Introduction
The KC9000 Latch Guard, when installed in addition to the KC9000 Narrow Stile Trim, adds an added level of security to outswinging doors. The KC9000 Latch Guard covers the opening at the critical area between door and frame. Silver coated for environmental protection.
Tools and Materials Needed Not Included in Box:
.Flat head screwdriver w/straight,
2. 1/16” Allen wrench
3. Pencil
4. Center punch
5. Hammer
6. Power drill
7. 1/8” drill bit
8. 7/16” drill bit
9. 11/32” drill bit
10. Drill and Tap for 10-32 threads
11. Socket wrench set

1) Prepare Door:
New Construction-Start Here
Remove all existing trim from outside of door.
Remove backing from sticky template provided.
Refer to Figure 1. Apply sticky template to area on stile where
trim
was removed.
Center 1-1/4” circle on template with existing cylinder hole (a).
Use vertical lines on template to insure that template is applied
square to stile.
NOTE: The lines on the edges of template are for vertical guidance only. Do not line them up with edges of door stile. Template can be lifted and repositioned as often as required to get the position correct.
Centerpunch the three small holes on template marked, TAP 10-
32 (b).
Remove the sticky template.
Drill and tap (10-32) the three holes (b).

Retrofit Installation - Start Here
Refer to Figure 2. Place Latch Guard on door stile and align
with the 3 tapped holes (a).
Refer to Figures 3 and 4. Outline the two, 3/8” square holes at
the top and bottom of the Latch Guard.
