General note 1
The electronic scrap regulation described in ISO 14000 requires manufacturers of electronic systems and units to dispose of hazardous substances in their units and systems,
the disposal of hazardous substances in the unit and also when replacing problematic
substances during operation.
The product-related list of hazardous substances on Page 2 - 1 of this instruction gives
you an outline concerning parts and components that have to be disposed of. The disposal notes and the graphics on Page 2 - 1 will help you find problematic substances in
the system.
The disposal notes of the present instructions are valid when scrapping a unit replacing
environmentally relevant components and parts.

• The product-specific safe ty information contained in this do cument, as well as the
general safety information must be observed.

CAUTION
Switch OFF the entire system when working on the DIGISCAN M
system and ensure that it cannot be switched on inadvertently
during the procedure.
Laser safety 1
• When working with an open laser, the leather gl oves and laser safety glasses must be
worn.
• Non-reflecting tools must be used.

Acquisition workstation 3
• Hand the complete LCD monitor to Fujitsu Si emens for recycling.
• Hand the complete computer to an appropriat e recycling company.
• The cables contain PVC and should be disposed of accordingl y.
• Plastic parts of the SIMOMED monitor (optio n) contain arsenic/arsenid and cadmium.
Barcode scanner 3
The barcode scanner can be handled as normal electronic waste.
MOD drive (option) 3
The MOD drive (option) can be handled as normal electronic waste.
Image reader 3
Disassemble the image reader by removing the covers and the erasure lamp assembly.
• The erasure lamps (see Fuji Service Manual FCR 5000MA plus f or location) contain
mercury and should be disposed of according ly.

• Remove the lithium battery on CPU90E board (see Fuji Service Manual FCR 5000MA
plus for location) with a nip per.
• The rest of the image reader can be handled as nor mal electronic waste.
IP and cassette 3
The IP and cassette do not contain any harmful material.
