Flow Rate Guide

Select the fl ow rate that will provide the desired 50% cut-point to capture the
particle size of interest.

15 L/min is recommended as an optimal fl ow rate.

Sampling Interval Guide

Following are recommended sampling times for specifi c dust conditions.

1. Select a fl ow rate (see Flow Rate Guide on back) and calibrate pump fl ow rate.

Casse es do not produce signifi cant back pressure, therefore, it is

not necessary to calibrate fl ow with a casse e in line.

2. Remove and retain sealing tabs from casse e inlet and outlet.

3. Connect casse e outlet to pump inlet.

a. Direct method: If pump accommodates direct mounting, insert casse e

adapter into pump inlet and push casse e outlet onto bowl end of
adapter.

b. Indirect method: Use 1/2-in ID tubing to connect casse e outlet to pump

inlet.

4. Turn on sample pump and sample for appropriate sampling time. See

Sampling Interval Guide on back.

5. When sampling is complete, turn off pump, remove casse e, and reseal with
sealing tabs.

6. Place sample casse es, outdoor background samples, non-complaint
area samples, and blanks in a corrugated box and ship to a laboratory for
analysis.

SKC recommends reducing length of sampling time when using a
30 L/min fl ow rate to prevent overloading.
