APPLICATIONINFORMATION
(refer to theblock diagram)
TV Signal Identification Circuit
The circuitrecognizesonly TVsignalsbychecking logically during one line the coincidence between the horizontalflybackpulse andthe pulse detected by a sync. separator.
The signalidentification is carried out by charging the capacitorconnectedto pin 5 ; when thecapacitorvoltage overcomesa fixed threshold voltage, a Schmitttrigger switches andenablesthe AFC control. If a TV signal is recognized, the capacitor is slightlycharged every line and its voltage reaches thethresholdafter a numberoflinewhichis defined by the value of the capacitoritself. The sensitivity of the identification circuit, hence the number of lines requiredto charge the capacitor, can be adjustedby meansoftheresistorconnectedbetween pin 11 and ground.
When the identification has been made, a signal (level L) is availableat pin 10.
ThresholdCircuit
The circuit detects3 rangesof AFC voltageand in combinationwith theTV signal identificationcircuit drivesthe electronicswitches.
With a correct TV signal, the output levels correspondingto the3 ranges are :

TheTDA4433has twoseparateoutputswhichcan have only two states, high (H) or low (L). The outputs at pin 2 and at pin 6 remain at a low level withno videosignal inputor with avideo signalnot identifiedas a trueTV signal. Both pin 2 andpin 6 are open collector outputs and must be pulled-up to the positivesupplyvoltage by externalresistors.
Voltage Regulator
Thecircuit can deliver 1 mAand it can be used as D/Aconverterreference to supply fine tuning voltage.
