HOW TO CHARGE AND START THE WATCH

When you start the watch or when the energy in the rec hargeable batter y is

reduced to an extremely low level, charge it suf ﬁcientl y by exp osing the wa tch to light .

Instant-start function:

When the watch is exposed to sunlight or strong ar tiﬁcial light (of mor e than

1,000 lux ), it will s tar t operating immediately wi th the second hand mov ing at 2-second in tervals.

* When the watch has stopped operating, the second

hand will start moving at 2-second intervals.

2 Keep the watch exp osed to the light until the

seco nd hand moves at 1- sec ond intervals.

3 W h e n th e wa tc h is c ha r g e d af te r i t ha s

compl etel y stop pe d, set the da te and time before wearing the watch.

NOTES:

1 If your watch has a second hand, when the instant-start function is activated after

the watch is exposed to light, the second hand starts moving at 2-second intervals immediately, but the energy stored in the rechargeable battery is not sufﬁcient. If the watch is turned away from the lig ht, it may stop operating.

2 It is not necessary to charge the watch fully. It is important, however, to charge

the watch sufﬁciently, especially in case of initial charge.

Caution for charging

When exposing the watch to sunlight to charge it, d o not leave it on the

dashb oard of a c ar, etc. for a long time, as the watch temperature becomes extr emely high.

exceed 50 °C. (For C al. V110, V145, V181 and V18 2)

NOTES:

1 Do not set the date between 9:00 p.m. a nd 1:00 a.m. Otherwise, it may not

change prop erly.

* If it is necessary to set the date during that time period, ﬁrst change the time

to any time outside it, set the date and then reset the correct time.

2 When setting the hour hand, check that AM / PM is correctly set.

* The watch is so designed that the date changes once in 24 hours. Turn the

hands past the 12 o’clock marker to determine whether the watch is set for the A.M. o r P.M. period. If the date changes, the time is set for the A.M. period. If the date does not c hange, the time is set for the P.M. period.

3 When setting the minute hand, ﬁrst advance it 4 to 5 minutes ahead of the desired

time and then turn it back to the exact minute.

4 It is necessary to adjust the date at the end of February and 30- day months.

TIME/CALENDAR SETTING

1. Pull out the crown to the ﬁrst click.

2. Turn the c rown to set the d esir ed time .

v TO PREVENT THE ENERGY DEPLETION

If your wa tch has a seco nd hand, when the en ergy stored in the recharge able

battery is redu ced to an ex tremely low level, the se cond hand s tar ts mov ing at 2-seco nd intervals instead of the normal 1-second inter vals . (Some c alibr es have no s uch function. ) Th e watch remains accur ate even while the s econd hand is moving at 2-second intervals.

● In that cas e, re charge the watch as soon as possible by exposing it to light.

Otherwise, th e watch may stop opera ting in abou t 3 day s. ( For r echarging the watch, see “HOW TO CHA RGE AND S TART THE WATCH”)

When wear ing the watch , ma ke sure that the wa tc h is not cover ed by

clothing.

•

When the watch is no t in use, leave it in a bright place as long as possible.

NOTE ON POWER SUPPLY

The batt er y us ed in t his watch is a re cha rge able ba tter y, which is dif fe ren t

from ordinary silve r oxide batteries . Unlike other disposable ba tte ries such as dry-cell bat teri es or button cells, this rec hargeable battery can be used over and over again by repeating the cycle s of dis charging and r echarging.

gradu al ly deterior ate for va ri ou s reasons such as lo ng -ter m use or us ag e con di tions. Worn or co nt ami na ted me ch anical part s or de gr aded oils may also shor ten recharging cycles. If the efﬁc ien cy of the recharge able batte ry decr ease s, it is n ecessar y to have the watch repaired.

Do no t remove the recha rgeab le batt er y yo ursel f. Repla cemen t of the

recharg eable ba ttery requir es profes sion al knowledge and skill. Please ask a watch retailer for replacement o f the re chargeable bat tery.

Insta llation of an ordinar y silver oxide bat ter y can generate heat that can

cause burs ting and ignition.

CAUTION

To unscrew the crown:

Turn the crow n counterclock wise. (Then, pull it out for time /c alendar setting)

To screw in the crown:

With the crow n at the normal position, turn it clockwise while pre ssin g it.
