The Smart Temp 44-101 is a precision manufactured Heat Only Touch Screen Thermostat that offers many advanced
capabilities. Please take time to read and understand these
instructions as if properly understood the 44-101 will prove to
be a reliable thermostat controller.

Manual Mode
In this mode, simply turn the thermostat On or OFF as desired by tapping the mode button in the lower right of the LCD. When heat mode is selected the 44-101 will activate the heating system to bring the room to the desired set point, once the set point is reached it will then turn the heating system off.
To set your desired temperature, tap the temperature display and then adjust your desired heating set temperature with the Up or Down button. Tap the temperature again or wait to exit this adjustment window. Your new heat set point is in place.
Battery Replacement
Your 44-101 thermostat operates on 2 AAA Alkaline batteries. To swap the batteries simply press the small door on the upper right side of the case in and the battery compartment will pop out about 15mm. Remove the battery tray by sliding it fully out, replace the batteries and reinsert the battery tray back into the thermostat. Press until you hear a click and the battery tray locks in.
Batteries will last approximately 1 year depending on use. A low battery symbol will flash on the display when the batteries need replacing.
Back light
The 44-101 uses a LED back light to assist using the thermostat in dark environments. When ever you first touch the 44-101 the back light will come on and stay on for approximately 20 seconds after the last touch of the thermostat.
Clean
When you first touch the 44-101 a”Clean” button will be shown on the display. Pressing the “Clean” button will diable the touch screen functions for 30 seconds so that you may wipe or clean the touch screen without effecting any settings. The display will show a countdown during this time.
Covers
Optional decorative covers can be purchased to enhance the appearance of the 44-101 thermostat. These are available in a wide selection of colours and simply snap on to frame the thermostat. The image above shows the 44-101 with a brushed aluminium looking cover.

Modes - Overview
The 44-101 is able to be operated as a manual thermostat for those not requiring automatic time clock controlled temperature regulation, or as an advanced thermostat that permits the user to pre­set times and temperatures into the 44-101 for automatic control.
Programmable Mode.
Clock It is essential that the real time clock is set correctly if the 44-101 is to be used in programmable mode. To set the clock tap the clock in the top Left of the LCD. The day will flash, adjust with the Up / Down button. Tap the clock again and the hours flash, adjust with the Up / Down button. Tap the clock again and now the minutes flash, adjust with the Up / Down button. Tap the clock again or wait to exit this menu.
Programming Depending on the options set by your installer these instructions may vary. Press and hold the program button to enter the programming menu. The day (or group of days) will flash, set the day you wish to begin programming or edit. Tap the program button again and either Morning or Day will be shown with the hour flashing for the selected day (or group of days), use the Up / Down button to adjust the hour you wish the displayed event to start. Tap the program button again and the minute will flash, adjust the minute that you wish this event to start, tap the program button again to adjust the active or desired set temperature that you wish at the time you have just set.
Note- If you require the thermostat to switch off at your desired program set your temperature to 7 DegC or “--”.
Continue to tap the program button to advanced through the hour, minute and desired temperature for events for the rest of the day. Once you have completed a days programming you are given the option to copy this program to other days by pressing the Up or Down button to the highlight the days you wish to copy to. Press the program button the begin the copy process. Program hold Should you wish to suspend the program for what ever reason, simply tap the program button and the current event (morning, day evening or night) will disappear and be replaced with the word HOLD. The current set temperature will be held until to tap the hold button again to cancel the hold and resume the program. You are permitted to adjust a held programs temperature however this adjustment will be lost and replaced with the pre-programmed temperature when you exit program hold mode.
Temporary Override At anytime you are able to just adjust your desired temperature by tapping the temperature and using the Up or Down button. The current event indicator will flash to indicate the program is temporarily overridden. This new set temperature will automatically expire in 2 hours.

Advanced Options
The 44-101 thermo stat is a heat in g o nly thermostat. It has been fitted with a volt free relay with change over contacts rated at 240V, 8 Amp maximum.
Installing the thermostat is a simple process.
Open the thermostat by placing a flat blade in the two slots at the base of the thermostat and gently pry apart. Take care not to twist the case excessively as this may damage the display.
Mount the baseplate level o n t he w a l l , passing the equipment wiring through the hole in the centre of the thermostat base. Use the supplied screws to mount the base to the wall.
Please note that the equipment wiring shows 5 terminals however only 3 are used. Two terminals shown as “X” in the diagram above have no connection)
Equipment Terminals Com terminal is the relay Common, voltage applied to this terminal
will be switch out. This input will accept 240V up to 8 Amps.
NO terminal is the terminal that is OPEN when no heating has been called. This terminal is usually wired to the equipment heat call terminal or to open a heating valve.
NC terminal is the terminal that is CLOSED when no heating is called. This terminal is usually used to drive a heating valve closed.
X Terminal has no connection and is used to maintain a safe distance between the other three terminals.
Sensor terminals Com terminal is the common terminal for both the outside and
remote temperature senors.
In terminal is the indoor remote (or averaging) sensor terminal
Out terminal is the outside air temperature sensor terminal.

The Smart temp 44-101 thermostat has an advanced installer menu that permits you to tune the performance of the thermostat to suit the specific needs of your customer.
To enter this menu, press and hold the top left (Clock) and bottom right (mode) of the thermostat. The display will change and show the first option in the installer menu. Advance forward through the menu by pressing the Mode button, move backwards through the menu by pressing the Fan button, and adjust the menu options with the Up/Down buttons. To exit the menu wait, or press and hold the MODE button.
1:PR Sets the number of daily programming events.
4 - Morning - Day - Evening - Night. 2 - Day - Night . 0 -Manual (no temperature programming).
2:Pd Sets Programming method.
7 - 7 day individual programming. 5 + 2. Weekday / weekend block programming.
5:Lc Sets the key lock to prevent tampering
OFF = All Functions Unlocked. 1 = Program Locked 2 = Mode Locked. 4 = UP / DOWN Arrows Locked. 5 = Clock Locked 7 = Program & Mode Locked. 8 = Program / Mode / Clock Locked. 9 = All Functions Locked.
7:HL Heating limit.
Sets the maximum permitted user heating set temperature.
8:Td Temperature Display
Sets deg C or deg F display modes.
9:CL Clock
Sets the clock mode. 12 or 24 hour.
10:St Show (set) Temperature
Turns the set temperature display ON or OFF.
11:BL Back light
Turns the back light function On or OFF.
12:rc Recovery
Enables adaptive recovery that starts the heating prior to the program time so that the temperature is at the correct value at the programmed time.
14:Sp Span
Sets how far below the set point the heating turns on.
15:CA Calibration
Permits the temperature sensor to be calibrated by up to +/- 5c on 0.1c increments.
16:TT Temperature Terminal
Sets the remote Temperature Terminal function. RS - replace the onboard sensor with the remote sensor. AV - Average the onboard sensor and remote sensor.
20:Bp Beeper
Turns the onboard beeper on or off.
21:Rs Reset
Forces the 44-101 to default to factory settings. Set to on then exit the menu to enable the forced factory reset.

Outside air or inside remote sensors can be fitted to the 44-101. Smart temp offer a range of remote sensors for this application. The sensors are automatically detected by the 44-101 when installed.
