MARINER H2O SPEAKERS
Congratulations on your choice of the Sonance® Mariner High Output speakers. The H2O is the ideal speaker for applications requiring the high fidelity and ruggedness of the Mariner series, with extended low frequency response, extended input sensitivity, and greater power handling ability. Both the 1" cloth dome tweeter and twin 5-1/4" polypropylene woofers are magnetically shielded for freedom of placement.Optimum sound coverage of any area is easily achieved with fewer speakers thanks to the H2O’s high output and convenient multi-pivot bracket system.
Sonance also offers the largest selection of high fidelity in-wall/ in-ceiling speakers in the world, as well as a wide variety of products for custom home and commercial installations. Visit the Sonance World Wide Web site at http://www.sonance.com or your authorized dealer for more information on the extensive range of speakers, amplifiers, and custom installation products available from Sonance.
GETTING THE MOST FROM YOUR MARINER H2O SPEAKERS
When properly installed and mated with other high fidelity components, your H2Os will provide many years of entertainment pleasure. To realize the full potential of your new speakers, please read all instructions before starting the installation process.
Careful placement of your H2O speakers will allow listeners to enjoy the full frequency response the speakers offer. With the flexibility to mount on poles, walls, or railings, you can take advantage of a range of installation options.
Remember that the high frequency drivers (in the center of the enclosure) must be at or above the ear level of listeners to retain the full sound spectrum. Consider if listeners will be seated or standing, then mount the H2Os where they will not be obscured.
Use quality speaker wire to permit the H2Os to achieve their full sonic potential. Select oxygen-free Sonance Gold, Silver, or Bronze MediaLinQ®plenum cable as appropriate to your installation. We recommend 18-gauge wire for runs of less than 50 feet, 16-gauge for runs of 50-100 feet, and 14-gauge for runs over 100 feet.

SPEAKER PLACEMENT
Your H2O speakers has the same versatility as the other Mariner series speakers. This includes the use of a specially designed C-mounting bracket that allows for flush-fit installations in areas that are not readily accessible (under eaves, corners, etc. See Diagram 2).
Indoor usage can include, but is not limited to a subwoofer/ satellite system. The H2O is ideally suited because of its smooth crossover points and wide tonal range. The MC center channel would greatly complement the use of the H2O as left/right/surround channels. As with any home theater or music listening environment, the H2O is ideally placed with the tweeter aimed at the listener's ear level.

CONNECT SPEAKER WIRE
IMPORTANT: Do not attempt to connect speakers to any source (amplifier, receiver) that is turned on. Check to assure that the amplifier designated to power the speakers is OFF before attempting connection.
Strip 1/2" of insulation from each speaker wire. Attach the positive conductor to the red(+) 5-way binding post and the negative wire to the black(–) post. The posts on your H2O will accept up to 14-gauge wire. To connect, loosen the nut on the binding post until the hole in the post is visible. Twist the stripped end of the wire and insert through the hole, then snug the nut.Do not over tighten. Wire may be optionally terminated with banana plugs, or soldered or crimped spade lugs. Finally, connect the + and - leads to the designated terminals on your amplifier or receiver(See Diagram 3).
NOTE: Polarity of wiring is critical. All positive leads (+) must be attached to red connectors throughout the system.
PAINTING THE H2O
All Mariner series speakers feature a tough polypropylene finish that may be painted to color match your surroundings. For outdoor installations, use a weather resistant outdoor paint.
First, remove the grille by carefully prying it away from the baffle. Always protect the driver components from paint when spraying. To create protective insert, trace the grille on a piece of cardboard or foam board, then cut just inside the line. Place the resulting “paint pluginside the baffle during painting. Do not use the speaker with the plug in place.
The aluminum grille may also be painted. Use very thin paint (5:1 dilution) to avoid plugging the holes. Remove the grille from the speaker to avoid damaging the drivers during painting.
COMMERCIAL APPLICATIONS
The Mariner H2O can be pole-mounted for certain outdoor and commercial applications(see diagram 4). With the implementation of stainless steel hardware (U-bolts, washers, nuts not included), the H2O mounting system can withstand the rigors of outdoor use.
CARE AND MAINTENANCE
1. Do not use liquid or aerosol cleaners on the speakers.
2. To clean your speakers, wipe the grilles with a soft cloth dampened
with water. You may remove the grilles to wash and dry them. The baffle and drivers may be dusted by gentle use of canned air commonly used to clean cameras and computer equipment.
3. Sine wave test tones can damage your H2O and should only be used
at low volume levels for short periods.
4. Do not expose your H2O to construction dust, dirt, or airborne
paint particles. If the area in which your speakers are installed is subject to potentially damaging airborne particles, you may remove the grilles, temporarily cover them with paper or plastic food wrap, then replace them over the speakers.Be sure to remove this protective cover after the dirty activity is complete and the room is thoroughly cleaned.
