Extra Heavy Duty Mortise Locks

The Schlage L-Series mortise lock line is a heavy duty commercial mortise lock
containing a wide array of knob and lever designs. It is available in a variety
of keyed and non-keyed functions, and in most popular decorative finishes.
It is U.L. Listed and can be specified for applications in offices, schools, hospitals,
hotels, and commercial buildings, as well as residences. The L-Series lock meets
or exceeds the ANSI A156.13 specification, making it the best choice for any
building where security, safety, and design compatibility are the prime consider ations.

The L-Series lock uses one common mortise lock case for all trim. This allows
excellent design flexibility in trim combinations such as knob by lever, lever by
knob, as well as knob by knob or lever by lever. The outstanding feature of

its quickly-reversible handing, allowing orders to be filled quickly at the
distributor level from stock on hand. Our L9000-Series mortise lock can
be easily handed on-site without disassembling the lock case.

Specifications

Applications: For commercial and institutional buildings where
the finest in mortise locks are required.

Certifications: L9000: ANSI A156.13 Series 1000,
Grade 1 Operational and Security, UL Listed for 3-hour
fire door (except L9076 and L9077). With interchangeable core
cylinders: Grade 2 Security. L400: ANSI A156.5 Grade 1
UL Listed auxiliary lock for 3-hour fire door.

With Concealed Cylinder: A156.13 Grade 1 Operational and
Security. ANSI/ASTM F476-76 Grade 40, UL Listed.

Exposed Trim:
Knobs: #41 and #42 heavy duty wrought brass, bronze or stainless

steel knobs match in appearance and are equal to D-Series knobs.
Levers: Levers are available in forged brass or bronze and cast
stainless steel. Designs available to match D-Series levers.

93 Lever Design: Extruded brass, bronze or stainless steel.
Mediterranean Designs: Forged brass lever and rose designs.
Escutcheons: L escutcheons are cold forged brass or bronze and

stainless steel. N escutcheons are heavy wrought reinforced brass,
bronze and stainless steel. L = 8 x 1³⁄₄ x ⁷⁄₁₆ (203mm x 44mm
x 11mm). N = 8 x 2 ⁹⁄₁₆ x ⁷⁄₁₆ (203mm x 65mm x 11mm).
Roses: A = 2¹⁄₈ (54mm) diameter wrought brass, bronze or

stainless steel.

B = 2⁹⁄₁₆ (65mm) diameter wrought brass, bronze or

stainless steel.

Trim Combinations: Available with knob both sides, lever both
sides, or knob x lever with rose or escutcheon both sides.

Keying: 6-pin cylinder with two nickel silver Everest
patented keys standard. Keying options available from factory
are master keying, construction keying, interchangeable core,
SFIC and Primus® high security cylinders.

Door Range: 1³⁄₄ (44mm) Standard. 1³⁄ (35mm) to 2¹⁄
(64mm) Regular parts assembled to order. Over 2¹⁄ (64mm)
door ranges vary by function. N escutcheon available for 1³⁄₄
(44mm) doors standard. 2 (51mm) to 2³⁄ (60mm) Regular
parts assembled to order. Specify door thickness if other than
1³⁄₄.

Performance Features

Exceeds ANSI A156.13 Grade 1 lever torque requirements.
Exceeds 800,000 cycle ANSI Grade 1 requirements.
Grade 1 security with concealed mortise cylinder.
Grade 2 security with full face mortise cylinder.
U.L. Listed for all functions except L9076 and L9077 for 3-hour doors, single fire-rated doors

not exceeding four feet in width and ten feet in height.
Universal lock chassis, one lock case for knobs or levers.
Replaceable breakaway spindle is designed to resist excessive force from vandalism,

preventing damage to lever trim and internal lock case components.
Solid stainless steel 1¹⁄₂ (38mm) deadbolt, 1 (25mm) projected.
Heavy duty ³⁄₄ (19mm) latchbolt with anti-friction tongue standard.

Hand is quickly reversible without opening lock case.

This product offering combines the beauty of Schlage’s
Mediterranean levers with all the features and benefits of
our L-Series heavy duty commercial mortise lock.
Two designs, Asti and Merano, are offered in two finishes.
The L escutcheon is also available in addition to the special
roses shown below.

All exposed trim is forged of solid brass and available in our
bright brass finish or our high quality bright chrome finish.
We offer you the added benefit of our extended warranty of
10 years for commercial applications and a lifetime warranty
for Residential applications.
