tops facing upward and let them heat for a minute until they become malleable.
Note:
● When placing the inner soles in the oven, do not let them touch against the interior walls of the oven as they are extremely hot and may damage the material.
● Select from the included arch pads the pads with the height suitable for the shoes which will actually be used.
● After inserting the selected arch pads into the inner soles, place them in the oven.

the customer put the shoes on with all straps and buckles tightened to their normal riding position.
With the straps tightened, ask the customer to stand still for
4.
approximately 5 minutes with his/her full weight applied to both inner soles for their imprints. At this time, apply the weight on the front of the shoes.

Heat Molding for shoes and inner soles
Preparation for heat molding
To be prepared by consumer:
Shimano heat molding shoes (including the inner soles).
Cycling socks that will cover up to their ankles.
WARNING

To be prepared by the operator:
Have the following materials ready
protective gloves,
1 pressure bag,
Check that the bag have no damage such as holes before use.
2 sealing strap,
1 pair of correct size protective toe caps
(these are needed to prevent the toes area of the shoes from collapsing under pressure).
● Pre-heat the oven for approximately 10 minutes. The temperature inside the oven will reach around 100°C (210°F).
WARNING
The operator must wear protective gloves when heat molding procedure is being carried out to avoid possible burns.
Heat molding procedure
Note:
● Both sides of the shoes should be heat molded at the same time.
● Remove cleats from the shoes if attached.
Remove any product tags and paper materials. With the
1.
inner sole put in the shoe, unbuckle the shoe and loosen the strap as shown in the illustration. At this time, attach the protective toe cap.
Inner sole
Put an inner sole and shoe side by side in a heated oven. At
2.
this time, direct the toe of the shoe toward yourself.
After one minute, take out the shoe and the inner sole from
3.
the oven, put the inner sole into the shoe, and heat them again in the oven for two minutes.
Note:
When placing the shoe inside the oven, do not let it touch against the interior walls of the oven as they are extremely hot and may damage the shoe material.
While heating the shoe, roll down the customer’s sock as shown in the illustration.
After heating, take the shoe out from the oven.
4.
Note:
Do not place the shoes or any object on top of the oven during the heat molding procedure.
Right foot
Request the customer to place their feet into the shoes with
5.
the heels pressed against the back of the shoes and then tighten the buckles and straps to the normal tightening position.
With the protective toe cap attached on the toe of the shoe,
6.
place the customer’s foot into the pressure bag. At this time, position the foot to the back of the pressure bag so that the vacuum hose attachment point is positioned at the heel.
Left foot
Pressure bag
Fold the bag so that it is wrapped around the foot, wrap the
7.
sealing strap around twice above the ankle, and tighten it.
Sealing strap
Have the customer stand up and apply the weight on the
8.
front of the shoes (around the thenar) equally on both sides. In that condition, operate the vacuum pump for approximately two minutes to vacuum mold the shoe. To avoid the reduction of the shoe temperature, perform steps 4 to 8 within three minutes.
When finished, remove the vacuum hose, pressure bag and
9.
the protective toe cap from the customer’s foot. However, because the shoe is still warm and may change its shape, ask the customer to keep still for another 5 minutes, until the shoe is cooled down. Remove the shoe when it no longer feels warm.
This completes the heat molding of the shoe.
Note:
● After the heat molding is finished, do not leave the shoes in places with temperatures of 50°C (120°F) or higher. High temperature may cause the shoes to warp.
● Heat molding of the shoes can be done up to 3 times within the warranty period. After three times the heat molding can still be repeated, however the molding might slowly become less effective.
● Parts are not guaranteed against natural wear or deterioration resulting from normal use.
● Shoes that are heat molded (partly or completely) with other accessories and/or in a way that is in conflict with the applicable Service Instructions are excluded from warranty.
