Surface Swab Kit
Cat. No. 225-2402
To the trained investigator, gross
contamination of building materials
is usually self-evident. However, it
is o en useful to sample materials to
demonstrate the presence of elevated
levels, determine the relative degree
and type of biological contamination
in an area, and to verify remediation
procedures.
The Surface Swab Kit provides all the
necessary supplies to sample surfaces
for bioaerosols that are deposited
through contact or that se le out of
the air onto surfaces where they can
be re-aerosolized and inhaled. This non-destructive method can be safely used on
most surfaces and materials. Rayon tip is inert, non-toxic, and permits good sample
retrieval and adsorption. Send samples to a qualifi ed laboratory for analysis.
Surface Swab Kit contains 10 sterile swabs in transport
tubes and 10 plastic templates (5 x 10 cm)
Operation
1. Remove the sterile swab from its package aseptically.
2. Remove the sealing cap from the tube containing the sponge. Insert the swab
into the tube and moisten the swab tip by pushing it gently into the sponge.
3. Remove the swab from the tube. Using a rolling motion with the swab, gently
swab the desired area thoroughly. Templates are included in the kit for defi ned
area sampling.
4. Insert the swab into the tube, replace the sealing cap, and prepare for transport
to a laboratory.
