Method & Chemical: MDHS 25/3 (U.K.) for Organic Isocyanates; PI, TDI,
HDI, MDI.

Filter & Coating: 25-mm glass fi ber fi lter coated with 1-(2-methoxyphenyl)
piperazine. Filters only, not loaded in casse es

Prior to Sampling: Store at ≤ 39.2 F (4 C) for up to 6 months.

Sample Stability: Store TDI at ≤ 39.2 F (4 C) for up to 90 days. No data is

available for PI, HDI, and MDI.

1. Set up the sampling train for calibration with the representative fi lter
casse e in line. For “closed-face” sampling, remove the plugs and connect
the casse e to the sampling train. For “open-face” sampling, remove the outlet
plug and the casse e inlet section then connect the casse e to the sampling
train. For details on se ing up a sampling train, refer to the SKC Sample Setup
Guide “Sampling Train - Filters and Cyclones” (SKC Publication 1166).

2. Calibrate the pump to the desired fl ow rate using a fi lm fl owmeter or
calibrated precision rotameter. For details on calibrating a pump, refer to the
SKC Sample Setup Guide “Calibrating a Pump Using a Film Flowmeter” (SKC
Publication 1163).

3. Replace the casse e used for calibration with a fresh fi lter casse e for
sample collection. Attach the cassette to a worker’s collar, as close to the
breathing zone as possible, by using a fi lter casse e holder (SKC Cat. No.
225-1). Sample for the specifi ed time interval and record the time.

4. Remove the fi lter casse e at the end of the specifi ed sampling period and
replace both end plugs (and the inlet if necessary). Recheck the fl ow rate using
the same casse e and fl owmeter used for calibration (in Step 2) to ensure that
the fl ow rate has not changed by more than 5%.

5. Store sample at ≤ 39.2 F (4 C) for up to 90 days. Appropriately package
samples, blanks, and all pertinent data to send to a lab for analysis. Expedite
shipping of samples to laboratory. Friday shipments are not recommended.
