Auto Return
You can program your typewriter to automatically return at the end of each line. When a space or hyphen is typed in the “warning zone,” which begins five spaces before the right margin, the carrier automatically returns to the next line. For lengthy words falling at the end of the line, simply type a hyphen as you normally would and the carrier returns automatically. To activate Auto Return:
1. Press Code + Return (1). The unit beeps, and the display prompts:
Auto Return ON
2. Type text. Do not press Return at the end of a line.

Corrections
The typewriter can automatically correct all characters in a one-line memory buffer. You can easily correct characters not in the correction memory buffer by performing an extra step (see “Off-Line Correction”).
If End of Page is activated, remember to use Index Up/Index Down, Return, Back Space, and Spacebar when positioning the print hammer to make a correction. If you use the platen knob, the line count may be inaccurate.
IMPORTANT: If you changed printwheels, be sure to insert the
proper printwheel before making corrections.
IMPORTANT: When correcting Bold or Underscore characters, you
must reactivate Bold and/or Underscore before turning on the correction feature or correction will not occur.
Erasing Character(s) in Correction Memory
1. Position the print hammer on the incorrect character, then press
Correct. Hold down to continue erasing characters to the left. Do not use the platen knob to position the print hammer.
2. Type the correction.
3. Press Code + Reloc (Return) to quickly return to your previous
typing position, if necessary.
NOTE: You erase correction memory when you press Return,

Character Swap
®
Character Swap allows you to correct transposed letters that are in correction memory or on the current line of text. This feature is inactive when typing text in a special field (e.g., Auto Center) or during List and AutoSpell.
1. Position the print hammer on the second of the two characters to be swapped (the print hammer must be on the character, not the space following the character). For example, to correct “teh,” the print hammer must be on the “h.”
2. Press Code + (period). The character currently selected will be swapped with the preceding one.
The print hammer relocates immediately to the right of the swapped characters.
NOTE: Character Swap will transpose lower case and upper case
letters without changing the case; Character Swap also will swap bolded and underlined characters, retaining the enhancements to them.

Word Swap
®
Word Swap allows you to reverse the order of adjacent words on a line within correction memory.
Words that are transposed must be separated by a space. Characters such as hyphens (-) and apostrophes (’) are considered part of a word. Upper and lower case characters in a word are not changed. Word Swap will swap bolded and underlined characters, retaining the enhancements to the character.
If you use any other symbol between words (such as a number or punctuation), you will get an error message. Also, words in Word Swap
, ,
cannot be longer than 25 characters, or the display will prompt:
WORD TOO LONG
1. Position the print hammer on any character in the second of the two words to be swapped. For example, in the sentence “This House Old,” to swap the words “House” and “Old,” position the print hammer on “Old.”
2. Press Code + (Comma). The word currently selected will be swapped with the preceding one. In the example above, “House Old” will become “Old House.”
The print hammer relocates after the right-most word (House).

Half Space
The Half Space feature can be used to make corrections no longer in correction memory. When the Half Space feature is activated, the typing position moves a half space to accommodate correct character spacing. Regular spacing returns when the Half Space feature is deactivated.
Before activating the Half Space feature on another line, you have to remove the error using off-line correction procedures. (See “Off-Line Correction.”)
NOTE: When you activate the Half Space feature, the character
correction memory is erased. The typewriter remembers the half spaced characters until the Half Space feature is deactivated. Then, the typewriter begins to remember normal spaced characters again.
