SIM card and battery

To insert SIM card and battery

1 Remove the battery cover.

2Slide the SIM card into its holder with the contacts facing down.

3Insert the battery with the label side up and the connectors facing each other.

4 Slide the battery cover into place.

To charge the battery

1Connect the charger plug to the phone with the symbol facing upwards.

2It may take up to 30 minutes before the battery icon appears.

3Wait approximately 2.5 hours or until the battery icon indicates a full charge. Press a key to activate the screen.

4Remove the charger by tilting the plug upwards.

Turning on your phone

Make sure the phone is charged and a SIM card inserted before turning it on. After turning on, use the setup wizard to quickly and easily prepare for use.

To turn on the phone

1Press and hold . The first start-up may take a few minutes.

2 Select to use the phone in:

•Normal mode – full functionality or

•Flight mode – limited functionality with network, FM radio, Bluetooth™

transceivers off.

3 Enter your SIM card PIN, if requested.

4At first start-up, select the language for your phone menus.

5 } Yes for the setup wizard to help you. 6 Follow instructions to complete setup.

If predefined settings exist in your phone, you may not need more settings. If asked to register the phone at

Sony Ericsson, no personal data, such as your phone number, will be transferred to or processed by

Sony Ericsson if you accept to register your phone.

Flight mode menu

The Flight mode menu is activated by default. Select from Normal mode with full functionality or Flight mode with limited functionality. Network, radio and Bluetooth transceivers are turned off to prevent disturbance

to sensitive equipment. You can, for example, play music but not make calls in an aeroplane.

Follow onboard regulations, flight crew instructions for use of electronic devices.

Help in your phone

Help and information are available in your phone at any time.

To use the setup wizard

} Settings } the General tab } Setup wizard and select an option:

•Settings download or

•Basic setup or

•Tips and tricks.

Scroll to a function } More } Information, if available.

Your personal Web page

Publish your pictures on a Web page. The phone creates the Web page

for you.

To blog a photo

1 Take a photo } More } Blog this.

2Follow the instructions for first time use.

3 Add title and text } OK } Publish.

4You will receive a text message with your Web address and log-in data.

Make and receive calls

The phone must be in normal mode. If the phone is in flight mode, restart the phone and select Normal mode.

To make and receive calls

Enter a phone number (with international prefix and area code

if applicable) } Call to make the call. } End call to end the call.

To receive a call

When the phone rings } Answer or } Busy to reject the call.

To end a call

} End call.

Keypad lock

Lock the keypad to avoid dialling a number by accident.

Calls to the international emergency number 112 can still be made, even when the keypad is locked.

To set the automatic keylock

}Settings } the General tab

}Security } Automatic keylock.

To lock the keypad manually

The keypad automatically locks when you close the phone. You can still answer an incoming call and the keypad locks again after the call. The keypad remains locked until

you unlock it manually.

To unlock the keypad manually

From standby, press any key } Unlock

} OK.

Memory Stick PRO Duo™

Your phone supports Memory Stick PRO Duo™ memory card adding more storage space to your phone to save files containing pictures or music,

for example.

To insert and remove a memory card

1 Open the cover and insert as shown.

2 Press the edge to release and remove.

Navigation

Navigation keys

The main menus are shown as icons. Some submenus include tabs. Scroll to a tab by pressing the navigation key left or right and selecting an option.

Key

Go to the main menus or to select highlighted items.

Press to start and stop music when using the WALKMAN.

Move through the menus and tabs.

Select options shown immediately above these keys on the screen.

Go back one level in the menus.

Press and hold to return to standby or to end a function.

Delete items, such as pictures, sounds and contacts.

During a call, press and hold to mute the microphone.

Open the browser.

Open the activity menu % 17 Activity menu.

Open or minimize the WALKMAN.

Press to take a picture or record a video clip.

Press and hold to call your voicemail service (if set).

Press and hold any of these keys to reach a contact beginning with

a specific letter.

		Turn off the ringtone when receiving a call.
		Turn off the ringtone when receiving a call.
		Press and hold to set the phone to silent. The alarm signals even
		if the phone is set to silent.

		View status information in standby.
		Increase the volume during a call, or when using the WALKMAN.
		Zoom out when using the camera or viewing pictures.
		Press and hold to go back one track.
		Press twice to reject a call.
		Press and hold to voice dial, alternatively say your magic word
		(if set).

		Decrease the volume during a call, or when using the WALKMAN.

		Zoom in when using the camera or viewing pictures.
		Press and hold to go forward one track.
		Press and hold to voice dial, alternatively say your magic word
		(if set).

		Use left or right photo keys to view camera album pictures from


		standby, for full or thumbnail views.
