Be sure to observe the following warnings. Failure to follow these sa fety instructions and
warnings ma y result in a serious accident and/or personal injury.
Installatio n must be performed according to this installation guide. SIRIUS® is not res pon-

sible for i ssues arising from installations not performed according t o the procedures in this
guide.
Do not inst all the unit where it may hinder the function of safety de vices such as an airbag.

Doing so ma y prevent the airbag from functioning properly in the even t of an accident.
To avoid sh ort circuits, do not open the unit, and never put or leave any metallic obj ects

(coins, too ls, etc.) inside the unit.
If the unit emits smoke or unusual odors, turn the power off immediat ely, and disconne ct

The followi ng item is included with your purchase of the SIRIUS FM Di rect Adapter. Unp ack it
carefully a nd make sure that everything shown is present. If anything is missing or da maged,
or if the d evice fails to operate properly, notify your dealer immedi ately. It is reco mmended
that you re tain the original carton and packing materials in case you need to ship you r FM
Direct Adap ter in the future.

Getting Started
The FM Dire ct Adapter directly connects the FM signal from your SIRIU S radio to your
vehicle’s A M/FM radio, reducing any interference which might be prese nt from FM radio station broadc asts. When the SIRIUS radio is turned off, the vehicle’s F M antenna is auto matically conne cted back to the vehicle’s AM/FM radio. The adapter connec ts directly in-li ne with
the vehicle ’s existing AM/FM antenna input.
The SIRIUS FM Direct Adapter is designed to work with SIRIUS Satellit e plug and play r adios
such as SIR IUS One™, Starmate™ Replay, and InV™, and with vehicle doc ks for plug and p lay
radios such as Sportster™, Starmate 3, Starmate 4, S50™, Stratus™, an d Stiletto™.
SIRIUS sugg ests professional installation of this product in your veh icle. Ask your SI RIUS
retailer if they provide professional installation services, or can r ecommend a profes sional
installatio n service.

Installation
Considerations
Certain veh icle models will require adapters to connect the vehicle’s AM/FM antenna to the
FM Direct A dapter, and to connect the FM Direct Adapter to the vehicl e’s AM/FM radio. Your
SIRIUS reta iler may sell these adapters, or a professional installer may be able to pr ovide
them.
Vehicle Installation
To install the FM Direct Adapter in your vehicle, refer to Figures 1 & 2 and follow th ese steps:
Remove the vehicle’s AM/FM radio from the dash and disconnect the veh icle’s AM/FM

antenna cab le from the rear of the radio.
Plug the FM antenna cable from the FM Direct Adapter into the same co nnector on

vehicle’s A M/FM radio. (An additional adapter may be required.)
Plug the ve hicle’s AM/FM antenna cable (which was disconnected from t he vehicle’s

AM/FM radio ) into the female FM antenna socket of the FM Direct Adapt er. (An additional ad apter may be required.)
Plug the mi ni-connector of the FM Direct Adapter into the FM O UT conn ection on your

SIRIUS radi o (for radios without a vehicle dock), or into the FM OUT connection on you r
SIRIUS vehi cle dock (for radios with a vehicle dock).
Choose a ch annel on the FM band of the vehicle’s AM/FM radio that has little or no

reception f rom a local FM station. You can consult the SIRIUS website at http:/ /www.
siri us.com/ fmc hannel for more information on finding a clear FM chann el in your area.
Choose the same channel from the FM Frequency menu of your SIRIUS rad io. (Refer to

the user gu ide of your SIRIUS radio for more details.)
If the inst allation is successful, you should hear the SIRIUS broadca sts through the v ehicle’s
AM/FM radio .

material or workman ship within 12 months from the da te o f original purchase, s uch defect( s) will be
repaired or replace d with new or recondit ione d produ ct ( at the Comp any’s optio n) without charge for
parts an d repair la bor. To obt ain repair or r eplacem ent within the terms of th is Warranty , the produ ct
is to be delivered with proof of warranty cov erage ( e.g. dated bill of sale), specificati on of defec t(s),
transpor tation prep aid, to the location s hown below unde r WARRANTY RETURN.
This War ranty does not extend to the elim inat ion of exte rnally gene rated stati c or noise, to correct ion
of anten na problems , to costs incurred fo r in stallat ion, removal or reinstalla tion of the product, o r to
damage t o tapes, co mpact discs , speakers, acc essorie s, o r vehicle e lectrical s ystems.
This War ranty does not apply t o any produ ct o r part ther eof which, in the opin ion of the Company,
has suff ered or bee n damaged t hrough alte rati on, imp rope r installat ion, mishan dling, misu se, neglect ,
accident , or by rem oval or def acement of the factory ser ial number/ bar code la bel(s). THE EXTENT
