Shear Tech LE-5900 Linear Endorser Operating Manual.

INTRODUCTION

The LE-5900 is a keyboard programmable tabletop inkjet Linear Endorser with an integrated auto-feeder. It offers high print quality and fast printing speed. Besides the main endorsing mode, the LE-5900 has two other useful modes (Counting and Splitting). An integrated system clock allows inserting of current date and time into the custom endorsing line. Five font types are available and can be selected anywhere within the line. Up to five variables can be placed into the endorsing line and configured as Date/Time, Prompt or Counter.

SETTING UP THE LE-5900

Carefully remove all items from the box.

In addition to this User‟s Manual, you will find the following items in the box:

LE-5900 unit

· Stacker

·

AC Power Cord

· One Knurl Head Screw

Ink Cartridge (needs to be installed)

Install the Ink Cartridge (see “Inkjet Cartridge Replacement” drawing).

Place the stacker on the left side of the machine and secure it with the knurl head screw.

Plug the power cord into the AC power receptacle on the back of the endorser unit. Insert the other end of the power cord into a wall outlet.

Turn the power switch “ON” on the back of the printer unit.

HARDWARE FEATURES

Inkjet Printer

The LE-5900 utilizes inkjet printing technology to print information on a document.

Document Handling

All documents enter the endorser through the integrated auto-feeder. If a document jam occurs, process is aborted and the operator is notified.

Keyboard

Keyboard is divided into two groups of keys Alpha/Numeric and Functional.

Display

Descriptive messages on the display indicate processing conditions and provide error notification. All data entries are displayed. This allows the operator to verify and correct an entry before pressing functional key.

Real Time Clock

The system incorporates a power independent real time clock, which provides current Date and Time on the Display or Inkjet Printer.

MENU NAVIGATION SYSTEM

The menu-driven software of the LE-5900 allows the user to navigate through the entire application by selecting menu options without memorizing them. Once a menu is displayed, use [] and [] keys to scroll menu options. When desired option is displayed, press the [ENTER] key to accept an option or the [CLEAR] key to quit the menu.

The top-level menu is the Mode Menu.

Main (Mode) Menu

The Mode Menu can be activated by pressing the [MODE] key anytime where the software allows mode switching.

Starts Endorsing Mode.

Starts Counting Mode.

Starts Splitting Mode.

Displays the Clock.

Starts Formatting Mode.

Starts System Setup.

Select Mode:

SYSTEM SETUP

System Setup Menu

The System Setup Menu allows us to make changes in the system configuration.

 

 

 

 

 

Reset To Default – resets system configuration

Each Endorsing Format Line has its own Speed and Margin properties that will be used by the software unless the Default option is selected.

Clock Setup – allows changing Date/Time.
