Basic Controls (see Figure 2)
A. Quadrant: This indicates which angle range quadrant
the blade is in.

Finder.
C. Hold Button: Freeze the digital display.
D. Zero/ABS Button: Toggles the digital display
between the "ABS" (absolute) mode and the incremental mode.
Press and hold the Zero/ABS button for more than
five seconds to set a new zero point, making the
current blade location absolute zero.
Operation
Being able to zero the display is useful when setting up
machinery because you can use any angle as a starting
point to indicate how much you have moved a component
during adjustments without adding or subtracting angles
from each other.
For example, if you need to drill holes at a 15° angle: 1)
Set the blade to 90° and place it on the drill press table,
2) press the Zero/ABS button to zero the display, 3) rotate
the blade until the digital display reads 15°, then 4) rotate
the table until the drill press spindle is parallel with the
finder blade.

NOTICE
To ensure accurate results, calibrate
the digital angle finder as instructed
on the next page before putting it into
regular operation.

Calibration
0˚~225˚
-45˚~180˚
-225˚~0˚
-180˚~45˚
The digital angle finder is easily calibrated by setting it
on a known flat surface with the blade positioned parallel to the beam. Use the Zero/ABS button to toggle the
display to the ABS mode, then press and hold this button
for more than 5 seconds. After performing this task, the
display will show numbers getting larger when the blade
is rotated clockwise.
Orientation
When the blade is rotated counterclockwise past zero, the
orientation of the numbers will be upside down when the
display is in the ABS mode. Switching to the incremental
mode causes the display to read right side up regardless
of the direction the blade is rotated.
Angle Range Selection
The digital angle finder can be set to 4 different ranges of
angles (see Figure 3). The label on the blade assumes the
finder is correctly calibrated as described above.
D4099 Digital Angle Finder Instructions
Refer to the table below for the blade range of motion
when the lock knob is secured in one of the four positions
illustrated on the label or in Figure 3.
Range From To
0 °~2 2 5° 0° Parallel to Beam Clockwise 225°
- 4 5°~ 18 0 ° Counterclockwise 45° Clockwise 180°
-1 8 0 °~4 5° Counterclockwise
Clockwise 45°

-225°~0° Counterclockwise
Clockwise to 0°

Note: Rotate the blade to one extreme or the other
before removing the lock knob.
Battery Change
Battery Type Required ................................. CR2032
To change the battery, rotate the round cover on the back
of the angle finder counterclockwise. Pry the battery out
and replace, as shown in Figure 4.
Figure 3. Each small circle on the
quadrant label represents a location the
lock knob can be installed.
Note: Removing the battery resets the calibration of the
display. After replacing the battery, re-calibrate the angle
finder to ensure accurate results.
