plugged in, a small amount of current continues to flow to the unit, even when the power is turned off.
Maintenance
Clean the unit only as recommended in the Operating
instructions.
Damage Requiring Service
Have the units serviced by a qualified service technician if:
- The AC power cord or plug has been damaged
- Foreign objects or liquid have got inside the unit
- The unit has been exposed to rain or water
- The unit does not seem to operate normally
- The unit exhibits a marked change in performance
- The unit has been dropped, or the cabinet has been damaged

IMPORTANT
Make sure that POWER is set to (!) STANDBY before connecting the ACcord or inserting batteries.
Connect the AC cord as illustrated below.

Notes on batteries
Do not mix different types of batteries or old batteries with
new ones.
When the unit is not to be used for a long period, remove
the batteries to prevent needless battery wear.
Never recharge the batteries, apply heat to them or take
them apart.
Remove dead batteries.
If liquid leaks from the batteries, wipe thoroughly to remove.
CAUTION
Use only the supplied AC cord. Use with other cords may result in the risk of fire.
Backup function
If the AC power supply is interrupted, the clock is reset. To
back up the clock, insert batteries as illustrated below.
Open the lid of the battery compartment on the rear and insert six RI 4 (size C) batteries, not supplied, with the 0 and O marks correctly aligned. Then close the lid.
To switch from AC power supply to battery power
supply, disconnect the AC cord from the AC inlet.
The batteries need to be replaced when:
- The OPE/BATT indicator becomes dim
- Sound is distorted during operation
- The clock display flashes after power interruption When replacing the batteries, keep the AC cord connected to the AC outlet to back up clock setting.
NOTE
When operating on battery power supply:
The clock is not displayed with POWER set to (!) STANDBY
or TIMER.
The timer docx not function.

Maintenance
To clean the cabinet
tJse a soft cloth lightly moistened with mild detergent
solution. DO not use strong solvents such as alcohol,
benzine or thinner.
To clean the lens
tJse a cotton swab slightly moistened with cleaning fluid. \fVipe gently from the center to the edge.

TIME SET
When the AC cord is connected for the first time, the time
flashes in the display. Set the current time, and you can use the unit as a clock. The unit displays the time regardless of the position of FUNCTION (applicable when the AC cord is connected).

This is caused by a power interruption. The current time
needs to be reset and the batteries need to be replaced to
back up the clock.
Radio or CD play can be turned off automatically at a designated time.

~ Press SLEEP repeatedly to select the time until
the power is turned off.

Press SLEEP once. The remaining time is displayed for 5 seconds. To shorten the time, press the button repeatedly.
To cancel the sleep timer
Press SLEEP repeatedly until OFF is displayed. Switching POWER also cancels the sleep timer.
NOTE
The timer does not function on battery power supply.

Radio, CD or buzzer automatically sounds at the designated
time.
In addition, you can set two different times, one in TIMER 1
and one in TIMER 2, so that ‘the timer operates twice a day.
Make sure the clock is set correctly.

Set POWER to ON. Prepare the source.
To listen to a CD, set FUNCTION to CD and load
a disc (See page 6).
To listen to the radio,
set FUNCTION to FM or
AM and tune to a station (See page 7).
To make the buzzer sound,
set FUNCTION to
BUZZER.
Press TIMER repeatedly so that the TIMER indicator (1 or 2) lights up.

Press HOUR and MINUTE to adjust the timer-on time, then press TIMER to designate it.
Set
POWER to TIMER.
The display returns to the current time and the TIMER indicator remains (timer standby
mode).
To check the timer-on time
Press TIMER once. The designated time is displayed for 5 seconds (except when both the TIMER 1 and 2 indicators light up).
To stop the sound
Set POWER to O STANDBY or press SNOOZE. When SNOOZE is pressed, the sound will automatically come on again after 5 minutes.
To stop CD play, press 9 before setting POWER to O
STANDBY.
If you do not stop it manually, TIMER 1 will turn off
automatically after 60 minutes and TIMER 2 will turn off after 90 minutes.
To set the timer to sound twice a day 1 Set
two times in TIMER 1 and 2 respectively referring to steps 1 to 4 above. You cannot set different sources.

Ycw can fall asleep listening to the radio or CD play and still be awakened by the alarm sound at a preset time. Acljust the time of the alarm timer and sleep timer, then set
POWER to TIMER. nl cancel onlv the alarm timer, set POWER to ON and press TIMER repeatedly until OFF is displayed. Then set the sleep timer again.
NOTE
\fVhen the alarm times set on TIMER 1 and 2 are the same,
the alarm timer functions once at the preset time.
oThe alarm timer will not begin if the power is turned on.
The buzzer volume is fixed and cannot be adjusted with
\/OLUME.
The timer does not function on battery power supply.

Press CD OPEN to open the disc compartment and place a disc with the printed side down on the disc compartment
lid. Then close the disc compartment.
NOTE – Do not place smaller 3-inch (8 cm) discs.
Total number of tracks is displayed for 5 seconds.
Press *II to start play.
The number of the track being played is displayed for 5 seconds.
Turn VOLUME to adjust the sound.

REPEAT – Repeats a single track or all tracks. Press the

The REPEAT indicator flashes: A single track is played
repeatedly. Select a track with I-4+ or W.
The REPEAT indicator lights up: All tracks are played
repeatedly. The REPEAT indicator disappears: Repeat play is canceled.
