Return the tuner to your authorized retailer

INSTALL THE WIRING SO THAT IT
IS NOT CRIMPED OR PINCHED BY
SCREWS OR SHARP METAL EDGES.
Route the cables away from moving parts
or sharp pointed edges. This will prevent
crimping and damage to the wiring. If the
wiring must pass through a metal hole, be
sure to use a rubber grommet to prevent
the wire’s insulation from being cut by the
metal edge of the hole.
USE THE SPECIFIED ACCESSORY
PARTS AND INSTALL THE PRODUCT
SECURELY. Be sure to use only the
specied accessory parts. Use of nonspecied parts may damage this unit
internally or may not securely install the
unit in place. This may cause parts to
become loose, resulting in hazards or
product failure.

It is recommended that prior to starting
the installation, you read this installation
section completely and follow the
instructions. In addition, consult the manual
of the audio device to which you will be
connecting the SC-H1 Tuner to determine
the required installation conguration:
• If power for the SC-H1 Tuner is not
provided by your audio device via the
DIN cable connection, you will need to
use the provided AC Power Adapter to
provide power for the SC-H1 Tuner.
• If audio input from the SC-H1 Tuner
is not suported via the DIN cable
connection of your audio device,
you will need to connect the audio
output of the SC-H1 Tuner to your
audio system via the RCA-type or
Optical audio output connectors of the
tuner. (You will need to purchase the
appropriate cable separately.)
Mounting the SC-H1 Tuner
Consider the mounting location carefully to
be sure that you avoid the following:
• Any location where the tuner is
exposed to moisture.
• Any location where the tuner is
exposed to extreme heat.
The tuner may be mounted on a wall
with #10 screws, using the slots on the
underside of the tuner to hang on the tuner
on the screws. Alternately, the tuner may
placed on any at surface.
Installing the Antenna
Proper installation of the windowsill
antenna is important for consistent satellite
signal reception.
For correct operation and best reception of
the SIRIUS signal, it is important that the

antenna is located in a place where it will
have a clear view of the SIRIUS satellites
in the sky. Obstructions such as bushes,
trees, other homes or buildings, overhangs,
softs, chimneys, gables, dormers, etc.,
will impair or prevent the antenna from
receiving a signal.
The best reception is obtained if the
antenna is located outside, and where
the pod portion of the antenna (where the
SIRIUS logo is printed) has a clear 360
degree view of the sky.
If you cannot obtain a clear 360 degree
view of the sky outdoors, or you will be
locating the antenna indoors, then you will
need to place the antenna in a window (or
outdoor location) which has a clear view
of the sky in the direction of the satellites,
and aim the antenna in the direction of the
satellites, as shown in the diagram on the
previous page.
Use the map in the diagram on the
previous page to nd the area in which you
are located (1 to 5). Then nd the direction
in which you need to have a window (or
outdoor location) with a clear view of the
sky:
Area 1: You will need a window/location
with a clear view of the sky
facing EAST or NORTHEAST or
SOUTHEAST
Area 2: You will need a window/location
with a clear view of the sky facing
NORTH or NORTHEAST
Area 3: You will need a window/location
with a clear view of the sky facing
NORTH or NORTHWEST
Area 4: You will need a window/location
with a clear view of the sky facing
WEST or NORTHWEST or
SOUTHWEST
Area 5: You will need a clear view of

the sky facing STRAIGHT UP
(Antenna cannot be located
indoors)
For example, suppose you live in Area
2. You determined that your antenna
will need to have a window (or outdoor
location) with a clear view of the sky facing
North or Northeast. The exact direction
is determined by your specic location in
Area 2 relative to the X on the map; If you
live in Texas, you will need a more North
facing clear view of the sky whereas if you
live in southern California, you will need a
more Northeast facing clear view of the
sky.
(In major US cities, you may be able to
receive the SIRIUS signal from the SIRIUS
ground repeaters, which would allow you to
place the antenna away from a window if
the signal is strong enough.)
When you have installed the antenna in a
suitable location, check the signal strength
display of your SIRIUS-ready receiver to
verify that you are receiving a suitable
signal. (Consult the user guide of your
specic receiver for instructions on how
to access the signal strength display.)
A minimum of 3 bars of either satellite
(SAT) or terrestrial (TER) signal strength
is required for consistent reception. If you
are not obtaining at least three bars, try
adjusting the antenna by changing the
aiming in small increments to see if you can
obtain better signal reception.

If the tuner loses reception at times, this
is indication that the antenna is not aimed
in the optimal direction. Try adjusting
the antenna by changing the aiming in
small increments to see if you can obtain
consistent signal reception.
If you are having trouble locating your
antenna in a place for optimal signal
reception, please visit your retailer or our
website http://sirius.com for information
on signal distribution accessories that let
you use RG6 coax cable, your existing
in-home wiring, and other technologies to
connect your SC-H1 Tuner to the antenna.
These other options allow for placement of
the antenna with the best view of the sky
regardless of the location of your SC-H1
Tuner.
Wiring the SC-H1 Tuner
The SC-H1 Tuner should be wired as
shown in the diagram below, using the
supplied DIN cable.
Note that the AC Power Adapter is used
only when your SIRIUS-ready receiver
does not supply power to the tuner via the
DIN cable connection. Also, if your SIRIUSready receiver does not support audio
input via the DIN cable connection, then
the audio output may be connected to your
sound system using the RCA-type audio
connections, or the optical cable link on the
tuner.
Please consult your audio equipment
manuals for the wiring connections needed
for the SC-H1 Tuner to operate with your
particular equipment.
Activating Your SIRIUS Subscription
You must activate the SC-H1 Tuner before
you can begin to receive the SIRIUS
Satellite Radio service.
In order to activate your radio subscription,
you will need the SIRIUS ID (SID) which
uniquely identies your tuner. The SID may
be found on a sticker located on the SC-H1
packaging, or on the bottom of the tuner
itself. The label will have printed on it a 12digit SID number. When you have located
the SID, write it down in the space provided
near the end of this manual.

Once the subscription process is
completed, your SC-H1 Tuner is ready

Operation
Consult the owners manual of your
SIRIUS-ready receiver for operating
instructions.
The SC-H1 Tuner has an indicator light
which provides basic status information
about the tuner. When the tuner is rst
powered on, this light will be red to indicate
the tuner is receiving power. After the initial
power-on indication, the light will provide
the following status information:
Steady Red: Initial power-on indication.
Flashing Red: Indicates that the antenna
is not connected to the Tuner.
Steady Amber: Indicates that the antenna
is connected to the Tuner, but no signal
is being received.
Steady Green: Indicates that the Tuner is
functioning properly and receiving a
